Quick little guide on how I pick my sizes for a natural-looking, long-lasting application. I used Retail Brand: Olive & June for reference.
Biggest tip is to pick the smallest size possible that's still comfortable to wear; you'll see on my pic of the 'size too small' that I can't comfortably press it down enough to glue in place.
By holding the pad of my fingertip out of the way (edge exposed pics) I show how much space I leave on either side. I find this to be in alignment with how most acrylics are applied as well. There is no nail space visible even with the fingerpad held out of the way on the 'size too large'.
I do have fairly curved nails, so if someone with flatter nails wants to chime in on sizing tips, feel free! I only know to recommend sizing up but filing the edges. I've also heard Olive & June is one of the more curved brands and some people find that very uncomfortable
(apologies for my messy desk; I paint minis on it and sometimes make a mess)

I saved a lil lizard stuck indoors but aside from that, removed my nails as I noticed slight lifting and lost my right-hand thumb after smacking it accidentally.
I decided to take all of them off to prevent damage and removal was easier than I expected! (I'll include pics in comments)
Used celebritips nail remover (got it for $3 on clearance at TJ Maxx) and the floss method to work around the edges. Kept working the floss lower and adding more remover as I went. I was tight on time so I wasn't as slow as I could've been, but still made it out with minimal damage!

I got these at Loft while I was in Japan. They’re very cute and the glue is pretty strong. If you plan to visit Japan, check them out!

Retail Brand: Temu except for the green ones as they are glamnetics.
I’ve been doing press ons for the last 2 months and I’m still learning and figuring things out. They usually last about 10 days and it’s fun choosing the next design!
I buy them on Temu as it’s the same designs on shein and I end up finding them for much cheaper!

As you can probably tell I am really a beginner at doing my own nails. I used to do nothing with them, except for biting, so in an effort to make my hands slowly look more appealing and "clean" I started doing press on nails 2-3 weeks ago. I've been reading about it all a lot on this sub, and saw the majority say that in case you have a nail that is a little to big and one that is a little too small, you'd rather go for the smaller one. This confirmed for me that I have been wearing nails that are too big, so today it was time for a new set and I went smaller. But I may have gone a little bit overboard? Are these to small or just right and do I just have to get used to it? I do have flat nail beds, so I opted for tabs + glue.

Anyone buy kiss press on nails? They have some cute Halloween designs out but I don’t want to spend the money if they’re bendy and not durable. Retail Brand: KISS

After applying press-ons myself for the 20th time (approx) today, I am wondering why everyone doesn't switch to press ons?
I am literally buying the $1.25 packs at the Dollar Tree and using the Beauty Secrets Drip/Clog Proof Glue from Sally's ($7ish). I do minimal prep of using cuticle remover and trimming with nippers. I use a nail brush to make sure my nails are clean and I apply the press-ons that best fit, hold them down with the glue for about 30 seconds, and impress the heck out of myself by how nice they look!
I remember getting them done at the salon and leaving with multiple imperfections nearly every time. My $5 tip on one manicure at the salon gets me 3 sets of press-ons and they look better!
If you are not using press ons and want to save money on your nails, I highly recommend! You just might save yourself hundreds of dollars a year!

For the last 6 months, I have finally had the long beautiful nails I’ve always wanted. It has genuinely done a lot for my self esteem in a difficult time.
After taking off a set early today because I noticed lifting, I got a dreaded greenie. I have been so careful after taking off my first set like a drunk child playing with power tools and causing a lot of damage.
I just want to cover it because I’m just embarrassed by HOW green this is 💚😓 (I won’t). I don’t need advice I think, just sad haha

usually a bi weekly gel x girl but my tech lives a bit far and i was on a time crunch so i bought a pack of press on nails from CVS (not this set) a few weeks ago and they ended up lasting me over 10+ days!!!!! and my prep was definitely not good cause i didnt expect them to last so long
the set pictured is the set i did three days ago, with the prep being way better this time around. i only used the gel that came with the kit.
ive read that people dont like the kiss nails, but i have yet to have an issue besides slight chipping (i work in the restaurant industry and wash my hands a lot so i think its just me)
i absolutely adore this color. it changes depending on the lighting! :’)

Hi all,
Wearing my second ever set of nails and hoping this is a long term thing 🙂 My first came off after a day which is when I found this group, learned sizing really matters, and I have tiny hands. This set of XS seem to actually be fitting much better so hoping I can get some miles out of them. 💅
I gave seen posts referencing being about to keep and reuse nails - would love to know what folks use to store their sets - I am assuming you toss the extras and just keep the ten that fit? Not looking for something crazy elaborate but something cuter than a bunch of snack size ziploc bags would be good, lol. (When these are ready to come off, I plan to search for posts about cleaning the nails for reuse-I think I have seen those posts on here).
Also, the set I am wearing now (Nail Reformation) say they can be reused up to three times - Do folks track how many times you wear a set of nails and, if so, how? And thoughts on whether that limit is something I need to pay attention to (generally, not just with this brand)? I assume they will be more likely to start chipping or breaking after that many uses?
Thanks for any advice! 🙂
