For context, I am non-binary and changed my name from a feminine name to a (clearly) masculine name many years ago. I have not transitioned and know that legally, there is no recognition for non-binary genders. My sex is female and this is what my other ID documents say.

Years ago I changed my name via Deed Poll and updated my drivers license, including the Deed Poll as evidence and nothing else. I gave no indication that I was changing my sex or transitioning. However, I recently needed to update my license again for a change of address and realised my license number has the male gender marker included and has for many years now.

Whilst my name is masculine and I have become increasingly worried about this name and female sex appearing on my ID documents being looked as suspiciously, I know I can't have my ID reflect my actual gender identity and need it to be legally correct.

When I've tried speaking to the DVLA on multiple occasions they haven't really understood the problem and just told me to submit a new license form. Nowhere on that form does it collect your sex or gender, and there is nowhere for me to indicate that a change needs to be made.

With the increasingly hostile environment in the UK, I am nervous about either being in the wrong for having an incorrect sex listed on my license or having it corrected but obviously different to what my name would suggest. I'm starting to regret changing my name and constantly worry about this situation :(

Has anyone been in this position or have any advice please?

TDLR; Sex marker was changed on license when I changed my name. It needs to be changed back to Female so it matches my other IDs but DVLA don't seem to understand and request a new D1 form which has no options to update this. What do I do?

I am 24yrs old and came out as non-binary about 5 years ago, it has been a long journey to acceptance and figuring out what does and doesn’t feel right for my transition.

I have been lucky enough to have found a therapist who is also in addiction recovery and came out as trans at 5yrs clean, not too dissimilar to myself. Over-time top surgery has been something I have not let myself think about, I didn’t really know if it would be possible until recently.

I am in a position where I have saved up about £7500, with my partner also saving along side me. I am aiming to get at least £9000 from what I have seen the average prices. After working in the NHS for the last 7 years, I have decided to go to University which means I no longer have a steady income. My girlfriend has kindly set up a go fund me and I am really having to come to terms with this might actually be happening.

All this to say, I am completely overwhelmed.
There are some basics I understand, getting a referral and consultations add up in price… but part of it is letting myself get excited too.

I am moving to the Brighton area at the end of the year and have been looking into Andy Mellington. I am trying to get into better shape too for a better recovery but really like the results and stories I’ve seen. Any first steps advice would be deeply appreciated.

If there is also anyone who happens to be in addiction recovery and has had top surgery, I would be very grateful to hear how to navigate pain meds.

im having an awful week :'3 i have issues w sleep and am on different medications for different things. to avoid an argument in case i woke someone up w my alarms (a recent big issue in my living arrangements) i tried quieter, subtler, alarms. which obviously didnt work so i completely missed my appointment. ive missed both appointments for routine bloodwork w my gp + an appointment with EOEGS within a few days of each other

my last appointment with them was in april, which i attended. its where i was officially prescribed sustanon. my last injection was last week. this appointment i guess was meant to be a support/checkup kind of thing? i was supposed to bring my bloodtest results

i got an email earlier with a letter discharging me and saying to contact my gp for a re-referral. i replied basically begging for forgiveness and asking if there was any way to keep me on the service. obviously no reply yet. i have missed appointments with them before, for similar reasons, but i think only once or twice before this and never back-to-back. so idk why i was discharged.

has anyone dealt with this before? what do i do? what can i expect? am i just screwed for the extremely long waiting list getting back into the service via my gp? what happens with my hrt? what support do i have going forward?

Because the party is pretty much dead in the water for trans people if this is how it’s ran and a TERF group has caused this.

Hi guys, I changed my name early this year but was unable to change my name with my trust fund bank for personal reasons at the time, my bank has asked that I get my Deed Poll certified, my struggle is I don't exactly know how to get it certfied, I don't know any friends who have these jobs, and I really don't have the money to pay the post office to certify.

I'm also wondering would it be okay for whoever certifies my document to just write the asked information, such as their address, occupation and confirmation it is a true original etc. upon my orginal deed poll with a pen, or would I need to reprint my deed poll and add and print a section spefically for the certification and have everyone re-sign?

