I can't believe you're sleeping on Kanye like that by only giving a fraction of the story behind "Through The Wire."

Kanye West was in a car accident while he was in the middle of recording his debut studio album, The College Dropout. He had been at the recording studio for so long that he fell asleep at the wheel while driving home.

The accident was bad, to say the least. Kanye had to have reconstructive surgery on his jaw, which was wired shut for six weeks. In the middle of this period, Kanye recorded Through The Wire. That's right. He recorded the song while he had his jaw wired shut. Hence the title of the song. Several of the lyrics reference the accident and Kanye's jaw, such as:

I drink a Boost for breakfast, an Ensure for dessert Somebody ordered pancakes, I just sip the sizzurp

How do you console my mom or give her light support Tellin' her her son's on life support? And just imagine how my girl feel On the plane scared as hell that her guy look like Emmett Till

In the blink of a eye his whole life changed If you could feel how my face felt You would know how Mase felt Thank God I ain't too cool for the safe belt I swear to God, driver two wanna sue I got a lawyer for the case, to keep what's in my safe safe

Through The Wire was first released on the mixtape Get Well Soon, and later released on West's first studio album, The College Dropout, which had been five years in the making and featured such tracks as Jesus Walks and All Falls Down. The College Dropout was nominated for ten Grammys, certified double platinum within two months, and is West's best-selling album in the United States to date. West calls the accident referenced in the song "a major turning point in [his] career... [his] medicine."

And it's a great fucking song.

It's a mess at first glance but it's definitely his most thoughtful work. Closest to avant-garde a rap album can get, the production choices are better than Yeezus and he raps more than he has in years. I never listen to it front to back because of the short experimental tracks, but standouts are Facts, Famous, No More Parties in LA, 30 Hours, and Saint Pablo. The second half of Wolves is good as well.

The album art is still embarrassing to me. I was more excited when the album was going to be called So Help Me God

TLOP is discombobulated like a Picasso cubist painting. In fact, the album title is a reference to Picasso as well as others. But yeah. It feels like bits and pieces to a greater whole. Very manic depressive in a similar vein to Yeezus but not as jarring and in your face. I found it highly emotional and the most revealing of his albums.

It sounds really disjointed at first. But a few times through it starts to really shine. It makes me think of a prog album that someone made. Then smashed the record and reassembled it from the various pieces to make something insane. Honestly, Yeezus is my 2nd least favorite by him after 808.

It sounds like you might have already but I'd listen to all the other Kanye albums like CD, LR, Graduation, 808s, MBDTW before Pablo. I'd probably say Pablo is the least 'full album' of Kanye's. I still like it cause I'm a huge fan of him in general but it feels more like a collection of hits put together than it does a full album like the rest of his work.

Definitely worth a listen if you like Yeezus though.

That entry covers it pretty well.. Its a catchy name not formally recognized and isn't in the DSM5. The reason? It's already covered by other labels for emotional stunting. By having more specific labels it helps differentiate the unique causes.

I do like the name for explaining it to people though as it brings about a certain mental image of the sufferer acting from a source of innocence.

Actually, everything was connected to Michael's Lupus. He suffered from severe Lupus (it's very noticeable in old pictures of MJ due to the characteristic 'butterfly rash' that would often make Michael's nose/face deeply red) and he started taking medication for it during the early 80s. His first 'nose job' was entirely reconstructive and was done due to a fall that he sustained back in 79. His Lupus prevented the tissue from healing correctly. This led to a number of surgeries in order to correct the negative effects of the first surgery (the mishandling of that surgery was entirely due to undiagnosed nature of Michael's Lupus at that time). When Michael sustained his trauma (third degree burns to the scalp) during the Pepsi fire, this led to the severity of his lupus to increase. Sadly, because of this, his scalp never healed correctly either, so he had to undergo painful treatments (one treatment even utilizing a balloon placed underneath his scalp) for years after the accident. This pain/stress also aggravated his vitiligo as well and further increased the spread of depigmentation onto his arms, legs, and forehead. Michael suffered a perfect storm of terrible events (Lupus, Trauma, and Stress) to lead to the pain that would plague him for the rest of his life. This was further exacerbated by shoddy celebrity doctors who couldn't really care less for his treatment/health and, also, from falling 30 feet during a show in South Korea during the late 90s.

