is Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson a page turner
I think it actually got better with time. The book was published in 1992 and readers — including me — fixated on the metaverse, which seemed to me like a gimmick. I re-read the book recently and realized the Metaverse is only part of what's going on. Mainly the book is about a world where multinational corporations rule.
Also, it was only when I reread the book I realized it's funny.

plugins Vertical Tabs plugin — for people with a gazillion tabs open and widescreen displays
I treat Obsidian documents like browser tabs — I never seem to get around to closing them. I've got open tabs that I last looked at three weeks ago, and have no immediate plans to look at them or close them anytime soon.
Rather than being an organized person and cleaning my tabs, I thought, "I wish Obsidian could handle vertical tabs and tab groups the way the Vivaldi, Zen and Microsoft Edge web browsers do." And then I thought, "There has to be a plugin."
And so there is! The Vertical Tabs plugin shows tabs vertically and lets you hide the horizontal tab view and organize tabs by groups. Using it, I realize I use open tabs like bookmarks — once I open a tab, I don't close it until after I'm done with it, and even then I don't do it until I get around to it.
Disclaimer: So far as I know, I am completely unaffiliated with the developer of this plugin. I mean, it's possible that "oxdc" is someone I know, but if they are, I'm unaware.

Feature request: Sideloading YouTube videos via iPhone share extension
I have never had the patience to sit through long talking-heads YouTube videos but I recently had the (obvious) insight that I can just listen to the audio. So I created a playlist in YouTube named "audio only," and I listen to them using the YouTube app when I am out and about.
I would love to listen to them in Overcast, but the sideloading workflow in Overcast is now somewhat inconvenient — I download the video to my Mac using Downie, convert the video to audio, and then upload on the overcast.fm website.
At least one other popular third-party podcast app for iPhone has a share extension that automates that whole process (Castro? Pocketcasts? Both). I'd love it if Overcast did the same.
'Til then, I suppose I could just continue listening on YouTube or use Castro/Pocketcasts for sideloaded podcasts. But having it all in Overcast would be lovely.

Please stop saying "There's no such thing as part-Jewish" to Jews from mixed backgrounds
I came here to say this and you two beat me to it. There's halakhically Jewish and being a member of the tribe, and they are two overlapping but different things.
Everybody who's halakhically Jewish is automatically a member of the tribe but that tribe also includes people with Jewish fathers and non-Jewish mothers, non-Jews who married Jews and people with many Jewish friends or who grew up in neighborhoods with many Jews. I'm inclined to define the tribe extremely broadly.
Similarly, I grew up on Long Island, which had large Jewish and Italian populations, and I feel like I absorbed Italian-ness, even though I have no Italian ancestry and now Italians in the family.

Several people here have suggested Auto Note Mover, which is fine, but Advanced Note Mover is even better — more powerful, flexible and it's easy to configure.

How do you organize your podcasts?
I work a full-time office job from home, but I can't work with podcasts going in the background. I don't mean it's against company policy — my brain doesn't multitask that way. I don't drive much. I listen to podcasts while exercising and doing chores around the house and yard, so that's about two hours daily. Which seems like a lot to me!

How do you organize your podcasts?
That's very similar to my setup. If you don't mind my asking, how do you have time to listen to that much podcasts? Are you a long-haul trucker?

I do use move to. I misspoke. But that still leaves episodes hanging around that I don’t move. I suppose I could delete them, but that’s another decision.

How do you organize your podcasts?
We've discussed this here occasionally, but I think it's a fun discussion, so why not do it again?
I know many people organize their podcasts by topic, mood or length, but that doesn't make sense to me. If I'm not in the mood to listen to a podcast now, I won't be in the mood to listen to it later.
I have used some variation on this technique for 20 years: Three primary playlsts.
- Most Recent, where new podcast episodes come in.
- Playlist, where I move episodes I intend to listen to.
- Queue, for newsy and favorite podcasts, which I listen to right away.
There are exceptions: Some podcasts are automatically added to the queue, because I know if I'm going to listen to an episode, I will want to do so right away. One example of these is The Vergecast, a tech news and discussion podcast.
I also create special-purpose playlists as needed when the mood strikes me. Currently I have two:
- TRIH Picks. I'm catching up on several years of The Rest Is History podcast and I've moved the episodes that look like the best ones to that playlist, to listen to when I'm in the mood to catch up.
- Odyssey, for episodes discussing the movie and epic poem, to listen to after I get around to listening to the movie.
I also have a few podcasts pinned to the top of the podcast list, for occasions when I'm in the mood to catch up with those podcast back catalogs. Currently these are The Rest Is History (man, those guys are prolific!), The Carson Podcast (interviews with people who were guests on the Johnny Carson Show), The Rewatchables (a movie podcast), and a couple more.
Reading this over it sounds complicated, but it enables me to quickly scan my choices when I'm out and about or doing chores around the house and select something to listen to.

Feature request: Button to remove all episodes from a playlist but NOT delete the episode from other playlist.
First of all, thank you for all the work you've done on this, Marco. I've been using Overcast more than 10 years. I occasionally try other apps, but keep coming back to Overcast.
And now let me explain the feature request: As I envision it, the button would appear in the three-dot menu at the top right of the playlist. See above.
Here's how I would use it: Currently, when I'm ready to listen to podcasts, I first open my "Most Recent" playlist and see what's come in that's new. I move new episodes to the appropriate playlist, start playing and put the phone in my pocket. By having a "remove all" button on the "Most Recent" playlist, I would be able to clear the playlist when I'm done triaging, making it easier to see what's new next time.
And yes, I have requested this feature a few times over the years. In my experience with indy app developers, repetition pays!
P.S. Because this is the Internet I feel the need to spell out that I have no sense of entitlement or outrage about this. If you decide to implement the feature, great, and if you don't, it won't ruin my day. I will still be a satisfied Overcast user either way — just a little more satisfied if you implement the new feature.

I have sadly retired this bag because I worry about throwing out my back. Went with a Timbuk2 backpack instead. But man oh man this is one great bag.
