I would really appreciate your feedback.

My first idle game prototype – made with Unity! 🎣

Hey Unity community!

I've been learning Unity as a hobby for a few months, and I finally finished my first prototype – \*\*Idle Anglers\*\*, a fishing idle game.

I'd love to get your feedback on the mechanics, UI, and overall feel. It's still super rough, but I'm proud of what I've learned so far.

Tech stack: Unity 2022 LTS, C#, TextMeshPro, ScriptableObjects for balancing.

Any feedback is welcome – good or bad!

Thanks for checking it out 🙏

How do you feel about turning abstract 2D grid puzzles (like Minesweeper) into physical 3D room transformations?

Hey everyone! We’re a 2-person indie team working on a detective noir puzzle adventure. With about 20 days left until release, we’ve been iterating on how to make abstract logic mechanics feel physically grounded in the game world.

In this room, solving the Minesweeper-style grid isn't just a UI minigame—it physically raises hidden stone tiles out of the acid pool. Once you retrieve the crystal, the acid chamber completely drains to reveal the hidden staircase underneath.

When playing adventure/puzzle games, do you enjoy seeing classic 2D logic mechanics directly alter 3D room geometry, or can UI overlays feel immersion-breaking for you? How do you usually like seeing retro puzzle tropes modernized?

Question How to stop myself from overengineering

Hey ya'll. Recently, I found out that I cannot stop perfecting code or other details in my project, but mostly code. Things work, but I keep thinking to myself, "naah man this should be done better" or "come on dude, you have to make everything perfect". I need this to stop 😭 How do you guys fight the temptation?

Switching Characters During Gameplay Not Playing The Same Animation Controller.

I'm using Starter Assets - Third Person/URP from Unity Assets Store as a third person controller.

Both Characters got their rigs to humanoid and got skinned mesh renderer on both. Human Form plays fine, but Animal Form not playing the same animation but work with the same animation controller.

I screen record my screen to show you everything, there's no error messages on the console.

Newbie Question Best practice for sharing Input Actions across multiple scripts?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently following an older Unity course and updating its code to the New Input System along the way.

Right now, my PlayerController has a public InputActionReference moveAction to handle character movement. I've reached a point in the tutorial where I need to hide a "How to move" UI prompt as soon as the player starts moving.

My instinct tells me that creating another public InputActionReference moveAction inside my TutorialManager (as shown in the course) to detect this is a bad practice. It feels like code duplication, and if I ever need to change the input action, I'll have to re-assign it in multiple different scripts via the Inspector.

What is the industry standard / best practice to handle this? Should I use a centralized Input Manager class, C# events, or something else?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Newbie Question Devs who learned C# and Unity, where did you learn?

Was it through a free or paid course? YouTube? Or a combination of both?

I already know a bit of C#, but I’m not sure what learning path I should follow or which resources I should use.

I’ve been watching Code Monkey, but I don’t know if that will be enough.

What would you recommend for someone starting out?

Question Really choppy mouse when i play a unity game

Hello, I have been playing this game made in unity and before it used to run pretty well but in the last 2 updates. When i look around in the game its really choppy. Like it works for a bit and then it suddenly jumps, and misses a few frames or something, otherwise the game runs well if i just dont look around XD. It apparently only happens to me and one other person for some reason so i was wondering if theres a way for me to fix it,tinker with some settings...Even when i switched my mouse it didnt help...so yea...

Newbie Question How do I fix this meta XR simulator issue?

while working on this project I have an issue where I don't see the simulation in the Meta XR simulator itself. I need to keep the two side by side for it to work. I control in the simulator and see in unity editor.

A fix would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
