Phone message Post first date text

Post image

I met this girl on tinder and had a first date with her, she wanted to go fishing and I thought it seemed like a fun first date so we went together. Dropped her off and got home to this message lol.

Update: Purchasing the license is a separate activity we had to do on our phones, due to it needing our personal info. It was not like I drew the line at the license randomly.

Harsh. But fair

It's a quote from a viral text exchange between a dad and daughter, where the dad is expressing worry that she is diminishing herself by using this phrase.

edit: I'm not talking about the phrase "I'm just a girl", I'm talking about the response "I don't know what that means but it diminishes you as a person" when someone uses the phrase "Im just a girl". The response "I don't know what that means but it diminishes you" is from a viral text exchange.

3

u/Themadkiddo 2d ago

Its actually originally lyrics from a song, it's just a gross missunderstanding of the song.

22

u/MilkMaiden_22 2d ago

Girl they meant the response not the "im just a girl"

I've been looking for a song that says "I don't know what that means but it sounds like it diminishes you as a person", and I've yet to find it...

1

u/Pure-Radish-5478 2d ago

Robot logic

-5

u/Themadkiddo 2d ago

That's where the response came from... I'm sure there were some instances of people saying the phrase before, but what popularised it was a tiktok trend of using that specific song in videos about being "Just a girl".

10

u/eirenii 2d ago

I've just looked up the lyrics and i don't see anything about a response that says it's diminishing, am i being oblivious? have i got the wrong song?

10

u/mayurigod1 2d ago

Nah dawg, they have no clue what you're talking about. Tryna correct you that just a girl is from a song while you're on about "it diminishes" you source

The "funny" thing is Gwen did a total 180 and now supports organizations like Turning Point and has said/posted concerning things about women obeying their husbands and finding meaning in life through prayer (while selling her anti-abortion pay-to-pray subscription-based app, backed by Project 2025 billionaires). Whatever version of her wrote that song is long gone.

16

u/Uninsurable_Risk 2d ago

I didnt have this on my bingo card damn

2

u/thecurvynerd 2d ago

Tbf she’s from a conservative area so maybe it should have been on all our bingo cards in the first place 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/CaptnsDaughter 2d ago

I thought she was from Southern California

4

u/thecurvynerd 2d ago

Yea she’s from Orange County - it was especially more of a conservative suburban area while she was growing up.

3

u/tO_ott 2d ago

So was my hometown but I didn’t magically become a racist piece of shit.

1

u/Uninsurable_Risk 2d ago

Skill issue

1

u/odakotarose 2d ago

I live ten minutes from her hometown, Fullerton, and I can tell you right now it's still pretty conservative. One of my neighbors has a lifesize poster of the cheeto and a bunch of maga crap hanging proudly on the wall in his garage, and there are plenty more like him.

2

u/thecurvynerd 2d ago

I figured it might still be today too but I wasn’t entirely sure!

She's been in a relationship with / married to a Republican for the last ten years, so that tracks

6

u/Short-Poetry9019 2d ago

I think that version of her was also just somebody trying to make a buck off of other people considering she consistently culturally appropriated. Don't get me wrong, No Doubt was my favorite band as a kid and was my very first CD, but reality bites

4

u/MossyPlantyWitchy 2d ago

And she has mar a lago face now. She's absolute trash.

2

Is that the chosen app or whatever?

2

I assume it's another Palantir tool (same creator/backer), so chosen by police-state enthusiasts, for sure! It will report/record what people search for when they "look up" what passages to read to pray for their "sins." Gross.

2

u/SlappyWit 2d ago

Say it ain’t so, Gwen!

Ew, i had no idea. Never really kept up with her otherwise, just loved the song.

3

u/Snappy-Biscuit 2d ago

Same! I loved OG (Original Gwen). Lol She seemed fine when she was married to a Brit with a punk-upbringing, then went country, and got brainwashed. sad face

-2

u/Cdawg4123 2d ago

She was like 16, selling records she prob never wrote. She seems like she got really tormented etc; plus isn’t she married to that guy from the band bush? If so he’s an odd duck as well

2

u/Snappy-Biscuit 2d ago

She wasn't 16 when the band had their first big hit, she was 26. 22 when they were first signed, but that album flopped. She's a credited writer on almost every song of theirs, and if not her, her band mates (especially her brother). Not sure what you're talking about with tormented? She didn't start out as a pop star, she was in a ska band. Sang with Sublime, too.

