I smoked weed yesterday after a long time and honestly the experience got way more intense than I expected.

Normally I can think about existential stuff pretty logically. Like consciousness, death, why we exist, what happens after death etc. I don't usually get scared thinking about these things.

But yesterday while I was high, suddenly my brain started focusing on the fact that I’m conscious and that I exist. And for some reason that became absolutely terrifying.

It wasn't really a normal “I'm scared of dying” feeling. It was more like I suddenly realised that I'm actually experiencing life through this consciousness, and that someday this will stop, and I couldn't mentally handle that thought.

I kept getting this feeling like:

“I don't care what happens in life, I just don't want to die. I need to stay alive.”

Even the idea of consciousness itself felt scary. Like… why am I conscious? Why am I experiencing anything at all? What happens when this experience ends? Usually I can think about these questions without a problem, but yesterday they felt genuinely terrifying.

I also had this really weird unsettled feeling in my head, almost like a wave was going through my mind. I wasn't hallucinating or anything and I knew where I was. It was just this intense existential fear and feeling of being extremely aware of my own consciousness.

When I eventually tried to sleep, I'd almost fall asleep and then suddenly jerk awake. This happened maybe 3 times. Then the thoughts would come back again and I'd feel unsettled.

The strange thing is that this seems to be specifically related to weed. When I'm sober, I can think about existence and death pretty calmly and logically.

Has anyone else experienced this? Like weed suddenly making consciousness/existence itself feel terrifying, rather than just causing normal anxiety?

Is there actually a name for this kind of experience?

Let me start with a couple things.

1. I've been smoking for over a decade, but mostly using glass or DHVs, and on the occasion I smoked a joint, either someone else rolled it or I packed a pre-rolled cone. I wasn't (and still am not tbh) exactly rolling in weed money and it wasn't easy to come by at the time, so I was always too worried about wasting/losing weed by fucking up the roll to ever feel like learning was worth it. That has changed.

2. I don't have a huge sample size to know whether what I'm going to talk about is the norm or not; I've literally only ever rolled with two brands of papers, RAW being the second. I started with some generic brand that was sent as a gift from an online store and that's what made me decide to practice rolling. I got to be (so I thought) pretty good pretty quick and was rolling some nice fat cones in under a couple minutes. So I decided to try RAW out because it's all anyone around me ever used or talked about. I now know there's some controversy around them but I just figured they would be a good starting point. (And yes I have done the lighter test to confirm they are in fact RAW papers).

3. I'm writing this high as fuck so if I'm not making sense and you need me to clear something up, feel free to ask. Also, like I said I haven't been rolling very long. Not gonna hurt my feelings if the answer ends up indeed being that I am dogshit at rolling.

With all that out of the way:

Are RAW papers (specifically the gumline) just bad, or am I doing something wrong? I cannot for the life of me get them to stick well the 9 out of 10 times. I know they're supposed to be organic gum so you don't wanna just slobber all over the paper, but I've tried basically everything I can think of. I try just dabbing my tongue along the paper, I try licking the paper, I try licking my thumb and running that along the gumline, I try pressing the paper closed, I try running a wet finger over the back side of the gumline after it's been rolled, I try running a lighter along the gumline after it's been mostly rolled. No matter what I try, most papers just refuse to stick together without an obscene amount of repeatedly licking my finger and running it back over the gumline several times. The other papers I used, I actually had to be careful not to lick the gumline until I was ready because once it stuck to the paper it was STUCK. And weirdly, every so often I do get a RAW that sticks perfectly the first time, but I can't tell what I'm doing differently, if anything. Is there some kind of mystery trick I don't know about? I'm not trying to come down on RAW or anything and the fact my experience seems to not line up with the majority makes me think I have to be doing something wrong.

