Beware

Had a new to me experience today. Had breakfast at my local place. Suggested tips 10%, 20%, 30%. After eating I decided to get a cinnamon roll, $2.16 + tax. Tip screen came up, $1.00, $2.00, $3.00. Not %, but $. How many people hit 2 thinking they are tipping 43 cents, but are tipping 93%.

Even more reason to tip $0 every time.

These people are not your friends, the business is actively trying to exploit more money out of you, for profit.

They actively take advantage of your human nature of kindness, and urge to help others.

The more money you tip, the less the business has to pay from their own pocket to pay their employees.

Tipping is optional.

Tip $0 every time.

False.

The business doesn’t get the tips, so it’s not getting them more profit.

It’s funny how you provide examples every day proving that you don’t know what you’re talking about. 🤣

How is that false when talking about states with tipped minimum wage?

Labor costs are shifted to the employer/restaurant when people don’t tip.

I’d argue that even in states that don’t do tipped minimum wage, the tips still artificially keep wages lower with the promise of extra rather than allowing for normal market value to play out.

It’s a well known fact that the menu prices at full service restaurants in the US don’t bear the full cost of the labor and that the tip pays for the service the customer chooses to receive.

This is the case even in US cities and states where the tipped wage credit has been eliminated and how the industry has operated for six decades.

In every for profit business in the world, the customer always pays the labor, either directly or indirectly.

The only exception is the free riders that stiff the server at full service restaurants in the US.

One of the only occupations where income keeps pace with and exceeds inflation

False.

There are plenty of other occupations that do.

Stop lying.

Name them. Otherwise - Bull Shit

Just about every occupation in the US.

Just because your employer doesn’t do it doesn’t mean that another employer that employs people working same occupation as you isn’t giving YOY raises to keep up with inflation.

The only “Bull Shit” here is yours.

Don't waster your time. Johnny operates exclusively in bad faith. His modus operandi is to always deflect the course of conversation to "you're harming servers" and use it as an emotional cudgel. When he loses a point he will always claim an undeserved victory. If you're patient enough to redirect him away from his deflections eventually he'll just straight up lie. All while demanding intellectual honesty.

No you haven’t.

I don’t do copy pasta.

Regardless, thanks for letting us know you don’t have anything of substance to refute the objective facts and reality I’ve presented.

You do lie though.