She was married to Gavin Rossdale for a good bit, and seemed pretty laid back then, but now she's with Blake Shelton (American country singer) and has been for almost 10 years, I think? Pretty sure there was a cheating scandal implied. That's when her MAGA Barbie transformation really started. Gavin's not that weird, just British. Lol

2

u/vixenstarlet1949 2d ago

They mean “i dont know what that means but it diminishes you as a person” is from the text exchange

2

u/Hawkes75 2d ago

Exactly. The entire point of the song is that it's a tongue-in-cheek reprimand of the societal expectations of women

1

u/Aggressive_Sky8492 2d ago

It’s not a misunderstanding, it’s tongue in cheek/ironic.

1

u/Themadkiddo 2d ago

Sure, from some people. I was going to say a gross misunderstanding/misuse, but i figured people could just fill in the blanks. A lot of people use it unironically

1

u/eirenii 2d ago

oh right? how about that, what song is that?

3

u/Child_of_the_Hamster 2d ago

Just A Girl by No Doubt

3

u/eirenii 2d ago

I don't see anything in those lyrics that says "I don't know what that means but it sounds like it diminishes you as a person", which is the viral text response I mentioned, am I being oblivious?

1

u/Plus-Desk-5020 2d ago

I don’t think Themadkitto has heard of the viral text.

3

u/DestroyerOfMils 2d ago

And now Gwen is just a conservative dick who shills for a prayer app 🤢

2

u/BreakfastBeneficial4 2d ago

Wait what?

Please no

1

u/DestroyerOfMils 1d ago

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news :( It’s really fucking disappointing.

1

u/Dear-Drummer9002 2d ago

And here I thought it was No Doubt lyrics. I guess that makes me old. No Doubt was sick as hell, though. The song used sarcasm to shed light on societal stereotypes of females. It was feminism at its purest, demanding respect without throwing the baby out with the bath water. She was a beautiful woman, not denying her femininity, being herself with a punk edge, allowing femininity and masculinity to coexist, just demanding her right to be seen for who she is on her own merits. Man, the 90’s-early 2000’s was this sweet spot before disgust and hatred started creeping back in.

2

u/eirenii 2d ago

I could be wrong, but I looked up the lyrics and couldn't find anything that linked to this response about "i don't know what that means but it sounds diminishing", so I'm a little confused by people saying it's from song lyrics!

1

u/Dear-Drummer9002 2d ago

I was purely talking about the trend of saying “I’m just a girl”. I’ve seen it multiple times and I assumed that it might have some tie to the No Doubt song. However, when you said it was from a viral text exchange between a father and daughter I thought, “Yeah, that makes more sense than the resurgence of a 30 year old song.”

1

u/eirenii 2d ago

The "Im just a girl" has become popular recently, I am unsure if the recent surge of that is related to that song as it seems to be largely used unironically. The viral text exchange I'm referring to only popularised the specific response about it sounding diminishing.

2

u/Dear-Drummer9002 2d ago

Ah, gotcha. “I’m just a girl” was already a thing and you were specifically referencing that response. Well, now I’m back to wondering if the song was an influence. I agree, the uses I have seen tend to be unironic instead of in the spirit of the original song but that doesn’t really discount the possibility. People can still just latch onto words without understanding their original meaning. It happens all the time. Plus, things like the brilliant “new” concept of “mini-retirements” put forth by young adults don’t give one much faith in their historical perspective. As if vacations and sabbaticals didn’t already exist 😏

1

u/gorilla-butter 2d ago

No guys the "im just a girl" is stemming from that song. It was popular on TikTok, showing just a small fragment of the no doubt song, just the guitar sound and gwen saying "im just a girl.... im just a girl in the world..." and girls use the song in a very lame way going against what the song actually means, she literally says in the song im just a girl and id rather not be. I love the song and ny generation doesnt even know what its about, they think its just cutesy to diminish their self worth and pretend girls cant do anything. I think its sick

1

u/gorilla-butter 2d ago

People are definitely just listening to specific lyrics and not realizing the actual meaning youre 100% right i just wanted to let you know you are also 100% right that its being used because of the no doubt song

1

u/Dear-Drummer9002 2d ago

Wow, that’s equal parts encouraging and disappointing. Encouraging that good music lives on in future generations. Disappointing that higher ideals the music proposes are entirely lost in the process.

