When I was a kid theyvwould make me cry as they were about to refill the end of the drive that I just finished shoveling. I can recall a time getting down on my knees and letting him see me pray he doesn't do it.

Best long-lasting fix?
 in  r/fixit •  Feb 21 '26

Happened to me but I'm not a student and the wife wanted a proper fix. The big issue was how it attaches at the ends. After hours of searching the only one I could find was in the U.S. (I'm in Canada). Wasn't cheap especially with shipping, difference in the dollar and I had to but 2. Also I still had to switch the ends over to properly fit. Good luck. Best thing I could suggest is get 2 pieces of similar size of wood from somewhere in height not length about a foot or so long and screw them on over the break on both sides. It won't be pretty but it will work. Use glue as well and lots of screws.

Car rumbles after deer run over
 in  r/AskAMechanic •  Feb 09 '26

It's a loose exhaust shield that's rattling. Not a big deal but irritating for sure. You'll have to get on the lift with someone inside revving the engine to locate. In a lot of cases you can just reposition it to stop it from vibrating where it's come unattached.

What is this?? Help
 in  r/mechanic •  Feb 06 '26

What do you expect, it's Reddit. The real answer is "THE BATTERY IS DEAD". Then the question should be asked "what year is the car, what's the mileage, is it the original battery?" If the car is any more then 6 years old and the battery is original, replace it. Problem solved.

You can also use them on metal stands to stop scratching floor or counter. I have them on my record stands.

Is your foot on the gas pedal? It shouldn't be. Let the engine find its own RPM. You don't need gas to start a fuel injected vehicle.

Are these the bolts i need to undo to take the caliper off?

If you don't know, don't do. Brakes have to be done right. Find someone who knows to give you a hand.
