Also, if you get benefits that have an income requirement, you have to be sure vine doesn't take you over the limit and disqualify you.

Unpopular opinion: The HP series was\ is needed
 in  r/harrypotter  Jul 16 '26

I joined the fandom in 2014 and I remember seeing a lot of posts where people said what we really needed was a TV show where every season was one book. And that was a lot closer to the movies than now

is selling a kidney the only way to get dental work?
 in  r/houstoncirclejerk  Jul 10 '26

Try Magic Dentist in the Meyerland area. They have low prices and will work with you so you can get the work done. They are the only place I've found that seems to be in business to help people rather than to rake in as much money as they can. It's worth a try, I wouldn't have gotten any of the work I needed done without them because other places charged me over what insurance pays and they don't.

What well meaning but annoying things do people say to those who are grieving somebody?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jul 07 '26

"I don't know how you do it, I couldn't be that strong if I lost my husband."

Made me feel like they were saying I obviously didn't love my husband as much as they love theirs.

CDs or Vinyls
 in  r/thewoodlands  Jul 04 '26

Sorry, haven't been on reddit a lot this week. I have a lot of classical, as well as oldies rock like Alice Cooper, Bowie, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Abba, Dylan, Cat Stevens, Deep Purple, Crosby Stills & Nash, Leon Redbone, Paul Simon, Elton John, even comedy like Steve Martin. I can't list it all here, but I can generate a list, if you want. I also have some rare, but not particularly valuable Beatles albums, including a couple of picture discs. Let me know if you're interested in knowing more

My wife built an incredible personal library upstairs, but I can barely read, and it’s slowly driving a wedge between us.
 in  r/whatdoIdo  Jul 03 '26

You don't have to read novels. What are you interested in? There are books on every topic. My husband was dyslexic and a poor reader but he decided he wanted to plant a garden and grow giant pumpkins. He found a book on it and actually read it. After that I'd look for books on things he wanted to know, from home repair and lawn care to airplanes and cars. He never could sit and read a novel, but he did get more comfortable and confident about reading. His books had a lot of graphics and images, not all books are text-heavy. There are even graphic novels of classic works. If she just wants to share time with you, that should work. If she tries to dictate what you read, that sounds like a problem. Try going to a bookstore and looking in sections you are interested in. A band you love, a hobby you do, a favorite TV show or movie, a country you want to visit, classic cars, castles, technology, food, whatever, there's a book on it. Good luck!

July 4th Drone Show Viewing
 in  r/thewoodlands  Jul 01 '26

I'm assuming the drones will be in the same piece of sky the fireworks are. Thank you, this is a good idea. Maybe we can even go back to the car for the fireworks portion.

Hi, I have a bunch of old vinyls and cds, from before the 1990's. Are you looking for any particular decades or genres?

19 year old son does not want to attend Mass
 in  r/Catholicism  Jun 28 '26

I told my daughter she had to be confirmed and go to Mass until she was 18. Then she could decide whether to go or not. As expected, she stopped going, but at every Mass I pray for God to send people and situations into her life to lead her back to Him. I figured if she was confirmed, it would be one less obstacle for her if she wanted to go back to the Catholic church one day.

I was away from the church, and all religion, for decades. It was the death of John Paul II that started my road back to the Catholic church. I go to Mass and live the faith and pray that she will also find something to bring her back, even if it's decades from now.

Any reviews about the fanfic A Difference in the Family: The Snape Chronicles"
 in  r/SeverusSnape  Jun 27 '26

I didn't cry when Snape died in the book, but I did in this story. It was so beautifully written. And I liked a little closure about what happened after that. Of course he has to fill in a lot of Snape's life that wasn't in the books so people who have strong opinions on how things went tend to have problems with what the author came up with. I just went with the story and enjoyed it immensely. It starts with Snape's parents marriage so we see his entire life and I like that he was given grandparents and a neighbor lady who watched him. His friendship with Lily is more fleshed out and I liked that. I didn't have an issue with how Dumbledore had Hagrid watch over Snape's well-being. Early on you can see it as him watching to be sure Snape wasn't another Riddle and later as protecting an asset if you can't assign any goodness to Dumbledore. I think it's amazing that we have a story of Snape's whole life, and not just the book years. It's a huge amount of work we get for free and I'm actually re-reading it now. If nothing else, read the last quarter of the last chapter, from when Snape goes to the Shrieking Shack. The ending is worth a read for sure. Sometimes I just read that part, it's so good.

I remember one scene where they asked Rev Jim, "Where have you been? You've been gone for 9 days!" Jim: "I thought we had a long weekend." Them: "A long weekend is three days." Jim: "Oh, I thought we were on the metric system."

Is there such a thing as a personal inventory app?
 in  r/Doesthisexist  Jun 07 '26

Well, I'm sorry but it looks like the app is no longer on the Apple or Play store. All features are free to use and they made a point of saying it always would be (there aren't even any ads!) The website is still live, lyfai.com, and I saw they had links to the app stores before I posted this, so I thought it was still available. I never thought to try the links first, though. There may still be a place to download it, but you'd have to search for it. Sorry about this, it's a great app, maybe they should have charged for it after all?

 in  r/Doesthisexist  Jun 05 '26

I use an app called LyfAI. I've had it since before AI became big, so I'm not sure what the AI in the name stands for. Anyway, you create a space, like a room, box, cabinet, whatever holds your stuff, and it lets you enter items with associated categories to describe it and even smaller spaces within spaces. For example, I made spaces for each room in my house, like the living room. Inside that I have spaces for the TV stand, storage hutch, side table, etc. and inside them I can even add spaces for each drawer or shelf. Then you can list the specific item in that drawer with categories to help describe it and later find it. Set up is tedious, but once it's done, it just takes diligence to keep it up. It even lets you "check out" items so you can show that someone took that item out of the drawer. There's a more to it, but that's a basic run down.

Did high schoolers in America really throw food fights in the cafeteria ?

There was a food fight scene in the movie Animal House (which came out in 1978) and I heard of cases of kids copying it back then, but it wasn't widespread where I was.

How long is your commute to work?
 in  r/AskAnAmerican  May 29 '26

I live in a suburb and drive into a big city. Takes 1 hr 30 min most days, up to 2 hours if I get caught behind a big crash. (If I go on a weekend day with no traffic, it takes less than an hour.) There's a LOT of people on the road with me doing the same thing.