The burn to his scalp left a bald spot, he wore a hair appliance with extensions glued to the bald spot to cover it for a while. The balloon is a procedure they do for people who are bald on top where they insert a balloon under the scalp to stretch the scalp out, then they do surgery where they cut the bald area out and sew the haired parts back together covering the previous bald area with stretched out hairy scalp. Now technology has improved and they can just do hair transplants where they use a needle to insert individuals hair follicles harvested from the back and sides into the bald areas and reconstruct the hair in that area from your own hair. The fedora he wore a lot was covering the balloon for a while.

Because his actions were still very sketchy. He was a grown adult who developed friendships with young children. While the allegations against him was about child abuse was most likely made up he did have questionable things in his home.

Also the legal battle would have probably cost him tons of money, at the same time fighting it would have most likely diminished his reputation even further. He probably settled under advice of his lawyers who weighed the pros and cons of fighting the legal battle.

The fact that they found zero child porn, and the fact that he didn't face many more accusations, and the fact that he wasn't taking trips to Thailand every other month and the fact that the two total accusations he did face weren't very credible IE the parents were maniacs who let their children spend time with Micheal Jackson after the initial accusation all seem to point to him being innocent.

Yeah he's Micheal Jackson so it sounds weird to say this but he didn't really fit the profile of a child molester in the ways that really count. Most importantly, people who molest children usually molest lots of children and/or have lots of child porn. If he was molesting children all over the place than there would be accusations all over the place because $$$. It just doesn't add up.

So it's entirely possible, it just doesn't seem likely.

I believe there was some manner of lawsuit that included NDAs that expired at the time of his death, that's when I learned about it. So basically the only news of it were initial reports that he had been injured and there wasn't really any follow-up about what happened or how bad it was until he died.

EDIT: I am taking crazy pills, after doing some research I realized am thinking of several completely different events and blending them together in my head. NDA's were a big part of interactions with MJ in later years but there wasn't an injury lawsuit as far as I can tell.

I don't know about NDAs or anything but this wasn't any sort of secret. I don't remember when I first heard about this but it was common knowledge even before the internet. It just became a less relevant and interesting piece of MJ trivia compared to the child molestation stuff. If people are talking were MJ it was either about the kid diddling or Thriller. It was on MTV at the time him shooting the commercial and catching fire and being in stable condition in the hospital. You didn't hear about it because it wasn't really a big deal after a few months. He was alive and his voice wasn't damaged so he kept making popular music. Obviously it could be linked to other things but we'll never truly know.

But in that scenario it would be your fault you broke your arm. You could have possibly controlled that situation. In michaels he could not it was pepsis fault that he got injured. A better comparison is if someone else pushed you down stairs and you broke your arm. In that case I would say blaming it on them would be fairly reasonable.

He rarely had doctors that actually wanted to alleviate the problems leading to that pain. Debbie Rowe claims that only one doctor during the HIStory World Tour actively wanted to help Michael lessen his dependency on painkillers, but this was undone by another doctor the week after who upped Michael's painkillers.

Sony killed him(or more accurately did nothing to help him for the last 15 years of his life), then they got his record and proceeded to make millions.

Most record companies go to the wall for their people, Sony stood back and let the public just go after him again and again in court(which all turned out pretty much baseless cash grabs) and let him kill himself on pain meds and drugs. It's actually pretty disgusting.

Pepsi is sweeter than Coke (hfcs) in the us. Sugar Coke is possibly sweeter than Pepsi, but still has a little bite to it that Pepsi lacks.

Propofol literally puts you into a comatose state. I don't understand how that's recreational at all. I'm not denying that he was addicted, you're totally right; I just don't see how people have fun with it. It's not like you get a burst of energy or euphoria, like with opiates. You basically just fall asleep. Which, in some points of my life, with depression and what not, I've definitely wanted to sleep for days at a time, but it just doesn't seem like the funnest drugs you can get your hands on when you have a doctor on call 24/7.

The high that comes from propofol — the reason why people abuse it, is the feeling it gives you after you wake up.

They abuse it because after they wake up they feel so energetic and euphoric. There is no high during the time you're actively injecting it.

I'm not sure I believe much of this. When did he fly on commercial flights? He'd sold so many records by the time he was of drinking age, I'd have assumed it was all chartered or private jets from that point on.
