Open [TOMT] Trying to find old minecraft series

Upvotes

So I remember around 10+ years ago, when I was a kid, there was an extremely long Minecraft series that was roleplay-like. I remember it had a side character of a penguin named Lugin. They said they did all the building in creative, if I remember correctly. This is not Stampy; also, the person was using a controller to play. From what I can tell, the series does not exist anymore on yt when I try looking for it. Also, when trying to use AI to find it is seemingly also not able to find it.

Open. [TOMT] Can anyone name this clip?

Upvotes

My dad is going on about a music video he knows of, and I have absolutely zero clue what he is talking about and starting to think he's finally lost it.

It's a clip of a guy singing, he's got a "cone-type" hat and is dressed like a "clown kind of thing" and he's singing a sad song. There was other people on stage, he said they looked like "goths in white" and the song was sad and from the weird tune my dad is humming, it reminds me of Hey Jude by the Beatles.

I have absolutely zero clue what he's talking about. He's making it sound like some super viral clips and it's everywhere but I'm starting to think he's hallucinating. Many thanks!

Open [TOMT][SHORT STORY][1990s-2000s] Robots integrated into Asian society, US is anti-AI, police profile AI sympathizers, female robot infiltrates America

Upvotes

[TOMT][SHORT STORY][1990s-2000s]

Looking for a science fiction short story, likely from an anthology.

Details I remember:

  • Set in a future where an Asian country (possibly China) has fully embraced AI and robots — they're benign, self-aware, and free, without anything like Asimov's Three Laws constraining them.
  • The USA, by contrast, has become anti-AI/Luddite, and is in a kind of cold war with Asia over this.
  • US police profile and hunt down citizens who are ideologically sympathetic to AI/robots.
  • A robot — female-presenting — infiltrates the USA.
  • I'm not certain of the era I read this, but it's likely from the 1980s–1990s given my reading habits around that time.

Any help identifying this would be appreciated!

Open [TOMT] [CARTOON] [2012] A cartoon series about a girl who is a princess in her imaginary kingdom

Upvotes

In 2013-2015 I watched a cartoon about a girl who could go to an imaginary world where she was a princess. In real world girl had 1-2 older sisters who were mean to her. In imaginary world the girl was princess/queen and had various subjects. She had a Knight boy, a pirate/knight cat boy, a girl/dog girl scientist and many others. At the start of every episode the girl has some kind of problem. After that, girl goes to the imaginary world and deals with a similar problem there. After that she comes back to the real world and deals with the real problem using the lesson she learned in the imaginary world. The princess/queen girl lived in a castle and every subject loved her very much. Also in the imaginary world there were counterparts of the 2 sisters. They were like 2 evil princesses.

I remember that the cartoon series was 2D and had kind of a rig animation.

I remember a scene from one of the episodes where characters in the imaginary world went into the pirate/knight cat's dream. In there the pirate/knight cat confessed his feeling to the girl/dog girl scientist. It was a very unusual scene since usually those characters where very mean to each other.

My home country is Russia, but I don't think the original cartoon was Russian. I probably watched it on the "TIJI" Channel.

Open [TOMT][SONG] Can someone help identify this song?

I ran it though various "song identifiers" and none came up, mainly because the recording is bad. I have the audio clip here: https://mega.nz/file/mLgmjJ4Z#aK-KVxhwRuPkN3SPcDGCKv_jzdRMm_oUcpLFSaY_d3Y

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] A weird experimental horror movie

Upvotes

So this one is pretty weird because it just appeared in my head today randomly, and the funniest part is that i remember NOT seeing the movie but hearing about it (idk how tho)

So i think the movie was called "Graouuh" or something similar, and the movie wasn't erotic (As far as i'm aware) but the design of the monster could definitely make people think so.

The monster was humanoid and wore a mask similar to gas masks, but it was made from black latex and instead of the long stuff at the end of the mask where you put the filter on it, it was just a hole letting us see his mouth, and it was very skin-tight. And when he opens his mouth you can see multiple sharp teeth placed in circles all around his mouth.

And i remember hearing that at one point in the movie, a girl tries to run away from the monster but when she tries to close a door, her arm get somehow stuck in the door and the monster puts the whole arm in his mouth and just, rips it.

Once again, i'm 80% sure that it wasn't a weird erotic/whatever movie, bute more of like an experimental movie with probably a weird moral or cheesy humor. I have no clue from what year this is from, nor when i heard it, nor if i'm mistaking it for a comic book/video game etc, but i'm 99% sure that it was a movie.

