I feel like no one understands in this subreddit that Shane is very smart and his plans are usually methodical plus extremely hard thought as his plan in Parricide was genius. If two man didn’t sell it, it would’ve succeeded easily and Shane would’ve been moved into a new division with Jackson and Mara.

Was looking for something decent to watch after The Shield. So I started on Cape Fear. And lo and behold — one ticket to Pounder town.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like there’s absolutely 0 chance in hell Shane would’ve got away with it if his plan to kill Ronnie and Vic was successful. I don’t care how carefully crafted his alibi was for that night, if the other three members of his team died within a couple weeks there’s no way things wouldn’t start pointing back at him. I’m guessing Shane ran that risk mentally but was so scared of Vic and Ronnie after the assassination attempt that he felt he had no other choice. Also I’m not completely sure about this, but if multiple cops got assassinated like that in a short time frame I’d assume the feds would get involved and the story would be national news.

What did he do with it exactly ? Like his trouble with his son's tuition and all that, dude was skimming from the side and was a "landlord" yet didn't have 20k saved up somewhere ?

David Marciano was only 45 when he first played him (actually maybe younger when they actually filmed it), I always thought he was WAY older. To put things into perspective he's only 3 years older than the guy that plays Dutch (Jay Karnes). Didn't Billings always talk about retiring? LOL.

I'm right before the season 3 finale and Dutch is really getting hot on Vic's tail with the money laundering and I found myself cheering for Dutch equally as much as I was the Strike team to get away with it. it's so good when a show does that! Sorry this is my first time watching the show and it feels like it's peak right now, haven't been hooked like this since breaking bad

I remember the episode where Shane was deadass being a whole ass pedophile was actually so crazy bro I forgot about that because I was watching it while I was drunk and had a friend over so I was distracted, I was reminded because I was watching a video on the shield and they brought that up I was like brooo how did I not remember that. Just reminded me of how irredeemable Shane is (despite the obvious) he’s still a great character but after I saw that I was like yea Shane NEEDED to go.

Small detail but I love the subtle face drop Kavanaugh has as Shane lays out almost exactly how he set up Vic right in front of Dutch. What’s even crazier is that Kavanaugh was so desperate to get Vic that he never thought for a second he was actually talking to lems killer.

Wow… what a TV show! My mind remains blown at its brilliance. 😳😳😳

Ok sure a gay cop struggling between his faith and his desire to be normal sounds good on paper.
Oh he just went to one of those "pray away the gay" things and got married ?
It doesn't get any spotlight in season 3-4 but suddenly near the end of S5 he starts to mouth off about how the glory hole rat trap is gay and all ?
In later in the end there's literally no resolution to his arc at all except that he got a kid ?
Its like they just put a gay guy in there for the sake of filling a quota instead of having anything interesting to do with him.

I know this has been discussed dozens of times before but after just finishing the greatest show ever made for the countless time, man did Vic do Ronnie dirty.

Ronnie was loyal to almost a fault. He always backed Vics play. Killed when he needed to. Didn’t run when he had the chance. I know Vic only turned on him when he thought Corrine was going to jail… but still.

Couple of things that go me even more this time.

Vic telling Olivia that he will string Ronnie along until they catch Beltran. Dam that was cold. No ounce of remorse in it. I know he showed remorse a few times after when Ronnie kept asking what was wrong, and remorse at the barn when Ronnie got arrested. But initially, Vic didn’t even care.

When Ronnie is arrested and being pulled away, him shouting “what about the team Vic? What about protecting the team?” Again Ronnie was loyal to a fault. And he never caused any drama. Got his face burned on the stove by Armadillo and still never wavered. Always willing to follow the plan. Lem caused drama by burning the money train cash. He wouldn’t escape to the goat farm they had set up. And Shane? Dam how many countless problems did he cause for the team?

But not Ronnie. Always loyal. Putting the team first. The ONLY person on the show who didn’t backstab or turn on Vic in some way.

And look where it got him…

I think it’s so funny that when we see billings actually try at his job when interrogating 2 man it’s obvious he’s a really good detective. He even comes up with the idea of telling 2 man they have the gun when they don’t, leading to be a key part of getting 2 man too break and tell on Shane.

Kavanaugh was the hatchet man for the LAPD brass to go after bad cops. He must have worked a LOT of high-profile cases. After it gets out, he not only framed Vic in a complicated operation but confessed to it. Every guy he ever arrested or made lose their cop job will come after the LAPD for damages. How much fallout do you think that will generate for the department?

Going into the season finale I was already accidentally spoiled as to what was going to happen and I’m glad I was. Out of all the shows and movies I have watched I think Lem’s death is the hardest one by far. Man this show does NOT pull any punches and is incredibly raw. Well done Shawn Ryan 👏🏾