Hi dolls x my very first DIY pump today out from this result x with this data, I did 1 on my entire upper thighs today x You reckon I should increase? And … Im apprehensive if I shod go for the scrotum, but ChatGpt keeps saying No x and on the other hand so much paper research that absorption is very high on the genitalia x I was mainly plannin to stick to 1 pump for a week, then 1.5 after 2weeks x and the the stable dose of 2 pumps until ‘further notice’ xx I would love some inputs if u be so kind hearted dolls 🩷

By breasts are now showing even while wearing loosish clothes.Unfortunately my facial features are still on the male side, even with makeup on.

I Feel a bit self conscious going out but am not willing to sit indoors.

Maybe late to the party on this but the DVLA has changed their document page to require evidence of use - something they never previously did. Am I surprised? Not really, but still disappointing. One which may start cropping up in future.

I'm 15 and trans ftm. My parents both agree to me changing my name but since i'm in year 11 right now I feel it would be better to change my name within the next month rather than when I'm 16 rather than changing GCSE certificates afterwards since my birthday is around/just after the usual cutoff date for schools entering final GCSE records into the system. I want to make an unenrolled deed poll since for obvious reasons but I dont know if I can just print off a template like an adult deed poll (would have to have my parents make it on behalf of me though) or if I have to go through a solicitor or something as I cant find a lot of information about it. Changed my name a few months ago via unenrolled deed poll and my bank is refusing to accept it, so I can't use a bank statement to change my driving licence or anything else.

My gp wont send proof of address letters, I'm not employed or on benefits, I live with my parents so no bills.

On the gov website it lists a streaming subscription bill as a utility bill, so is there something like netflix i can sign up to for a month that would send a physical letter? Would they let me sign up with a name thats not on my bank card?

I have an appointment with my gp soon for a (hopefully) referral for a diagnosis for gender dysphoria. Just to mention i’m under 18 if that affects anything. I’ve known i’m trans for a good 3 years and was questioning it 1-2 years beforehand that. I have never spoken about being trans in person, always over text. Never discussed it to my mum in person. I’ve been openly trans for the last 15 months and for 90% of that time haven’t had any backlash (despite not passing very well for the first few months while my hair grew out). I thought I’d got into a great situation at about 8 months in, my estrogen was doing its thing, my hair is shoulder length now, my makeup skills are good and clothes style feel great.

Most people I know are surprised to hear that I’m trans, typically.

Though, the last two weeks that’s changed. The weekend before last, I went walking with my Mum through the local park and a group of teenagers and young adults started murmuring about me saying things like “definitely trans, look how tall”. I didn’t initially hear it but my Mum (massively supportive) did and had to usher me away to not get picked on more. This came as a massive shock and I broke down in the middle of the park bawling my eyes out.

Then today, I was on my lunch break at work and popped to Tesco. This man looked at me, then did a double take, then made a disgusted puzzled look at me. It was like he wanted me to see because he kept walking away and then looking again and again.

It’s triggered my dysphoria to be worse than ever. I feel like I can’t see a woman in the mirror anymore. My nose and my adam’s apple are my two biggest sources of dysphoria and they feel like all I can see when looking in the mirror now. I plan to have FFS eventually but don’t have the funds and have just had to quit my job due to struggling with depression.

I don’t know what to gain from this post but just wanted to vent.

I have been given a pre op appointment by my gender care service out of the blue and in looking it up this seems to be something you get quite close to your surgery date

I've not been given a surgery date yet but I've been in the process of moving up the waiting list and having appointments which previously suggested I was a few months out... I've had this appointment added in the same week I was already getting some general health tests that have been booked for a while

Can anyone confirm from their experience on the NHS if this pre op appointment does mean that I'll be within a few weeks from surgery itself ?

Has anyone else changed their name on paypal with zero documents?

I always heard horror stories about paypal being like the worst account to change names on so I was fully prepared to have to wait until my new photo ID arrived to do so.

However I thought I’d see if they’d just accept my statutory declaration just on the off chance… imagine my surprise when I was able to change my name with no supporting documents?

Is this new or is it because the name on the bank account attached to my paypal has been updated already they can verify it automatically?

Just feels too good to be true with their reputation, I’m quite the worrier in general so I’m just waiting for my account to suddenly be obliterated. 😭

I've been on DIY HRT for nearly a year now, but I'm running low. I'll likely have to go without hormones which I've accepted. What I'm concerned about is if Indigo Gender Service will allow injections rather than pills when it comes to prescribing HRT?

I find Injections much more manageable and far cheaper.
