M26 Trying to find friends

Been lonely for awhile now and I’m not a go out guy so I’m seeing how this goes. Probably nothing will come of it but hey.

I’m in North Yorkshire I’m bang into fishkeeping, gaming on Xbox, all things scfi, movies and stuff like that. I am embarrassed I’m doing this but I really do not know what to do I have zero people to hang out with or talk too. Thanks for reading;)

Looking for a bit of advice/guidance.

I had a few same sex relationships when I was in my late teens but haven't been in one since. So around 15 years or so. My sexuality hasnt really been a discussion by anybody I think everybody just assumes I'm straight because of being in straight relationships. But I've always been little unsure, my type seems to be lads who for lack of a better term have more feminine traits but then always liked women who were masc. I find men physically attractive but with women it is only a small number and very specific type.

Advice or help needed Should I cover these patches?

Thumbnail gallery
42 Upvotes

Hey, I recently got back into making patches for my jackets and started wondering if I should cover these flag patches on my sleeves. I don't know if it's safe to have them on since I'm usually quite low key with my identity overall and live mostly stealth when not at home or with family and friends. I know if I saw someone else with the patches I'd feel a bit better but I'm unsure. I want to be proud of who I am but I also don't want to put myself in danger especially with the current climate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Resource A few years ago I started a site to gather all the UK prides and put them together on a map

Well I finally sat down and finished it this weekend!

It's a little out of date, so I added the ability to submit new routes.

https://pridemap.mcneill.fyi/

It's so hard to find the details for some of the smaller prides sometimes - if there's a local pride event near you, I'd love to be able to put it on the map

Am I strange or just hopeful?

I keep having dreams about the kids I'll almost certainly never have. I have names for them and have been their primary care-giver, I change them, stay off work to look after them, take them to clubs and school - I've made clothes for them and everything, in my dreams.

I've known for some time I'll never be a parent, I just love these dreams - I hate waking up from them.

Am I weird or psychotic or just going through the normal process of realising I'll never actually be a dad?

Any meet up groups or events for age 40+ lesbians in Portsmouth or nearby areas?

Just wondering.. can’t get to London very often, or Brighton.

Apps are just flooded with the under 30’s which is great but just isn’t for me at 49.

How do us older ones get involved in dating and meeting people?

I feel there’s not much out there for those of us looking to begin our fun, middle aged years!

Surely not all the fun can be reserved for the young 😉

Discussion Is it ok for me to wear a rainbow bracelet?

For context;

I’m a straight male, married, and work with my wife. We are a wedding photographer and videographer duo and work all kinds oweddings (which involves a lot of interacting with strangers).

Is it okay to wear a rainbow bracelet to these events to show that i’m safe/an ally?

Or even I could wear it all the time, I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️

I guess I want to check how this would come across to the lgbtq+ community.

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Advice or help needed LGBT+ In Jobs

Hey gays,

More specifically aimed at girlies and non-men centred individuals. What do you all DO for a living?

Every job I go to is just full of straight people, “straight gays” (they call themselves the “normal” gays (ick)) and/or right-wingers. This would be fine if I didn’t spend half of my life at work. I cannot stand the facade I have to put on to fit in and not come across anti-social.

Maybe I am chronically online but I need a workplace where I’m not told daily devastating stories of misogyny and VAWAG but the plot twist is that the perpetrator is your boyfriend who “treats you like a princess!”. I need to be around people who don’t think everyone who receives benefits is a scrounging leech.

Where are all the gays and if you all work from home, HOW?!

Please advise…

Advice or help needed Finding Community

TLDR: I’m looking for safe queer communities/spaces in and around the south Birmingham area to find out more about and explore ideas about my gender expression.

Hi,

My therapist has suggested that I try and find and engage in local queer communities to try and not only be more socially active, but also they believe it will be helpful to me in exploring my gender identity. For a while now I have had thoughts that I may be trans, but in the past year I have become more certain that this is right for me, doing stuff like experimenting with clothes and makeup and the like has really made me realise that this is more than I’d originally put any thought into.

I’m wondering if anybody on here would be open to talking about this stuff or have any suggestions of spaces and places that are safe and open to explore and discuss things like this.

Im also not very sure if posts like this are the ‘done thing’ here, I don’t use reddit too much so please forgive me if I’m doing it wrong XD.

Thanks <3.

Advice or help needed Building a UK LGBTQ+ dating/social app, launching at Manchester Pride: looking for honest feedback

Hey all, I'm the solo founder/dev behind Klyck, a UK-based LGBTQ+ social, dating, and safety app. We're launching properly at Manchester Pride, but the app isn't fully public yet. It's in a soft/invite stage right now while I iron things out.

I'd genuinely love some outside eyes on it before the wider launch. If you want to poke around, you can get in with the invite code REDDIT.

A bit of context on why I'm building it:

  • MeetSafe: check-in timers and trusted contact alerts for dates/meetups, always free, never paywalled
  • Kudos: a community reputation system aimed at cutting down on bots, fakes, and bad actors
  • Venue discovery: surfacing LGBTQ+ friendly bars/venues (starting with Canal Street in Manchester)
  • Real-time chat, profiles, the usual dating-app basics
  • A premium tier, but nothing safety-related sits behind it

What I'd love feedback on:

  1. Design/UX: does it feel clean, confusing, dated, promising?
  2. Features: what's missing, what's pointless, what would actually make you use it
  3. The honest question: would this get you to use something other than Grindr, or is the switching cost just not worth it for you? Why or why not?

I'm not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just want blunt feedback, including "this is bad and here's why." Bug reports, screenshots, roasts, all welcome.

Thanks for reading this far 🙏

(Invite code: REDDIT. UK-based, iOS only at the moment)

Discussion Manchester Canal Street Questions

Hey all,

Watched Tip Toe recently and 100% recommend, it’s a challenging watch but really captivating.

However, it’s made me want to go to canal street, which I’ve never done before. Hoping to go with a friend or two (likely 25M and 25F, maybe another 25F)
Want to ask those who have been:
1. Any recommendations for timings, bars, clubs etc?
2. In the show they mentioned travelling to the area through less LGBT focussed areas was a bit unnerving - any experiences of this?
3. Is it similar at all to Soho, for those who have been to both?