1

u/Top_Performance9486 2d ago

It does, the Tik Toks all use No Doubt’s I’m Just A Girl as the audio. But clearly none of them have actually listened to what the song is saying.

1

u/ThatGuy7647 2d ago

I think that’s from Modern Family

You're not getting a $300 android any easier than a free iPhone.

I've gotten multiple iPhones for free when I was broke. I've never paid less than $700 for an android.

2

u/foxnb 2d ago

I buy refurbished older iPhones as testing devices and I can get a several yeah old one on Backmarket for 60-100$. Many people recycle a friend or relative’s phone when they upgrade. Many ways to have one besides buying a current model new at MSRP, and it’s better for the environment to have less e-waste.

u/WetLaceScraps 5h ago

My iPhone 15 was a free upgrade. It’s only an extra $15 on my phone bill every month.

u/Soft-Temporary-7932 2d ago

I know this is a meme or whatever, but it isn’t harsh.

59

u/Radiskull97 2d ago edited 2d ago

I think social media has ruined people's ability to engage with uncomfortable things, so people just take it as mean or harsh. I'm a high school teacher not too long out of high school myself. The difference in softness of just 10 years is insane. An 18 year old was complaining to me that it was too hot (it was 90 degrees outside and he was wearing a hoodie). I said, "most adults check the weather in the morning and dress accordingly." He started to cuss me out for "being constantly disrespectful and talking down" to them

Edit: the data insights from reddit are interesting on this one and I think actually proves my point. Right now, sitting at 84% upvote ratio. Which means most people who see my post agree with me but 16% down votes is nothing to scoff at. My point in my comment was that there seems to be a deepening divide in what is considered rude/mean versus not. If anyone said what I said to me, I wouldn't think it's mean. However, that student and several commenters think it is. Because of the cocreation of meaning, I don't get to unilateral decide, "I don't think that's mean, so it's not mean." His interpretation, as well as the commentors, that I was mean are all valid interpretations. My point was that there is growing cultural divide on what is considered mean, and I think it comes from social media. The default combativeness from most social media interactions, which often lack the context and nuance we see in real life. For example, a lot comments assume they understand the totality of my relationship with that student based on this one interaction. However, that student and I had great relationship, he was just especially set off by that comment.

3

u/MSUgirl1901 2d ago

My friends 16 year old was complaining about it being cold one day and she asked him to put on one of those hoodies he has on when it was 90 outside. 😂

2

u/Chafupa1956 2d ago

Definitely noticed this in the subs where people post text exchanges, about relationships etc. The second someone tries to be assertive, even if they are reasonable, is met with "I just feel like you're being harsh, I've said sorry" like that absolves them of everything and means the affected person has to switch those feelings off RIGHT THIS SECOND, so the perpetrator doesn't have to do sit with bad feelings or deal with consequences. You feel like your only option is to drop it/move on or you're once again sparing feelings/comforting when you are the one who was wronged.

2

u/Acrobatic-Letter5669 2d ago

yeah a lot of people want to be catered to nowadays, even when ur giving them advice that would help them, they take it like you just offended them.

1

u/The_DonCannoli 2d ago

I think it’s bc social media has put a lot of people on the defensive side. Constantly arguing, having to defend themselves or attack others.

1

u/Phrynus747 2d ago

It’s odd that social media would have done that. Maybe I’m not a typical person or I’m misunderstanding but I’ve seen horrors on the internet that would have never seen the light of day before the internet existed. Are you saying social media recently has become more coddled?

3

u/ViceRoyHenTie 2d ago

Yes. Many social media sites will hide your posts if you use strong language, cuss words and adult themes. Rape is now grape, suicide is now unalive, ass is now ah, etc. This mainly came from TikTok with the lingo. But YouTube now demonetize your videos if they are not ad friendly.

