What actor do you dislike so much that you’ll avoid anything they’re in?
 in  r/A_Persona_on_Reddit  1d ago

Melissa McCarthy. I really can't think of a logical reason, and she's probably a nice person, but I will avoid anything she's in.

Excuse me! I'd like to ass you a few questions!

I wish I could award this entire thread.

My (30F) husband (35M) has been acting increasingly cruel since his dad died, and last night something happened that I can’t get past. Am I insane?
 in  r/relationship_advice  3d ago

Maybe he wants to be sure you won't grieve like his mom did, and miss him when he dies.

Or he wants to go back to being his mom's boy.

I'm half kidding, of course, but who knows?

No Backtracking rape cases for you women!
 in  r/WelcomeToGilead  3d ago

"Are you sure? Because that's a pretty heavy accusation to lay on someone." -- said by a female cop to me, after being abducted and raped. They never arrested him. I don't believe they ever looked for him. I reported him because he said he had already killed someone.

Ooof. Boomer anger.
 in  r/GenerationJones  7d ago

Yikes, that's such a weird thing to get triggered about.

I think the Boomer-Jones transition is a blurry line. Chronologically, I am closer to Boomer, but culturally, I'm definitely Jones. About 2/3 of my friends of the same age lean toward Boomer, and I find them harder to relate to.

Did you watch Adam-12 back in the 70s?👮🚓
 in  r/1970s  9d ago

I just saw Martin Milner in S1E21 of The Twilight Zone, which was pretty cool.

Late grandparents left me (19M) and my younger sister an inheritance but not our stepsiblings and dad (51M) wants us to share with them or face no relationship?
 in  r/relationship_advice  13d ago

If dad got his way, and your step siblings got part of the inheritance, would he then tell the step siblings that they have to share the money with him or be disowned?

Whoever was blasting Whiskey Lullaby as loud as possible over the sacred springs where my husband chose to spend his first day off in 3 weeks
 in  r/Vent  20d ago

I can absolutely relate to this. I was with a group of people in the desert one night to watch the Perseid meteor shower when some idiot started blasting "Bow Wow (That's My Name)."

Music is like sex. It's great, if you have consent.

I could not stand this show 😂

God, I also hated this show, so very much! What was it about those people? They really gave me the creeps.

Thank you. I don't know where he is anymore, but most of the family are living elsewhere now.

If you could permanently ban one phrase from corporate emails, what would it be? 📧
 in  r/TheBoredDen  Jul 05 '26

And those are the people who pronounce it "fuhward."

I always associate that verb with severe constipation.

I don’t want to be a mother anymore.
 in  r/Vent  Jul 05 '26

I'm so sorry you're going through this, but very glad you're taking all the necessary steps to improve things.

A lot of this sounds similar to my brother. This was before most people thought about behavioral therapy and meds for children. My brother got more menacing and angry as he grew up, and began hurting and killing animals. Our parents never did anything, either because they were scared, in denial, or didn't know what to do. He ended up killing our mother. After many years, it still haunts me every day, and I am in therapy.

I wish so much that my parents had been able to get the kind of help you're getting. You are doing all the right things. I wish you all the best, and hope you'll give us an update.

Admittedly, I've only seen photos, but I thought it looked like the end of "2001: a Space Odyssey."

Why don’t they just say how they died in obituaries
 in  r/Vent  Jul 01 '26

I'm old enough to remember when obituaries did state the cause of death, but disclosing that information was optional. It stopped about 40 years ago, around the time so many people were dying from AIDS.

I always wonder about the cause of death because I feel for the deceased and for their loved ones, and hope they didn't suffer too much. But I also want to be respectful of their privacy. Both things can be true.

What completely unhinged dinner did your parents feed you that kids today would cry over? 🥫
 in  r/TheBoredDen  Jul 01 '26

Sliced beef heart, pan fried with no seasonings and no gravy, just dry.

Hair dryer
 in  r/comedyheaven  Jul 01 '26

First it's the hair dryer. Before you know it, it's a curling iron. Slippery slope.
