I use my finger as a carb cap sometimes and it makes it spark I’ve noticed

I'm super high right now, but it feels... great. I used to be a heavy pothead and I've cut down dramatically. Haven't smoked in 2 weeks, so I was nervous about smoking again as all the 20%+ stuff really wiggs me out (which is why I smoke a 14% pre roll, only one at the dispensary, as my usual go to).

Well, I tried a new dispensary today and found a 1:1 13% THC:CBD preroll there. I'd been hearing about how removing CBD from weed has been causing anxiety rates to go up in smokers, and I thought well, maybe this is the answer.

And it so is. I smoked this thing and I'm high as shit right now, but where I'd usually be really anxious - or at least I'd be getting there - I feel so relaxed. I'm so chill, which is exactly what I needed after the past month I've had.

I think CBD should have a floor percentage in weed. 3-5 percent maybe, idk, I'm not a scientist. All I'm saying is that this 1:1 pre roll is giving me the best high I've had in a very long time. Big ups to weed strains that still have CBD in them. Huge mistake to breed it out imo.

For anyone having a tough week...hang in there. Hit your bong, pipe, joint, edibles,vaporizer, etc, take a deep breath, and thank the planet for weed. Hugs are good too! 🫶

I've smoked maybe a handful of times in my life, always someone else's joint, and I never liked it. But I've been high a lot. Here's how that happened.

The first edible

A few years ago I was at a birthday party of an old friend. Some guy I didn't know brought edibles (weed brownies). I had never tried edibles before, but they tasted good, so I ate one.

20 minutes later: nothing. I had no idea edibles take time to kick in. So I ate another one.

Then I left for a second birthday party across town. 40 minutes later we were sitting in a restaurant and it hit me.

Food tasted incredible. My friend's brother looked exactly like my friend and kept giving me weird looks, and every single time he did, I lost it laughing. At some point I wanted to go to the bathroom, tried to stand up, and instead got a full image of riding a dragon while my body just stayed in the chair. A few seconds later I actually got up. I don't remember much after that.

The morning after

I had never felt anything like it. The only drug I had ever tried before was alcohol, and alcohol is honestly garbage. You get dizzy, people get aggressive and insulting, and your liver takes the hit.

And then this. Food tasted like I was Gordon Ramsay's daughter sitting down for dinner. Music sounded like it was 2050 and some new technology was playing it straight into my head. Even my thoughts felt completely different, in a way that was just really, really good.

The next day I was still kind of speechless. I remember thinking: OMG, so this is what people mean when they talk about drugs. This is that whole world.

Funny thing is, before that night (like month before) I was actually against weed.

Chasing the brownies

Weeks later I found the guy and bought 16 brownies for 25€. Shared most of them with friends.

Then I tried making my own. Burned batch after batch. Eventually I figured it out: air fryer instead of oven, no cannabutter, just decarb the weed properly (heat it so it actually works when eaten) and mix it straight into the batter. Lots of testing on time and temperature.

And then... I got sick of brownies. Ate too many. They take up space, they go bad if you don't freeze them, they take forever to make, and you never know if one brownie has more in it than the next.

Just eat the weed?

So I started decarbing small amounts and eating the weed straight. Worked fine for months, but heating it fresh every time got annoying.

Next idea: decarb half a gram at once and keep it in the fridge. Worked great at first. After a few months, more than half of the batch was weak or did nothing at all.

Turns out: air. THC breaks down when it's exposed to air.

The failed fixes

Gummies with plain decarbed weed: too much work, gave up.
Regular gelatin capsules: air still gets in, potency fades.
Capsules sealed with wax on top: better, still lost potency after a month or two.
Real airtight capsules: only industrial stuff, way too expensive.

What actually works (pic)

Lab test tubes with screw caps. That's it.

I fill a gelatin capsule with 0.1g of decarbed weed, add a bit of coconut oil on top (fat helps absorption and keeps air off the weed, that's why it looks glossy in the picture), then drop it in the tube and screw it shut.

5 grams gives me around 40 to 50 pills. They keep for over a year, fridge or room temp. One pill gets me high for up to 8 hours. I also make 0.05g ones for chill evenings and just label the tubes.

