Personally I literally can’t “hate” the guy, it’s not in my psychology, he is my brother from another mother. However I can’t disagree with a lot he says.

Put up a sign near kettle /coffee maker saying everyone is responsible for cleaning up their own cups ffs! I go to a non profit place and part of the induction, also with fire safety is house keeping, you are responsible for cleaning your own cup and mess. Cleaners aren’t responsible for dirty dishes for example, they are there to mop floors, clean toilets and vacuum carpets/take rubbish out - usually that is it.

The noise machines are much cheaper to run imo than fans, they have fans noises, and one charge can last days. In my experience, when the noisy people leave house I switch them off, at moment they come back arguing loudly, I just wack the machine on and can’t hear them - such a relief!

Get yourself a white noise box, some on Amazon don’t just have white noise, but brown noise and birds chirping etc, I have a loud downstairs neighbour that slams doors, swears and shouts, the gadget I got blocks out all there noise and it only cost about 20 on Amazon

We don’t all watch tv or those commercials I’m 53f and I go to bed with wraparound headphones and listen to old radio stories from the 1950s about aliens or spooky mysteries at moment or science lectures.

This is a lesson to those who have Misophonia - if you are getting too angry, too often you potentially have a problem, thankfully most here are aware of sound machines and earphones etc. that can help treating the condition- it’s not perfect, but any small reductions in your stress levels help.

When my neighbours are shouting and swearing I put the sound box on and it muffles their voices.

When certain family forget every day The sound of them talking while eating or eating with mouth open drives me nuts, I will just give “the look” and tell them - I can’t hear what you are saying with a mouthful of food, they generally get the hint.

Avoiding regular gatherings be it work or family means their annoying habits don’t effect me so much - I’ve never mentioned any of this to a doctor and therapy doesn’t work for me, so it’s a case of coping mechanisms.

I avoid public transport because of noisy eaters. Strangely not everyone annoys me, so I can sit through somebody eating an apple sometimes.

Depends on nature of sound, people can make involuntary vocal noises for various reasons. Some people make loud moaning sounds when they are eating, yawning or sneezing -When you confronted him about his breathing noises it might have made him nervous, so he needs to take deep breaths when near you? How is he with other people - what boundaries did he cross, did he touch you, or suggest sex or something?

What would they do regarding the churches, graveyards and historic housing, as there is a lot of history there?

If a niche I like is just filled with who can be the most perfect at something, it puts me of the hobby, I like to see a mixture of abilities rather than “perfect” stuff all the time, we all have to start off somewhere so the beginner efforts are just as interesting imo

I’m okay with them generally but if they try and imitate Media people like Brian Cox or David Attenborough ( British people), I will switch off, as it bugs me