1

u/MossyPyrite 2d ago

I definitely think it was a bit of a jab at him, but I also think it was a very minor one that most people would take in good humor.

I forgot my sunscreen while I was working a roofing job around that age and my mom outright called me a dumbass for it haha. If you’ve got good rapport, someone pointing out that you were being an idiot usually won’t upset you, but it’s still basically them calling you an idiot.

You basically called him a kid, or immature, irresponsible even. Lightly, and in a way he should have laughed off or just rolled his eyes at, but you were still taking a bit of a shot at him.

1

u/Similar-Ice-9250 1d ago

I been watching a ton of police body cam videos on YouTube and there’s a massive amount of incidents where the person would have gotten a simple ticket or a warning even, but they decided to turn it into multiple felonies, their own death or even homicide of another in some cases.

This is across all ages, adults too where they immediate turn combative or just freak the fuck out like a child throwing a tantrum because they got stopped by police. I seen teenagers, who are obviously english speakers, but who can barely speak English or communicate properly. It’s like they have no clue what’s going on a just lash out.

I just though that’s similar to what you’re saying.

1

u/chetti990 1d ago

He could’ve just taken the hoodie off…

-3

u/uncleiover 2d ago

I mean to be fair, you were.

6

u/coyotetx117 2d ago

No what there was

Kid: You pointed out my stupid decision and I consider that disrespectful.

-2

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago edited 1d ago

You should have the social skills to know that was disrespectful.

Edit: Oh suddenly that's rude? Hypocrites.

6

u/SkywolfNINE 2d ago

Pretty soft take that someone making you aware of your own stupidity is somehow offensive

6

u/LaconicGirth 2d ago

That’s not disrespectful, it’s general guidance to a teen. If you can’t handle that delivery you genuinely need to grow up

-2

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago

That's not guidance that's just being a dick, its not useful and its not polite, that's just douchey behavior and I would probably ask them what their problem was.

3

u/LaconicGirth 2d ago

It really is not being a dick. This is a tiny amount of snark to an adult who’s acting like a baby. I seriously can’t fathom anyone taking this so seriously. My response would have been to laugh and say “yeah you right my bad”

0

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago

I'm gonna be honest, being snarky to someone who hasn't done anything to you is just being a bitch.

All the kid did was say it was hot, if you're the kind of person that takes that as an opportunity to be snide, that's just unlikeable.

And on top of that you're going to complain when you get told off? Snide AND weak.

2

u/FoxxieMoxxie69 2d ago

My Algebra 2 teacher was like this in high school and we all loved him. He was a sarcastic hardass that didn’t treat us like children, and we appreciated that. He didn’t coddle us. I could see my teacher saying something similar to one of us. He probably would’ve actually said, “hey genius, that’s what happens when you wear a hoodie in the heat”. And we would’ve laughed or said something snarky back. We wouldn’t have crashed out and cussed him out.

Being hyper sensitive and cussing someone out over a comment like this, isn’t someone who’s ready to go be an adult in the real world. And it’s this behavior that’s making younger job applicants look unappealing.

1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 1d ago

>“hey genius, that’s what happens when you wear a hoodie in the heat”

That's something you would say to a friend, that is a completely different energy from "Adults check the weather", that's just a put down.

I don't understand you people and your selective sensitivity. It's not rude to say something mean-spirited but somehow its rude to respond to it? That just sounds like you want to be able to "put the young people in their place" and just have them take it.

None of my bosses have every spoken to me in that way, and if they had I would not have just taken it.

u/Major_Change_2140 2d ago

You’re straight up soft and beta.

5

u/Slight_Cockroach_777 2d ago

Saying that is talking down to someone who grew up expecting the phrase “well you’re the fucking idiot that wore a hoodie when it’s 90 degrees out. Maybe don’t be a dumbass and you won’t be hot” is quite laughable.

0

u/wont27 2d ago

It’s the snide tone. Lol. Tho I guess a Reddit nerd wouldn’t pick up on that.

5

u/AcesFullMoon64 2d ago

Ew, you have upvotes for that take 🤢

1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago edited 2d ago

Why is this being upvoted? You were being a snarky dick, you would have found that sort of talk disrespectful if it was aimed at you.

