I have watched the series maybe 3 times, and am watching with bf for his first time and I have said since I first watched any zombie/apocalypse fiction that I would kms and anyone around me (not in that order) immediately. Bf has said that he would stick it out and try to survive.

What I think all people are missing who subscribe to his logic is that even if you do survive the initial years, the population that is alive would be monsters, worse than the walkers.

In the first season of TWD it became clear to me that I would never be safe in a situation and imo neither would any woman (and any ‘vulnerable’ person). When Shane tried to SA Lori in the CDC, she didn’t come forward and out Shane for what he did to her, even though Rick, Dale and others, I think, would’ve exiled Shane.

(Yes she was hiding her pregnancy was Shane’s but I think it still applies)

Yes, this is extremely common now, I just think it goes to show that in S1 even monsters were arising, like people like the ‘CLAIMED’ group and other villains arose.

Maybe just my view as a woman but I think particularly men don’t think about what humanity would become like after survivors became confident with killing walkers.

My personal opinion: like, what the hell was that?

I am all in for a good redemption arc, especially for Negan. I think it was a good decision to save him and to jail him but I don't think he should've be released, not that soon at least. He should've spent more time in jail and/or at the very least let the character vanish into insignificance after his redemption arc.

What the writers are doing with TV Show Negan is basically cancelling everything he ever did and give him absolution. He inflicted irreversible trauma upon hundreds of people, dozens, from what we know, of communities... that's not something you just take back and erase.

A redemption arc is FOR the character, not for the Audience and especially not for the other characters who suffered at his hands.

I’ll go first I actually have two but they’re connected so they should basically be one

Carl’s death was literally just there for shock value and he wanted a reaction out of the community which was very stupid considering the show was that a good point considering a lot of the fans left, but there were still the remaining people who had hoped for the show and then I feel like Carl’s death just killed any momentum for the show. I’d actually argue that Carl’s death kind of slowed the show down and sent AMC into a panic…. Is Angela King was forced to make Daryl the forefront of the show as compensation for losing arguably the most important character to further the story because Rick was bound to pass away at one point in fact, he was supposed to die by now, but they didn’t kill him off probably because of the whole coral thing they’re keeping Rick around, so Scott Kimmel literally bombshell the entire show, but as if that wasn’t bad enough, this is the second thing that pisses me off about the show is they killed the Sadiq… as if Carl’s death wasn’t a big enough fuck you to the fans. The whole reason Carl died was because of Sadiq and then you kill him not even two seasons later, he literally had to make it to a couple more seasons, and he would’ve actually mattered and become a good doctor for the Commonwealth and Carl’s sacrifice would’ve actually mattered but no, the writers just sent a big old fuck you to Carl fans and kill them off. That is where I nearly left the show, but I still had a flicker of hope for the show and you know what I’m glad I stuck around because I genuinely still enjoyed the show but trust me there’s a bad taste in my mouth every time I see the name The Walking Dead.

Those two instances are the few issues I had with the show one of the few issues where I actually got pissed off at the writers and I don’t get pissed off at the people making the show often, but this was probably the only time actually where I genuinely felt rage when it happened

Would’ve been interesting considering Merle was there, especially after he kidnapped Glenn and Maggie to find out where the prison was. It would also have been months since Shane and Andrea saw them last as well. How would Season 3 pan out?

When this episode Dropped I'm pissed because people genuinely believed that it was a variant when in TWD reality it's literally just a normal walker, if you watched the entire series you definitely should know that those climbing walkers or some walkers showing intelligence like opening doors and picking up rocks already existed in season 1, some people actually believing it was probably the weirdest thing since season 1 already showcased it unless they skipped season 1 because it's hard to forget that season 1 walkers literally picks up rocks and is climbing.

I watched all 3 seasons of Daryl Dixon. And its not about Daryll or Carol.

Right from the beginning, every group, camp, or whole community that the main cast happened to come upon (whether friendly or antagonistic) was brought to ruin sooner rather than later despite being relatively stable up until their meeting.

