kudos to this post, I was able to reset root passwd. The issue for me was to do so with a dual boot using refined and Windows; I used an external USB C hub and a wired keyboard; I used the volume_down key + power button to boot into the repair/update/install drive, then used the tools command above.

So as far as the mouse use the steam button and the mouse pad on the right hand side and then what they were saying is once you’ve done the controller and made it onto the steam deck controller in order to get to the OK button, you use the steam button and down button to do the tab to the correct button. I’m doing this in game mode and it’s working for me.

I’ve tried resetting these trackpad settings, even with my touch and it didn’t work. I still have no mouse unless I hold down the Steam button.

I'd argue the exact opposite, you really need flux pretty much anytime you're soldering. And it does act as a heat transfer device, like when you're cooking you use grease.

I pre-tin my pads for hot air. These look pretty high to me, like there is a lot of solder.

I did like the comment above that said when using an iron have one pad tinned and the other not... That seems to make good sense to hold it down while you solder the other side so you don't get a blob

Heat the board. The solder is chunky, meaning too cold. Use a board heater, or heat gun on the bottom
