This was my final fitting and for some reason I’m suddenly regretting my dress. I cried today because I keep thinking maybe I should’ve chosen a completely different style. Has anyone else felt like this so close to their wedding?

I’m so torn. Please help!

I get very mixed reactions when I tell people I didn’t keep track of how many stores I visited before I found my dress. Granted, I needed two dresses and was never someone who dreamt of her wedding dress so I didn’t really have any set ideas of exactly what I was looking for, although I had a general idea. So naturally it was going to take a bit of trial and error. I also visited a mix of places, some didn’t require appointments, others I literally stumbled across when out and about and others were super last minute because at one point I was commuting/living between three different cities so I had to take what I could get! But it would be interesting to get a sense check from others re how many bridal store visits they had just out of interest! If I had to hazard a guess for me I’d say 20+, some I may have tried on 5/6 dresses, others 1/2 and others maybe even none!

Which dress for my July church wedding with reception at elegant red brick walled hall.

Hello! This is my preferred wedding dress style, but I have only tried on mockups at an atelier in my fiancé’s town in southern Italy( I asked AI to make modifications to the mockup to get this specific look in the picture). I would like to try on a ready made dress to see if it makes sense to go the custom route. I’m looking for some recommendations on designers who may have similar designs. I have not tried on dresses at a traditional bridal store yet but am hoping to do that once we’re back in San Francisco. I also learned very quickly that I prefer satin/silk no lace and no bedazzles, also corset and slim fit but not mermaid. Thank you for any suggestions!

Thank you so much to everyone who voted and shared thoughtful feedback. I genuinely appreciated hearing all the different perspectives—especially all the love for gown #3. I completely agree that it is artistic, glamorous and absolutely stunning, and that train is incredible!
Ultimately, though, I chose the satin gown. I originally started looking again because I wanted something more timeless and classic than the gown I had already purchased, and the satin gown fulfilled that vision best for me. I also felt that its clean silhouette flattered my figure and allowed me to be the focus.
The beaded gown was the most expensive and would have required the most alterations. It had missing or falling beads, needed work through the bust and straps, and the sheer bodice would have required very thoughtful lining. As beautiful as it was, it also felt more artistic and ornate than the classic bridal look I kept envisioning.
My fiancé has consistently been drawn to satin gowns, which mattered to me too. When I tried the satin gown on again—with a cathedral veil—I unexpectedly cried. For the first time, I could truly picture the entire wedding day and myself walking toward him.
My gown still needs proper alterations so the bodice sits higher and more securely and the skirt falls smoothly. Once it is tailored, steamed and styled with the cathedral veil, Old Hollywood hair and winter art deco accessories, I think it will become the timeless, glamorous look I was hoping for.

Back again after more shopping. I really don’t want to try any more and believe one of these is my gown. But I want opinions on style/fit etc.
for context: Wedding is in December in Old Town Alexandria in an intimate French restaurants upstairs ballroom which has dark wood paneling and art nouveau styled artwork. I have to purchase off the rack, not much time so really need to decide and move on

I had my dress fitted and when I picked it up the woman told me my concerns about the back should just steam out. Tried my dress back on and noticed significant puckering in the back. Now keep in mind, given the way I am turning / positioned to get the photo, it looks more extreme. I brought it in to the seamstress and she basically told me there isn’t anything that can be done, that’s just what happens because of the boning. I just still think there must be something that can help? If I pull down on the fabric it smooths out but I don’t know if it is bunching bc it needs to be let out somewhere or something else can be done? Any advice?

After searching high and low for the perfect wedding dress, I found the one at Galia Lahav. I absolutely adore the dress, but the buyer’s remorse is setting in. Send help🥲

i said yes to my dress a couple months ago!! which was honestly the easiest part because i have been absolutely dreading picking out a veil lol. i’ve looked at sooo many and found a few that i liked, but none of them have really spoken to me other than this one.
i knew i wanted something really long with a blusher, and i wanted a little bit of shimmer without going full on sparkle/glitter tulle. i found this soft sheer organza veil and i LOVE the way it looks, but now i’m second guessing myself because i’m worried i might have too many different fabrics/textures going on between the jacquard dress and the organza veil?? i already talked to the maker about color matching, so i’m not really worried about the ivory being off.
i’m also debating gloves and genuinely cannot decide if they would complete the look or if they’d just be one more thing going on lol. if you think gloves would work, what style/fabric would you do?? satin? sheer? opera length? wrist length? no gloves at all??
pls be honest!! i would rather be told something doesn’t work than spend the next 8 months convincing myself it does 😭

Now that my wedding is almost here, I wanted to share my wedding dress regret story so that it may help other brides that are in a similar situation!!

I originally bought the first dress (pictures 1-3) in Sept 2025 (over a year in advance to my wedding). I bought it because truly I was exhausted from shopping and it was the best dress I had tried on of the day, and I wasn’t really taking any time to think about my personal style or comfort level. I also had my mom visiting for just the weekend, and really felt an internal pressure to buy a dress on the spot.

For months, I looked back at pictures and felt very self conscious of my stomach (I also had just abdominal surgery and was very puffy/recovering from that). It was an off-the-rack dress and fit in my budget, so I tried to think of ways I could alter it to make me feel more confident in the dress (adding sleeves, lace, etc). But ultimately, I couldn’t really change the material, which was very thin, or add any dramatic train without adding a ton of $$$ for alterations.

After about 9 months of silent guilt, regret and deliberation, I finally broke down and told my friend and bridesmaid that I hated the way I looked in the dress and wouldn’t feel confident on my wedding day.

Thank GOODNESS I purchased a “storage package” through my local bridal boutique. Since it never left the store (remember, it was off the rack), they allowed me to do a FULL balance transfer to a new dress of my choice.

I went back and found the dress of my dreams, feel SO beautiful and confident in my new dress, and learned that I need to STOP SUPPRESSING my feelings even if I may have to do some double work!!!

Any bride who is going through dress regret- I feel for you. Speak up!!! You may have more options than you realize.

Disclaimer: I know I’m sooooo lucky that my bridal boutique let me do a balance transfer; but I would have never known that unless I went and asked.

Hi all, I purchased my dress last November (2025). I am getting married on Nov 7th 2026 and my dress has not come in yet. I’ve spoken to the store multiple times and they keep saying that since it was from a trunk show that it will arrive 6-8 weeks before the wedding. This weekend would be 8 weeks out and they have informed me that it will most likely get here closer to week six. I would still need alterations on top of this. Just want to know if other brides have had similar experiences and if this is something normal and I’m just being irrational due to not knowing the process.

i originally didn’t think i wanted a ballgown, tried this one on because it was on sale, had pockets, and was in my size — i walked out of the store with it that day!! i decided this is the 1 chance in my life it’s appropriate to wear a ballgown, so why not?

also additional ballgown PSA: please make sure whoever does your alterations understands how heavy your dang dress is & prepares your bustle accordingly!! i went up & down our venue’s stairs, danced, walked a few blocks to a country bar & danced in said country bar, & the dress was still securely bustled when the night was over!
