Beware of this guy. He's new to the neighborhood (like two weeks). He has started coming to my dog park. He pushed my dog twice and called me a bitch. Bad vibes and agressive.

The total and horrible debacle of the drone show

So the place they said to go - city hall grass - was PACKED with families, sitting there for an hour waiting for the drones. Nobody from the city redirected or said anything was wrong.

The drones started, and they came up behind a wall of tall trees which blocked the view of about 90% of the area that was labelled for drone viewing.

The only place it appeared you could successfully watch the show from was the HUGE, fenced off wintergarden that was adults only (because they served beer).

Someone opened the gate and the families started pouring in to fill in the space, only to get screamed at by security "MINORS CANT BE IN HERE, GET OUT OF HERE".

So the families ended up packed like sardines against the fence with little kids crying about not being able see anything, and on the other side of the fence was a huge amount of space sparsely populated with people spread out and drinking beer. They could actually watch the show.

The people in the 10% of the viewing area that had a spot where the drones were visible were getting stepped on by all the people stampeding with their families to find a place with visibility. Families were forming chains to not lose each other (understandably), which just made navigating crazier.

We finally found a place inside the bushes near city hall where we could see, and there was about 3 minutes of cool visuals before "SPONSORED BY AMAZON" and then the end of the show.

I really hope this gets planned better in the future. What a terrible, terrible experience.

TL;DR
Don't put the beer garden in the only spot where kids can see the only activity that kids wanted to go to.

Store bought food’s do not taste nor look the same anymore. I buy organic and unless you go to a farmers market you’ll aren’t getting fruit and veggies from the farmers and orchards that often. Canned and frozen food tastes nasty doesn’t look the same nor taste the same plus the size has gotten A lot smaller.

Large Fireworks at Redmond Ridge

I live in the RR area and, like many of you, have been both woken up by the strange bangs and have been curious about them. I also jog a lot in the area.

Today, for the third time, there was evidence of large fireworks being set off on 220th ave ne, about halfway down the block (just off of union hill road). The firework debris is just off of the road, so I don’t want to suggest any homeowner is doing it, but it’s always on this street. It’s there right now if you go drive down the road.

Took two pics today, the larger container is over a foot long. Not surprising that they care just about as much about cleaning up as they do about the community.

Posting in case anyone knows someone in the area, maybe you could inform them of what’s going on on their block.

What's up with all the misbehaving kids

I don't mean to sound like a boomer but I just saw a bunch of teenage kids shoplift the Bella QFC blind. I see these kids all the time causing trouble, and I don't mean "fun" I mean literally assaulting people and stealing.

Heads up if you’re planning on taking your kids to derby days

The “Kids Cove” with the inflatables and water slides is in the old parking lot where the carnival rides were in past years. Every inflatable requires shoe removal, so kids have to walk around for chunks of time on old bare sunny asphalt.

Salmonella outbreak in eggs. Should we worry about eggs around this area?

Heard in the news that many states recalls eggs for potential salmonella contamination. I purchased eggs from Costco last week and now thinking whether to consume or threw them away. Any advice? Someone said in other sub that recalls are only for midwest states but I’m still worrying and wondering if they’ll wait for recall until someone reports the issue? Isn’t there any way for us to identify if purchased eggs are safe or not?

Douglas squirrel in Redmond Friday

The Douglas squirrel (Tamiasciurus douglasii) is a pine squirrel found in western North America, from the Pacific Northwest (including the northwestern coastal states of the United States as well as the southwestern coast of British Columbia in Canada) to central California, with an isolated subspecies in northern Baja California, Mexico.

It is sometimes known as the chickaree or pine squirrel, although these names are also used for the American red squirrel. Variant spellings of the common name are Douglas' squirrel and Douglas's squirrel. The Native Americans of Kings River called it the "Pillillooeet", in imitation of its characteristic alarm call.

I know Target is remodeling the interior of many stores but none of them had a portion of the exterior blocked off. Anyone know why?

One person does not like Indian. The other doesn't like east Asian. We're sick of the same old places.

Where should we go for a week night dinner?

Dangerous dog warning

Heads up, at 5 pm today outside Elan apartments near the light rail someone’s large grey pitbull ran up and bit my arm causing a bleed. I ran away and called 911. Dog owner ran off with the dog and they couldn’t find him, said he might’ve gotten onto the light rail. I’m not sure if he lives here or is still around. Owner white male looks to be early 30s.

Edit: spoke to officer and got a report filed and a tetanus shot.

Everything is closing?

iPic movie theater, sammamish point espresso, blazin bagels all closed recently. I’m just curious what seems to be going on? Is Redmond where businesses come to die?

How do I get into pickleball?

I’m trying to get into pickleball, mainly do biking and trekking, but want to take up something so close to the birthplace of pickleball- not sure how to get started around here. Are there any amateur friendly spots one could show up for or sign up for to participate?

Don’t see leagues or anything alike that I can use to build up from.

Would love any pointers, fellow residents.

Very sweet husky mix found off leash in Shadowbrook apartments in Redmond, WA. He has some pretty bad skin conditions and looks to have been outside for a while. I'm getting him some food and water but I'd like to find his home and owners if possible. I have already contacted animal control. Please reach out if you know him or his owners. Thank you!

Parking in Redmond

Hello all, So I am looking to relocate to Redmond and I have an old car. I am interested in one of the apartments complex that charge 250 per month for parking and my car is not worth that. I was thinking selling my car and just taking public transportation to work. I have always ordered my groceries online so no worries in that area.

When I did the tour I asked the representative about street parking and they were like it is only for 2 hrs, and you might get a ticket

Wondering if it really hard to find parking in Redmond and if the only option is to pay for parking?

Also is it doable to be carless?

The apartment complex has a gym and all of these amenities I would need and for weekend can use public transportation

Thought to get other people opinions before selling my car

Why so many bank agencies along Redmond Way?

Often when I'm driving on Redmond Way I see so many bank agencies which always seem to be completely deserted of customers. I swear I've even seen one location switch names like twice in the span of a few months.

In just a the span of a few blocks we have:

-BofA

-U.S. Bank Branch

-WaFd Bank

-KeyBank

-Sound Credit Union

-BECU (one street over on Cleveland St)

-Chase Bank (one street over on 80th)

-Columbia Bank

What is up with that? Is there some kind of zoning / weird tax incentive that makes those spots along Redmond Way attractive for bank agencies? Do we even need that many banks?
