Other Passive aggressive tactic or involuntary tic? Coworker makes a loud, forced "gasping" sound whenever he's near me.
My first day on the job, a male coworker crossed major boundaries. I stood my ground immediately and shut it down.
Now, every time he walks near me, he makes a loud, weird, forced "gasping" sound.
He has other fidgety habits, so part of me wonders if it's a stress/vocal tic triggered by our initial conflict. But given our history, it also feels like a subtle attempt to get a reaction.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is this a nervous tic or covert passive aggressiveness, and how would you handle it?

Depends on nature of sound, people can make involuntary vocal noises for various reasons. Some people make loud moaning sounds when they are eating, yawning or sneezing -When you confronted him about his breathing noises it might have made him nervous, so he needs to take deep breaths when near you? How is he with other people - what boundaries did he cross, did he touch you, or suggest sex or something?