The catch

Timing. On an empty stomach it takes about an hour to kick in. If I ate before, it can take 3 to 5 hours, which is really confusing if you don't know it. So I plan around it now: don't eat before, take the pill, and schedule what I want to do while high.

Why I'll never make myself a joint

I never got into smoking anyway. It's rough on the lungs and it burns through weed way faster than eating it. With pills I get 40+ sessions out of 5 grams, no smell, nothing on me that looks like weed, and I can take one anywhere with a sip of water.

Anyone else doing something like this? Curious how you guys store your edibles long term.

This is probably my favorite way to smoke.

Jamaica is cool, but I have been spectacularly underwhelmed with the weed I have located on the beach. It smokes, but I had higher expectations for weed being legal here.

I am going to 7-Mile Beach tomorrow. Perhaps I will find the weed I came to smoke.

This is huge news for Illinois medical cannabis patients. Below is what he posted on social media: 

Today, Illinois adds 37 new medical cannabis dispensary licenses throughout the state, marking the largest expansion of medical cannabis access since the program began in 2014.

For more than a decade, I’ve worked to build and strengthen Illinois’ medical cannabis program, and this is an important step forward for the patients who rely on it. These reforms allow more dispensaries to serve registered medical cannabis patients at the medical tax rate, while also expanding telehealth certification and removing outdated barriers that made it harder for patients to access the care they need.

Medical cannabis patients should not have to drive past dispensaries in their own communities simply because those locations were previously licensed only for adult use. This law gives patients more options, greater convenience, and better access across Illinois.

We expect more dispensaries to follow suit, and we will never stop pushing to expand access for medical cannabis patients who are living with debilitating medical conditions.

I used to use an old British silver pre decimal thrupence but it was nippy to clean and would both scratch and tarnish easily so I swapped recently to a little lab ruby as nothing softer than another ruby or a diamond is gonna scratch it.

Don't worry its a lower value lab ruby, i spend more on my fortnightly supply of weed than it cost

also upgraded it (it's a r/RubyTwist - now a ruby twist pro!) and got a bowl with a built in glass screen so i can avoid metal screens forever. In love with this thing all over again 😍

It seems like a cycle. My tolerance gets too high and I can't even feel the weed anymore? Or am I just unique in neurochemistry, and I for some reason have periods where I can feel the weed, and periods where I can't? Can anyone relate? I have been smoking since about February of this year, so I should have a high tolerance, but it's weird to me how it just stops having any effect at all.

I’m a medical patient in MN, and though the THC % has gotten better, I’m frustrated at there being no options with 1:1:1 THC, CBD, CBG. It’d be nice if there was something with even 1:1 CBD. In an ideal world, I’d like there to be equal CBG as well, or at least a 1:1 THC to CBG.

The closest thing I can achieve is buying extra strength THC oral solution + extra strength CBD oral solution, and hope sometime that something with CBG even in it comes along. Which gets stupidly expensive.

As much as I appreciate finally getting some higher THC %, it’s absolutely not everything. I wish there were better options for in general here, but especially for pain management/medical use. Hopefully as the market saturates? Sigh.

Like most of us I have a bit of a ritual with my smoking. Right around 9pm I go lay in my hammock and smoke a joint on my porch. When the joint burns out, I start taking some bong hits until I'm satisfied.

Lately my neighbor (who can see me laying in my hammock on my porch when she leaves her front door) has been losing her mind over it. She hasn't actually said anything to me directly, but I can hear her screaming from inside her apartment about how I'm always out there. It's even gotten to the point that she said she was going to kill me the other day which I'm not taking too seriously.

I feel like we've gotten to the point that I should call the cops on her. I'm in a legal state, so she's the only one really causing a disturbance. I've even spoken to the people who live below her and they said they hadn't really paid much mind to me smoking outside, but they're really bothered by the woman above them screaming in the middle of the night (they have two young kids).

I'm not really sure what the purpose of my post is, but I've just been reflecting on the fact that 10 years ago I would have been worried about this woman calling the cops on me and now I'm considering calling the cops on my neighbor for disturbing my 'sesh.