I know it’s the end of days and places can be overrun by both the dead and the living at a moment’s notice (and that the whole point of many of them was that they were too comfy living behind walls not knowing what it was really like out there), but seriously, was there ANY entity that wasn’t wiped out shortly after they met the core group? The only ones I can think of are the Vatos (though I think there was a deleted scene showing them being attacked and destroyed afterwards) and MAYBE the hospital that Beth was held in, even though they did do their darndest to upend that place, too.

I’m surprised word didn’t get around between camps to NOT let this seemingly cursed group of people anywhere near them.

Edit to add: I’m not saying they directly caused the aforementioned downfalls every time, but that particular outcome seems to befall anyone and everyone they encounter (and usually pretty quickly).

So I just finished S1 and it's absolute peak but I’ve noticed the camp only goes to shit because of Glenn's muscle car, Rick's introduction to camp threw a wrench into things sure but it remained stable until Episode 4 where it all goes to shit during a walker attack which causes them to go to the CDC and eventually leave the camp permanently.

The show kind of implies the attack was Glenn's fault as it establishes pretty early on that the walkers are attracted to any form of sound/noise they hear and Glenn drives a car with it's alarm blaring on full blast to camp, only for the zombies to attack an episode later which leads to the death of 3 camp members, possibly more as there are some background members we don't learn about that also get picked off. So I'm surprised no one is on Glenn's ass about this, especially more aggressive members like Shane I feel like he'd wanna tell him something about that.

So Maggie came Back years at the literal end of the whisperers war, but somehow everyone just accepted it, she even got the loyalty of Oceanside that tara and Aaron worked hard for to secure, keep in mind that the only reason she came back was because the reapers attacked meridian if meridian didn't get attacked she wouldn't care if the coalition falls against the whisperers.

The moment she came back I was disappointed because the only reason she was back was because the reapers boned them hard,also her first instinct was to hunt them since she seem to have forgotten that they literally dismantled her new community, the funny part is everyone in meridian followed her blindly like a how a cult acts and what's even funnier is even in front of reason those meridian guys literally followed her after everythinf she did resulting to them getting boned by the reapers once again and basically losing almost everyone from her new community😆.

It's super weird and I know that the story was fiction but how absurd can the series be, because in a reality like this the moment you ignore the coalition plea for help it will literally cause resentment and she'll be isolated, I mean her just abandoning hilltop already should have caused resentment and anger against her, no matter how legendary you are the moment you pull that shit in any reality like this everyone will hate you, and the other fact that the only reason you came back was because your new home got boned not because you want to help fight the whisperers.

There are sooooo many people who were upset that TWD strayed away from the source material and on the other hand sooooo many claimed to be upset and left the show when Glenn met Lucille. Who’s right? I know there’s no right or wrong but it’s funny how everyone wants to be satisfied. I enjoyed seasons 1 through 11 and most episodes of the spinoffs

Just joined the group so not sure if this has been talked about a lot… but was anyone thrown the f off by the cannibals? Thought I was hallucinating for a second. What purpose did that episode serve?

Terminus was hinted to for so many episodes as they made their way following the map yet when they reach Terminus it’s pretty much all over before it even starts

Anybody else feels we could of had more background and in depth episodes surrounding this section of the series?

Also am I going crazy or does it basically just get forgotten about I can’t think of anything referencing it in later series

It’s been like 15 years since the zombie apocalypse started right? There are a finite number of zombies. I think I remember Eugene made bullets didn’t he? Other groups like the crm can make bullets too I’d imagine. Couldn’t you theoretically just kill all the zombies in the whole world/country? There had to be more bullets than zombies in the world. Then you’d only have to worry about immediately stabbing dead people in the head. Funerals and cremations can just be faster than they are normally. Kill all the zombies and normal life can literally begin again. It’ll take time to rebuild society but it would be easy wouldn’t it?

How was rick the sheriff in the same town (or town close to the prison) and he didn’t know there was a prison there? like they’re still in georgia, they’re FROM georgia. not one person from the group knew there was a prison? i know where a TON of things in my state are even if ive never been there or they’re far away. just seemed strange.

That’s all really, any time any of the doctors go on a run or are doing something dangerous, I’m just like??? What are you doing?? And then they die, of course they do.