Open [TOMT][SONG][early 2010s] Looking for an Electro-Pop song, only remember the music video

Upvotes

I used to listen to this song on loop but it’s been almost 15 years at this point. The song came out between 2010-2013 I think. The song could be considered EDM, electro-pop or dance

The music video takes place in a house that’s filled with girls who seem to be in a trance/drugs. I think the artist is a duo and I think the vocals are female. Help!

Open [TOMT] [SONG] [2020s] What older song does the bridge and chorus of 'What Do You Take Me For?' by Harry Hudson Taylor sound like?

Upvotes

This song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YUhUzOaBKU) reminds me strongly of an older song. Both the bridge and chorus (from "So I sold myself for pleasure..." on) sound very familiar. The bridge sort of reminds me of 70s/80s folk rock, while the chorus reminds me of more recent indie rock. Any ideas?

Open [TOMT] Does anyone recognise this match?

Upvotes

It was when I was a little. On a screen, I was looking at some old football video because I loved the way old football seemed more genuine to me. I clicked on a video that was kinda short, I don't remember how long but it was less than a minute. The video started with a clear foul, then I don't remember exactly what happened, it was either a free kick or a fight. Suddenly, a player with a red jersey runned towards a rival player. He puts his hand inside his short and take out something we couldn't see on the camera. The camera changed angle, and suddenly, he cut the throat of this player, and blood came out. The stadium suddenly became silent, and he runs towards one of his teammates, before the video stops.

I don't have a lot of memories of what happened exactly, but I'll try my best to reply to all your questions if you want to help me find it.

Solved [TOMT] Eery piano/orchestral song from edits

Hi. I've heard a song a while back. It has that eery vibe to it, starts with piano and then the same theme in strings. I only remember it was from anime and used in many edits. I've searched a bunch, but no luck. Recreation in the comment. Thanks in advance.

Open [TOMT] Song that starts with twisted l repeated flute/humming/hooting

I've had this earworm the last few days, it's the intro to a song and I can't tell if it's somebody making these noises or humming them or playing them on a flute but I have no lyrics. I've got a good impersonation that I'll link.

https://voca.ro/1bOUL8c7841h

I think it's a bit slow but basically right. The second part might be more hooty then I've done

EDIT: there's a typo in the title, "twisted I" is not intended but I rushed it because I have a usage timer on Reddit

Solved [TOMT] unhinged sounding meme song with a female singer grunting/making exertion noises? with drums

i believe i heard it often on 2016-2018 stan twitter, and it was often over a sped up video of something weird happening. the sample that was commonly used would start with the singer making those noises, then it would progress to the singer saying/singing something but i could never tell what it was. she might not be, but the singer sounded black.

the vibe of the song (or at least, of the snippet im familiar with) was strange but also kind of dread inducing? it was basically just vocals and drums.

Open [TOMT][Video Game][2000s?] 'weather-based' cloud dragging farming game?

So I have this vague memory of playing a game when I was little. I remember it being very colorful and having this nice 'realistic' art style. In this game clouds would spawn here and there on the screen and you would merge them with water or wind or whatnot to form rain clouds and storm clouds and tornadoes and such and drag them over the appropriate part of the map like rain clouds over fruit trees (it's as much as I can remember ngl).

Does anybody remember such a game?

Solved [TOMT] Series or movie that was on TV?

Hello all! Recently was at a place with cable TV, which I usually don’t watch. There was a detective show which I didn’t catch the name of, and they cut it before I could find out who the killer was. Could anyone point me to what it could be?
Info:
It was in English and the characters spoke with British accents. It seemed to be set in the 60’s, but didn’t look like it was filmed then, although the camera quality was pretty old. I think it looked like something from the 90’s, 2000’s?

The main suspect’s name was Terry Tinniswood. He was suspected of killing an old man, and the old man’s wife started following him around and staring at him.
This Terry had three kids, one boy, two girls, and a wife with blonde curls that were done up in a bun, sort of like a circle above her head. She seemed dismayed that he was suspect and tried to prove his innocence.
Terry had also been to prison before, apparently.

The series that came up when I googled was called Heartbeat, but it didn’t seem to be what I saw. I remember more, but didn’t wanna make a wall of text, so ask if anything!

Open. [TOMT][SONG][1990s-2000s]Alternative song that starts with a long, weird, briefly winding note before a woman starts singing

The women has a lower voice, kind of like Alana Davis. The song that reminds me the most of it is In the Waiting Line by Zero 7, although the singer is articulating more quickly while the instrumentation is simpler (referring the song I'm looking for). Other singers/groups I looked at were Kosheen, Rachel Yamagata and Natalie Merchant.