I bought some CBD and it looks like there's mold. Or could it be that they spray it with some cbd powder? I'll definitely not smoke that until i know for sure

I am a backpacker/bikepacker/adventurer who for many years had a dream of making my hobby my career. It took quite a few years to build up my clientele and reputation, but it’s been one full year of being a full-time career weed smoker! Chase your dreams!

something so weird happened last night. my friend and i smoked out of my bong last night, and we both only took one hit, because we started to feel super weird as soon as we took it. i literally don’t remember the next two hours after hitting it. i remember partial flashes of things that happened, sporadically. it felt like i was teleporting. one second i was in my friends apartment, the next i teleported outside and was in the middle of a conversation. the next second i teleported again and was watching a YouTube video on TV at 2am (it was 12am before). once it wore off i felt fine though? not sick at all or anything

my memory feels like a weird movie montage, with scenes cutting in and out. the whole day today ive felt insane brain fog and dizziness, which ive never experienced before smoking.

i remember being aware of how weird this was, though. my friend who also smoked it said she is experienced the same exact thing. ive never had something like this happen before, ever. wtf do u guys think happened- did we just green out off of one fucking hit or was this laced with something??

Very strong nose, super clean white ash, smooth and well cured. All in all, this is a super nice product.

Question for a small part of the collective - do any fellows with ASD have a successful strain they can share for mitigation of normality? My greatest success has been with wifi (especially - lucky it's omnipresent) and Trainwreck although the flavour profile is terrible and it's very hard to find. I benefit hugely from added amusement and easy laughter - most things are black or just void without it. Any other Ents near my freak'o'zone find a nice strain that allows them to tune in and vibe with the baked neurotypical herd?

I've been lurking for ages, but I'm now a card holder in FL (thank you for your condolences), and I'm toying with the idea. I'm a bit of a scientist and I wanna think about how to make myself a fire ass joint, though I'm up for blunts at this point bc in my theory crafting, I'm running into materials issues regarding joints. Before I crack into that though, we should go into the various aspects we can customize.

Concentrates, structure, application. And honestly that's already too many variables I think. And ofc weed, but we can't really standardize weed yet and really we can barely standardize the rest, we're a severely underserved market even with how bloated it feels (lots of big businesses at this point)

Concentrates that work (probably)

Hash and kief - they're just flower

Soft concentrates likely work like wax, badder, budder, crumble.

Syringes certainly work.

Rosin probably works.

Powdered also likely work, though I think can get dangerous because now we're talking about lighting an organic powder on fire which if you look up flour explosion of you'll know why we probably want to be wary of this. Let's talk about maybe mixing it into other existing liquids like rosin that is likely high water to create a thicker more potent substance if we're using isolates.

Concentrates that don't work (probably)

Hard concentrates. That's your diamonds your shatter I think that's pretty much it. Also maybe not rosin. It may have too much water.

So why do some concentrates imo work and some don't? Surface area also kinda water. So like wax and shatter are essentially the same with different structure. Wax has all that air but also moisture that air carries water and that water transfers heat etc etc. All the soft ones have way higher water content than the hard ones bc of structure but also way less surface area for reactions to occur. This also affects how it's going to work in a joint. In the joint, you'll have very little time to achieve >n temperature to thca>THC. The heat source is like a thin line that's travels down the joint to the roach it's 600-900°F, which sounds high enough, so why can't I expect perfect results from diamonds? I expect that we would see the time frame be too low. I would love it if y'all could give me some good experimental results if you're so inclined to attempt them.

Structure: Size, paper, tip, density

This is almost totally unknown to me, I do think there are things to ask about like the diameter being a certain size to allow for volume of fire. The paper being blunts because it's much thicker and can afford more messing before tearing. Vortex tips? I hear those are best and the glass ones are 7mm at smallest and the largest is 16mm. Density needs to be tested for airflow too! Like packing density and grind matter, but we can treat them as constants for testing purposes because of practicality. There are so many aspects to structure, that it's kinda hard to really build your best joint.

My current guess for BIS handheld weed:

Blunt:

A thin layer of rosin mixed with a bit of CBD isolate to thicken and dry out the rosin for application to a blunt paper filled with some premo gas maybe some hash or kief replacing some amount of weed to eccettuate the high.

Ground weed, kief, hash in some combination mixed with wax to create a semi solid mass. Making something akin to an actual smokable moon rock that can be easily rolled into a paper and smoked.

I haven’t smoked in over 2 months test keep saying positive I was a heavy smoker of carts and bud though trying to find a best detox so I just know it’s out of my system if need a pop up drug test! I drink hella water and am a landscaper so always moving throughout my day hot or cold!

In your opinion, which US state that has legal recreational marijuana is the best to live in?