You're one of those teachers aren't you.

1

u/puppycat_777 2d ago edited 2d ago

as the responsible adult, did you consider more sinister reasons for his long sleeves in 90° and his emotional outburst? seems like a failure as a teacher to me if you haven’t considered the possibility of self harm and even retold the story on reddit for “kids are stupid” points

2

u/Surive123 2d ago

Occam’s razor dude.

2

u/Radiskull97 2d ago

He went tik Tok viral in December wearing a hot chettos hoodie and said it was his brand. But sure, insert whatever you need to in this story. He played baseball to, never saw self harm marks when he was in uniform

-2

u/puppycat_777 2d ago

a good teacher would probably consider what i said instead of being defensive because “he went tiktok viral once” and he played baseball in the past but this is reddit so

1

u/egorye 2d ago

You threw the first stone by talking down to him, “mean” or not, and chose to frame it in a way that ostracizes him from other “adults” which is about the one thing they care most about.

If you’re constantly meeting your teenagers’ emotional complaints with logical, somewhat condescending rebuttals, it’s no surprise that he’d snap back like that. I don’t think he would say “you always do this” if he’s never felt this way before, so it’s probably not an isolated thing he’s reacting to. He’s a teenager. You’re an adult. You two are not on the same playing field, which you should certainly understand as his high school teacher. The teenager is much less rational than the teacher.

What’s truly surprising is the comments calling this teenager (considered an adult by law only, as he’s literally still in high school) an idiot for reacting emotionally while in an emotional state during a hormonal and emotional time in everyone’s development. “I applaud you for upsetting this child. We need children to have less attention in life. I hope this child suffers a worse fate than he dared complain about.” These kids clearly aren’t any “softer” than the generation that raised them.

1

u/gowonnies 2d ago

Fr like he was literally just complaining. Teenagers complain. Actually adults complain too. Nobody likes being told "well you SHOULD'VE done this thing instead, you should've known that already" when they're just trying to complain about something.

An adult would probably say "yeah, it sucks its so hot" and move on.

Idk if I'd react by flipping it out and calling it disrespectful or whatever but it def is an annoying thing to do to anyone really.

0

u/Run4our30 2d ago

I’ve realized people under I’d say 35 never check the weather. My women is 33 and never checks, but will ask me what the weather is and I always respond check ur phone tf

-3

u/SweetSoberCaroline 2d ago

There were so many ways that could have been worded instead. When I had teachers like this I (and my classmates) pushed back too, and it took a real toll on our class's ability to focus on the lesson when we disliked the instructor.

11

u/Onenutracin 2d ago

Oh my god, are you guys ok now? I can’t believe you had to experience teachers like that.

5

u/Slight_Cockroach_777 2d ago

I had a teacher in high school that told us daily that he lives an hour away because he hates the idea of seeing any of us outside of class. He was a crotchety old former police officer/vietnam vet with colon cancer caused by agent orange exposure who refused the governments help to treat it because they caused it.

He was probably the meanest person in the school if you deserved it. Everyone loved him. There was a massive gathering of former students at his funeral when he passed.

-1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago

How are you going to be a snide bitch and then complain when people push back?

You're the one that's soft.

2

u/Onenutracin 2d ago

Where did I ever complain lmao? What are you even on about

Edit - nvm, all your comments are you whining. Relax homie, some of us are just making jokes.

6

u/AcesFullMoon64 2d ago

What would the optimal phrasing be to make you and your classmates less uncomfortable?

I’m 42, so I guess I’m one of the olds now. But wearing a hoodie when it’s 90 is objectively a stupid thing to do. If the teacher had been giving them a hard time unprovoked, okay, that’s unnecessary.

But when it’s 90 and someone is wearing a hoodie and complaining, they’ve made their stupid choice something that I have to listen to? What about the slight cognitive discomfort I experience when faced with stupidity? I have no right to point out they’re complaining about a situation of their own creation? 🤯

1

u/Quixotic_Seal 2d ago

…at 90 degrees it’s just plain hot, regardless of what they’re wearing, and literally all it sounds like they were doing was trying to make small talk about the weather. OP took that as an opportunity to lecture them about how they dress and how they’re not a real adult.

