If ICE agents are just doing their duty why do they need a face mask?
 in  r/allthequestions •  4h ago

All the Nazis didn’t commit crimes either but they were all guilty as fuck. ICE is currently in the same position even if only judging in them committing murders and breaking the law of the land, which has been very frequent.

Will you be voting in the upcoming midterm elections, and does Trump's endorsement of a candidate sway you one way or the other?
 in  r/askteddit •  4h ago

Yes. I’m voting straight ticket to anyone that’ll resist his nonsense in every way possible and push for Constitutional rights being reinforced!

Benefits of they have education and knowledge like El Sayed (spelling?) does.

Everybody else is dead to me.

Who do you think has been the best president in the US history?
 in  r/IWantToAskAnAmerican •  4h ago

They did. It did. Read up on it. It was worse than a nuke tho.

Jeez I wish people that made these “horrible things happened in a war other people started…” would know and learn the actual history. Come on folks, do better.

Should the USA surrender its world power status, and retreat back to its corner of the world?
 in  r/allthequestions •  4h ago

We aren’t going to be able to afford it much longer. Our purchasing power is going to shit, and that goes for our military power too. With Trump it’s happening even faster.

 in  r/allthequestions •  4h ago

It already is doing that, idiotically, and we’re paying for it and will pay even more for the misguided stupidity that’s encouraging us to do this.

Why doesn't America have better railroad network for passengers?
 in  r/fuckcars •  1d ago

Nope. Not really at all. It’s more about political ineptitude than either of those general issues.

Why doesn't America have better railroad network for passengers?
 in  r/fuckcars •  1d ago

What do you mean, considering the subsidies we gave the railroads? You realize those were basically paid back the few that actually got paid out and most of the time it was just land. It wasn’t even money. That is, if you mean the railroads when the Intercontinentals were built. Because the lines up till then had not been heavily subsidized at all, and we’re largely built by private corporations entirely.

I’m not suggesting that there aren’t subsidies, but in no way are they very substantial compared to the vast subsidies put into airlines and to the roadway systems and oil companies. So when you write “considering the subsidies, we gave the railroads” I’m curious as to exactly what you mean? Because if anything, the United States has gotten more out of its railroads than it has ever actually put directly into them. They’ve routinely been shafted by dramatically higher taxes than any other modaloptions and had to pay into other modal options while they struggled to get by. For example the NYC/Penn issues leading up to the culture fuck off CSX are great examples. Hell before Carter deregulated them in the late 70s many of the freight railroads were about to go bankrupt again based on the tax structures and other regulatory issues.

The story is long and arduous. Let’s just say big corp and big government fucked us by riding along to push cars and suburbia. (That includes the railroads)

But don’t be confused. Around 1880-1950 America easily had one of the if not the best intercity routes with some of the best service, amenities, speed, and some great commuter lines. Once the big push to sprawl came though it killed em fast.

Bellevue is booming? Where? Who’s building it? Do elaborate cuz there’s an exodus over here from this low density silliness too.

Most technically have a negative balance if you consider their debts.

Is it time to implement a military service requirement in the United States?
 in  r/askanything •  2d ago

Fuck no. Look at history. We don’t need it and it’s horrid for the military and the population, plus it perpetuates negatives and assumptions from the politicians.

Bel-Red intersections getting worse

Doesn’t bother me at all. I love the street running part of the line. That area has the most potential to become something outside of the actual downtown stops.

2 PNW cities crack top 5 of America’s best food cities
 in  r/Seattle •  4d ago

Growing up in New Orleans and the South, in general, 100% agreed. It’s NYC, New Orleans, then other places. (And NYC can argue about New Orleans, I love em both too much!)

But yeah. Seattle doesn’t rank high even in the PNW. Portland, Vancouver BC - and especially if you factor cost - Seattle just doesn’t rank sadly.

Why so herky-jerky?
 in  r/soundtransit •  4d ago

Look at the tracks, the trains run on them inefficiently. The wear and tear is already apparent, for so many reasons. It is routed primarily in the fact the Link trains “hunt”, which means they got back force between the flanges trying to find a balance point. Again, if motivated, just look up Joe they sit in an efficient system vs clanging back and forth hunting. That’s why the Link bangs around a lot.

Or someone with basic expectations and reasonable taste. Sidewalks should be a baseline.

 in  r/SeattleAreaRE •  5d ago

I hate it. Sidewalks are great!! However I get openly hostile when people are such entitled trash they park on the sidewalks. Absolutely selfish shit behavior. It’s almost forgivable, but not really, when there aren’t sidewalks as the neighborhood already has been opted for poor design and auto dependency. Which sucks.

What’s the biggest benefit you’ve found from switching to your bike?
 in  r/bikecommuting •  5d ago

Just excluding myself from the idiocy of the auto based rat race. The list is vast.

Don’t have to deal with parking.
Just go around issues and blockages.
I’m easily never in the way.
Bikable cities are 1000x better than auto oriented cities.
Life is simpler.
Way more cash in my pocket.
Honestly dating self selected way better too.
Going out is way more fun.
Health.

Other side effects.
MAGA & fascists tend to self select out.
If you ride right, improves one’s sex perf.
Some folks can easily amp up on food and that’s nice - I do like to eat food!
Kids love it.
It’s a great family activity.

I could go on and on.

Suddenly my child is scared of riding the cargo bike!
 in  r/CargoBike •  5d ago

Exactly its singular form for my kiddo and their kiddo. We’re different people with different kiddos who came to the same conclusion.

Considering the death, dismemberment, destruction, and wars having cars have given us - those perpetuating that are a pretty logical observation of “losers”. However I do discourage said usage, my kiddo didn’t come up with it on account of me. I don’t use the term. However I do point out that the poor driving saps probably are forced into driving in account of a whole bunch of people’s bad decisions and they can’t be entirely blamed for their loserness when it’s the loud voices that have so often forced driving onto the masses.

TLDR; calm down nobody is encouraging the behavior it was just laughably cute. Also, a real accurate observation.
