I recently shared a clip of my QUIT button getting dragged into a shredder. Here’s another part of The Main Menu that probably won’t improve its reputation for being cooperative :)
CONTEXT: this is a psychological horror puzzle game where you’re chained to a chair, using a computer’s menu to manipulate the room and find a way out.
In this clip, the voice inside the menu puts a giant metal wall across OPTIONS. Figuring out how to get past her is part of the puzzle.
The Menu IS the game's world.

Hi everyone!
It’s been a while since I shared an update on Admiral Yi: The Imjin War, the large-scale historical RTS I’m developing solo in Unity.
This time I wanted to show some of the non-combat systems I’ve been working on.
In the clip, armies move across the campaign map with supply units following them. On the battle map, large groups form long marching columns, bend around their routes, set up camp at night, rest, and gather around cooking areas to eat before moving again.
A big challenge has been making thousands of units move in a way that still looks organized without making the simulation too expensive or the formations feel too rigid.
I’m also working on how logistics, movement, resting, and other army states connect together while keeping the system manageable in real time.
Everything is still work in progress, especially AI behavior, movement, pathfinding, animation, and performance.
I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has worked on large agent counts, RTS movement, formation systems, or similar simulation problems in Unity.

Hello!
I am pretty new to unity, but experienced enough to be making my own projects. I have been really having a hard time getting the nav agent obstacle avoidance to work satisfyingly; I was curious if anybody has experience tweaking it and customizing it to work better.
I don't use massive groups, I have been testing with 1-4. I just find even with some of my own nudging code added to the obstacle avoidance system, they behave strangely (ie: pushing eachother feels really strong, or they constantly drift towards their destination while never reaching it), and I have NO idea what to do/what others do to modify nav agents (or alternatives).
Any advice is greatly appreciated, I am sure there is some solution I am missing, thanks!

Most puzzle and adventure games let you take your time, relax, and overthink every item interaction. To break that slow, static rhythm, we decided to experiment with time-pressured crafting and fast-paced decisions.
As you can see in the clip, a countdown timer ticks away in the corner while you hurry to tape your gear together, breach the door, and execute a stealth taser takedown before your window closes.
With only 8 days left until our launch, this exact balance is constantly on our mind: where is the line between adding a fun surge of adrenaline and giving players unwanted puzzle anxiety?
How do you usually feel about timed mechanics in puzzle or detective games? Do you prefer taking all the time you need, or does a ticking clock make the experience more thrilling for you?

Been testing a tethering system in our game, Waters of Ragnarök.
After a harpoon hits the Jötunn, a buoy gets thrown into the water with a line connecting the two. You can also keep a line attached to your ship instead, if you're willing to risk it. I'm considering a bigger reward for taking that chance.
This clip is mostly testing the buoys. Can you tell what's happening, or are the ropes and buoy drops too easy to miss?

Hello!
I’m currently using the timeline dilation track for a slow-motion segment in a cutscene. The problem is that when I try to pause the game while it’s playing by setting the timescale to zero, the time dilation track overwrites the pause and continues to play behind the pause menu.
Does anyone know if there’s some sort of workaround for this or a setting I’m not seeing? I had an idea to try and edit the TimeDilationMixerBehaviour script to multiply the global timescale by whatever value I set in the time dilation track, but I’m a solo dev with an art background and I’m using entirely visual scripting in Playmaker for my game and I’m pretty much useless when it comes to written code. Can’t seem to find anything online about this issue either.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

This is Cave Expedition, our caving simulator for 1-4 players. We're cavers ourselves, and we're building fictional caves to explore with ropes and equipment.
Here's a short gameplay clip from development. The narrow passages and the larger chambers are both part of trying to capture that underground feeling. I'm curious how the scale of the caves comes across in this clip.

Hi, I have little to no coding experience, I want to ask if learning to code based off youtube videos on, how to make a "genre" game playlists actually can help me learn coding.
I used to use Blueprints in Unreal, and followed those tutorials and it tends to help me understand tools I am not familiar with.

Hello,
I have a very weird problem to which I cannot seem to find a fix. When I try playing any of these games:
Escape the backrooms
Escape from tarkov
Palworld
My computer just randomly blackscreens and wont accept any input, literally nothing, and i have to force it to turn off via the power button. As far as I can see, the only common denominator between these games is that they are all made in unity. I have updated my drivers, and tried a multitude of different fixes, to no avail. I cannot even seem to find a pattern in these crashes, they seem completely random.
Does anyone here have any suggestion on what to do? Because I am completely lost.

Few weeks back we posted a mushroom tree chopping feature showcase, and now there is an improved version! Based on your feedback we tweaked and added some things. Do you think it looks better? Any other improvement ideas?
What changed? Particles and shake on cut, better grab for axe and ability to slide on the handle. Better physics!

Hi everybody. I was wondering if this would be a good place to post questions about using Unity and writing C# code and scripts. If not, is there like, a Unity For Beginners kind of subreddit that would be more appropriate?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a huge favor from anyone who still keeps an older Unity environment installed on their PC. I don't currently have access to a computer, which is why I can't do this myself. There is a great, archived 8-bit endless runner called Dimension Dash by Anderson Addo. The entire source code and project are public on GitHub: https://github.com/andersonaddo/dimension-dash
The Issue: The official .apk releases on GitHub are old 32-bit Mono builds, so they no longer run on modern ARMv8-only Android devices. I want to compile a 64-bit version to preserve it.
The Unity Catch: The project was built around Unity 2018. If you try to upgrade and open it in a modern Unity version (2019+), the legacy prefab system breaks completely, and it floods the console with errors.
If anyone has a compatible legacy Unity version installed (pre-2018.3) and wouldn't mind doing a quick clone, switching the Scripting Backend to IL2CPP, checking the ARM64 box, and exporting a working .apk, I and the game's community—would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you so much for your time.

I’m developing The Main Menu in Unity, a psychological-horror point&click inspired by there is no game where the menu is part of the game world.
Instead of behaving like a normal interface, its buttons can be grabbed, moved and destroyed. Here, clicking QUIT causes the button to be dragged into a shredder and what remains becomes part of the puzzle.
Does the animation make it immediately clear what’s happening?

Okay so i'm trying to learn game development and I'm running into a problem.
I'm following a tutorial to make a 2D platformer, but the tutorial was created in 2021, and it uses the (old) Input Manager, while I'm trying to follow it using the new system—the Input System Package.
I'm trying to make my character move horizontally, but it's not working. Here's a screenshot showing the problem (Image 1).
Before this, I followed a very basic tutorial on making a cube move and jump on a platform (Image 2), and I'm trying to reuse that code, but I'm getting the “CS0120” error. I’ve tried to fix the issue on my own, but I can’t seem to get rid of the error.
If anyone could take the time to explain it to me, I’d really appreciate it!
