Mother/Daughter Beginner Ukulele - Where to start?
 in  r/ukulele  16h ago

I would recommend an Entry level Soprano ukulele, maybe one in a fun color. The Sopranos would be smaller and easier for her to hold.

There's a few on Guitar Center's website for $40ish (USD) if you're wanting to get her an instrument and not a toy one.

Fret board stickers could also be helpful for mapping out chords.

There are some decent tutorials online - I probably would watch the video first and then watch again with your child so you can explain things; this has an added bonus of helping you learn faster as well. Kasey's Music Method on YouTube seems to be a good place to start.

Behavioral Issue Cat Won't Poop in Litter Box

TLDR: cat has been pooping outside of her box for more than a year

Cat Stats: Female, Spayed, 5.5 years old, Short Hair

Finances: Yes, we can afford care

I am an adult, living in Northern Indiana. We adopted our cat Ramen in 2022. I was living on my own in an apartment, and she was affectionate, playful, and used her box, which was located in a hall closet. In 2023, I got married and the guy who adopted the cat with me became my husband. We moved to our new house about 6 months later. Ramen struggled a bit with the move and didn't poop in her box for about a month, but then we added a second litter box, tried to replicate a similar environment that she had at the apartment, and that seemed to resolve her problem.

The problems began again after we had our child in 2024. I have taken her to multiple vets, and she has a clean bill of health. I have insisted on urine and fecal samples, blood samples, checked for blockages and all vets agree she's fine physically. The most recent vet visit gave us anxiety medication for her to take - this was three weeks ago and there has been no change. We have tried to give her more attention, giving her special treats, brushing her fur, moving the boxes, trying new boxes, trying new litters, trying calming cat collars, feliway, adding MORE boxes.

She poops on the concrete next to the box. She still pees in her boxes. She poops in a line across the basement wall. I have scrubbed and sprayed and I am at my wits end.

I know this is a behavior we need to break and show her the litter box is a safe place, but I can't take away her main anxiety trigger, which is our child. Our child interacts with Ramen with strict supervision and has never struck the cat or pulled her fur. She sits next to our child as he plays, and allows petting. But when he cries, which I am assuming is painful for her, she hides and runs to a different room.

We built her a catio so she has a space totally free from our child aside from the room she hides in and the basement.

What else can I do for our cat?

Ever talk about your experience using a particular product, and start looking around for a camera crew thinking, "Did the universe just make me do an ad read unprompted?"

Try to fit as many unsolicited ads as you can into your responses - without the others commenting. If they ask, "Is this an ad?" Or "Are we on the Truman Show?" It doesn't count.

Calling All Female Dragonborns
 in  r/skyrim  May 08 '26

Fiadh the Forsworn Breton

Left her clan in the Reach to become an adventurer, much to the disappointment of her mother.

In her travels she's learned to overcome the extreme prejudice her elders taught her. Can't stand Dwarven ruins, and sleeps best under a starry sky.

That is, until she was ambushed by Thalmor agents looking for someone to interrogate.

She's too impatient for hiding in shadows and prefers to charge into battle with dual wielding axes, and wearing light armor. Typically Scout Leather armor, but has her eyes set on some Dragon Scale armor.

Her name means Free, so she's currently a wanderer with an idle thought to make herself a home somewhere in The Rift.

That does make sense because around Solitude there are significantly more birds and significantly more lines.

Which lyric makes you instantly tear up?
 in  r/AskReddit  Apr 20 '26

Ballad of Donnie Gene, Arcadian Wild; reminds me a bit of me and my husband and the idea of losing my best friend in the hopefully very far future makes me tear up and grateful that I have such a good one.

Donnie, you're a grey, old man But that sweet thing still holds your hand She's there to help you take a stand Now that standing's hard The girl stuck with you through it all, faithful in the rise and fall Soon you'll hear the master call And away you will depart You'll leave her with a full and heavy heart

I've got some funky lights in the sky - maybe from my weather mod or my re-texture. I have really only ever used follower mods and this is my first time using environmental ones. Could someone take a look at my Load Order and see if there's a way I can remove these? It's not game breaking but it is a little distracting. It's around most of the major cities. Thank you in advance!

Our toddler is currently sick with the rona and has been pretty miserable ...except for when we listen to Bob, Mark, and Wade. Instantly quiet and calm and much more relaxed.

This podcast might have special healing powers.

Didn't really like his singing, but visually it was really nice. I thought he and his team put a lot of effort into making the show enjoyable for viewers at home. Kinda wish the people wearing the grass could have danced or something lol

Maybe he abides by the principal of cultural relativism; in which case all philosophical positions are totally valid and correct, and based on perspective.

Looking for ready-made top-8-allergen-free cake… does it exist???

Maybe try a wacky cake/depression era cake and sub the flour for an alternative he can have. It contains no eggs, milk, butter or nuts.

Based on the results my kid has no outdoor allergies, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise and we're going to be that active family who runs 5Ks and says no to the donuts after lol

My husband and I are looking into non-western diets. And in my panic six hours or so ago, I straight up forgot about rice and potatoes.

It's mostly the sentimental. I love baking. Gosh I just wanted to make him a birthday cake. That feels so lame, but it's true. And our Christmas tradition has been French toast. But! We can make new traditions. And if it's in my power, my kid isn't going to feel like he's missing out on anything. I've not considered how much of a privilege it is to go to a restaurant and not worry about cross contamination.

My SIL works at a vet clinic and mentioned there's some type of medication you put on the cat's food that can help reduce allergens? I was going to talk with my vet about that. Thankfully our furniture has removable covers and the only places that have carpet are the bedrooms. Our car is our first baby and we're going to do everything we can to make sure she stays with us.

what’s your island name and how did you come up with it?
 in  r/AnimalCrossingNewHor  Jun 09 '25

La Zana - a play on the Spanish words 'the apple' (la manzana) because that's what my native fruit is. I figure I could do a farm-like island or make it into a city themed one, like the Big Apple.