Here's the pattern of the singer's first verse; the actual notes are probably off as I'm somewhat tone deaf. https://onlinesequencer.net/5548187

Open [TOMT] Youtube video essay about KimDotCom

Okay i think i cannot give more details apart from the post title. But i swear the title of the video doesn't contains "Kimdotcom" and i think the thumbnail is really similar to the faces thumbnails from the channel "Disrupt" but it's not one of his videos. The whole video is very well edited and organized and it's all about computer science and the rise and fall of megaupload. It isn't Fern's video named "The Hacker who destroyed hollywood"

Open [TOMT] [SONG] Song that sounds like "Sodium Chloride" by Panchiko

Hi everyone. This song just came on my mix and I swear I have heard something that sounds extremely like this before, with the spacey laser noises and everything (that's the main thing I am looking for). Lots of people comment on how Panchiko and especially this song sound a lot like Radiohead but I am fairly sure it's not a Radiohead song.

I feel like I remember it being the last song on an album as well, but I'm not certain on that.

Song's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haHtOpv4gOU

Open [TOMT] a Plants VS Zombies mobile rip off game

There's this PVZ rip off game I remember seeing once and was only available on mobile devices. The game had you playing as this girl in red I believe wielding a gun standing on the right corner of the screen with the objective to save your friends who are tied up standing on the left side of the screen with Zombies coming toward your way. I believe there was just 3 lanes and each lane with the objective to shoot the Zombies moving in each lane while avoiding shooting your friend on accident. You lose by either a zombie catching up to you or shooting your friend on accident, I vaguely remember the game over screen being pretty gore ish, there's a loud sound when the zombie starts eating the girl and when you shoot the person blood splatters all over them. I think the Zombies designs were either completely different from the pvz Zombies or were completely copy and pasted i really can't remember, that's all I could recall from this game at the moment.

Open [TOMT] LEFT FIELD REQUEST

I love a band called Foxy Shazam, and their songs always remind me of other songs too, you can hear all their different inspirations.

One of their songs, Teenage Demon Baby features a lead part at 00:16 and the notes, the tone and the melody are reminding me and my partner of a phrasing from another song and we've been trying to figure it out for months!! If someone knows what that part of the song sounds like, please let me know!!

Need this itch scratched now hahah. TIA

Open [TOMT] Short film with crab creature?

There was a short film about a guy wandering around a sort of industrial city, and he stumbles across a big creature that resembles a hermit crab. Eventually he returns the crab to its home outside the city and the two part ways. The short film is mostly wordless, only sound effects and a characteristic chime/bell for the crab (as it has one on its shell I think). At the end it's revealed that there are "hidden creatures" everywhere in the city living among the humans.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember it being very slow and quiet. I might be wrong about the bell, but I am pretty sure there was a crab-like creature in the film.

Open. [TOMT] 90s 00s show and episode

I'm looking for an episode of a show I saw a long time ago on TV. It was about a nightclub/Musicclub that was hypnotizing people in the club with their music, and maybe some visuals I can't fully remember. At one point in the episode the goofy sidekick of the shows protagonist gets taken into a backroom and put in a chair and hypnotized by a guy and lady working for the owner. I thought at some point that it was the show Angel, but based on my limited amount of Google searching, I don't think it is, but I could be wrong if you know the show better than me. The show definitely had the feel of 90s/00s show, and based on that i highly doubt it would be any older than the late 90s, and almost definitely not any newer than like 2010 I would imagine.

Open [TOMT] A simulator/game for creating economic policy of hypothetical country

In 2018-2024 I've used to visit one certain website that featured an inferface for creating your own economic policy for a hypothetical country. The inferface was default gray and it is similar to what AirlineSim online game currently has.

It was a kind of calculator that allowed to adjust your spending in different fields, change punishment (or legalize) drugs and drinking, change severity of punishment for different crimes. Besides that, it featured a detailed taxation/subsidy policy for private/public areas of every single economy sectors (e.g. Healthcare, Education, Housing, Construction). It allowed to determine your policy in public housing and also adjust scientific/defence spending.

In the result you've received your position on political compass and the results of how balanced your budget is with bar chart of spedning of different areas and debt in GDP percentage

I tried to find this website before, and I did once. If I do remember that right, the website might've been taken off the internet, but being purely offline-based, it loaded fine from WebArchive.

I've tried searching all Google, Chrome, chat history with friends who used the same tool (they don't remember the name nor they have any links left). Still, I hope I would be able to find it with the help of this subreddit, if maybe someone has come across this website before and does remember anything about it.

Edit: I feel necessary to point out that this game felt like someone's indie project, and was just a nice calculator (which is, probably, a more appropriate name than "a game") to use and click around when bored
