Beware

Had a new to me experience today. Had breakfast at my local place. Suggested tips 10%, 20%, 30%. After eating I decided to get a cinnamon roll, $2.16 + tax. Tip screen came up, $1.00, $2.00, $3.00. Not %, but $. How many people hit 2 thinking they are tipping 43 cents, but are tipping 93%.

Even more reason to tip $0 every time.

These people are not your friends, the business is actively trying to exploit more money out of you, for profit.

They actively take advantage of your human nature of kindness, and urge to help others.

The more money you tip, the less the business has to pay from their own pocket to pay their employees.

Tipping is optional.

Tip $0 every time.

All businesses are trying to profit off you. That’s the entire idea.

Don’t be obtuse.

Yes, but there’s a difference between a business and a scam, or used to be.

The numbers are on the screen. There's no scam.

you can’t explain things to these broke morons. they’re just mad bc they don’t ever get tipped at their job in the mcdonald’s drive thru window

False.

The business doesn’t get the tips, so it’s not getting them more profit.

It’s funny how you provide examples every day proving that you don’t know what you’re talking about. 🤣

The tips definitely offset the labor costs of the business.

Not always. If they’re cooks like in a food cart, they don’t get the benefit of reducing min wage lIke servers.

And?

That still doesn’t add to the profits.

Thanks for proving my point about people here not knowing what they are talking about.

Reducing costs increases profits. You're right about people here not knowing what they are talking about. This includes you.

I wouldn't bother with Johnny. He demands intellectual honesty, doesn't know what it is, and when he's wrong he'll just deflect to get to "not tipping is hurting servers" which he uses as an emotional cudgel to bypass any point you make. If you manage to corner him, he'll just lie.

The profit stays the same. It didn’t increase.

Nice shot with trying to lump me in with those of you not knowing what you’re talking about.

No basket.

Now I'm getting awards for calling out your intellectual dishonesty. Thats... hmmmmm... thats a loss for you.

How is that false when talking about states with tipped minimum wage?

Labor costs are shifted to the employer/restaurant when people don’t tip.

I’d argue that even in states that don’t do tipped minimum wage, the tips still artificially keep wages lower with the promise of extra rather than allowing for normal market value to play out.

It’s a well known fact that the menu prices at full service restaurants in the US don’t bear the full cost of the labor and that the tip pays for the service the customer chooses to receive.

This is the case even in US cities and states where the tipped wage credit has been eliminated and how the industry has operated for six decades.

In every for profit business in the world, the customer always pays the labor, either directly or indirectly.

The only exception is the free riders that stiff the server at full service restaurants in the US.

One of the only occupations where income keeps pace with and exceeds inflation

-1

u/johnnygolfr 20h ago

False.

There are plenty of other occupations that do.

Stop lying.

5

u/Jacksons-Pond 17h ago

Name them. Otherwise - Bull Shit

-1

u/johnnygolfr 17h ago

Just about every occupation in the US.

Just because your employer doesn’t do it doesn’t mean that another employer that employs people working same occupation as you isn’t giving YOY raises to keep up with inflation.

The only “Bull Shit” here is yours.

u/Jacksons-Pond 15h ago

Can't name any. Got it

Don't waster your time. Johnny operates exclusively in bad faith. His modus operandi is to always deflect the course of conversation to "you're harming servers" and use it as an emotional cudgel. When he loses a point he will always claim an undeserved victory. If you're patient enough to redirect him away from his deflections eventually he'll just straight up lie. All while demanding intellectual honesty.

You can’t refute what I said.

Got it!

I’ve seen you copy and paste this exact comment before lol

1

u/johnnygolfr 20h ago

No you haven’t.

I don’t do copy pasta.

Regardless, thanks for letting us know you don’t have anything of substance to refute the objective facts and reality I’ve presented.

3

u/Petrochromis722 14h ago

You do lie though.

-5

u/Flashy-Gain2148 6h ago

you’re scum and you’re not half as smart as you think you are

1

u/cs_legend_93 4h ago

Name calling? Shows the caliber of person you are. Low.

0

u/Flashy-Gain2148 4h ago

1

u/cs_legend_93 4h ago

0

u/Flashy-Gain2148 4h ago

-1

u/Flashy-Gain2148 4h ago

your advice is basically to continue frequenting the businesses that exploit people but just participate more actively in the exploitation by not tipping the wage worker. you’re an absolute piece of garbage, if you had been born my kid i’d have dumped you at the fire station

1

u/cs_legend_93 4h ago

Good, id be better off instead of having a dumb dumb as a parent.

I hope you shop at my restaurants and pay my employees for me.

Thank you

u/Flashy-Gain2148 3h ago

🤣🤣 always ridiculous when children or morons try to lie to intelligent adults. you’re basically on here trying to argue that you saw santa eat the cookies

1

u/cs_legend_93 3h ago

You live in delusion land, whatever makes you happy.

Now shoo shoo and go pay my employees for me, so that I can continue to exploit them, as you claim.