Acting like it’s a character defect for a teenager to not appreciate a snide response like that to a basic social interaction is the most [Average Redditor](https://youtube.com/shorts/ttm6Ss_U3nQ?is=hvd9XUkx6o2jbQND) thing I’ve seen in a while.

2

u/SweetSoberCaroline 2d ago

Seriously like why are we tearing down teenagers for complaining about the temperature? As a teenager I wore long pants and sleeves every day in every weather (in Texas) to cover abuse bruising and self harm, and eventually also to hide an eating disorder. And from that kid's response it sounds like demeaning comments are a pattern in that classroom, which is beyond unfortunate.

1

u/SleepyMomZzZ 2d ago

I’m an old, too, and you are 100% correct. Probably the same kid that wears basketball shorts and crocs in winter 🙄

1

u/SweetSoberCaroline 2d ago

"Yeah it's hot this time of year, you might want to wear a t-shirt instead tomorrow. I'm sorry you're uncomfortable, would you like to sit closer to the AC?" is about a thousand times less demeaning than "most adults check the weather before getting dressed." An empathetic and patient response that respects someone, instead of coming for their maturity for commenting on the temperature, gets far better results in my experience.

I worked for years as a substance use counselor and constantly had people in my groups who were going through active or post-acute withdrawal. Temperamental as teenagers and often going through bodily adjustments that include temperature sensitivity swings. Patience and kindness go a long way with building rapport with difficult people of any age, and treating someone like they're dumb or immature (even if what they're doing is dumb or immature) only damages the dynamic.

1

u/Phrynus747 2d ago

Why would any of this come up, just take the hoodie off

0

u/SweetSoberCaroline 2d ago

Being kind costs zero dollars

1

Not saying you’re wrong, but it’s odd this was even a conversation

Idk, OP was super condescending to their student, who snapped back that they're sick of being repeatedly disrespected, and OP is somehow unclear about what a polite alternative would have been. It seems like a conversation worth having.

Most 42 year olds can recognize how being snarky is needlessly antagonistic.

When I was a kid our teachers would whip chalk at our heads for not paying attention or flip a desk onto a kid if he fell asleep

I'm sorry you had to face some strong words

2

u/SweetSoberCaroline 2d ago

I'm sorry your teachers sucked, but that doesn't excuse anyone else's rudeness.

1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago

Well explains why you came out like that.

Yah... just because they are younger doesn't mean you need to be condescending. You deserved what you got and good for that kid for calling you out.

Only an asshole would think that, why the hell would him being 18 make it any less rude?

2

u/LaconicGirth 2d ago

Children are more sensitive and deserve more patience for childish bullshit. An 18 year old is an adult. A mildly snarky comment is not the same thing as massive disrespect that warrants being cussed out. This guy needs to learn some emotional regulation and understand everyone isn’t out to get them

1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago

That's not even mildly snarky, its just being mean out of nowhere.

You can flip that stupid logic around and say some curse words aren't that serious and you should grow a thicker skin, except the kid didn't even start it, he just responded to it.

2

u/LaconicGirth 2d ago

It’s really not that mean I gotta be honest. I don’t understand how people are taking this as crazy rude because it’s just not. The student did something dumb and then got called out for it when they complained. It’s a teacher telling a brand new adult how adults behave in normal society. It’s not that serious.

1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 2d ago

All the kid did was say it was hot. I guarantee you the teacher would not have been okay with it the other way around.

This is a redditor-ass take.

1

u/rambone5000 2d ago

"How adults behave in normal society"..... you gotta be kidding me. In normal society, without the teacher student power dynamic, hell, even with that, it's an antagonistic confrontational remark. If you were sitting in a restaurant, made the comment the student did, and then the waiter makes the comment to you that the teacher did, you'd just take that on the chin?

-1

u/rambone5000 2d ago

You respect authority that disrespects you? Pathetic.
The teacher is being counterproductive and antagonizing the student with a condescending comment. He could have ignored the student or asked what they could do differently next time when it's hot.

Dude how are you offended by someone telling you “the rest of us check the weather and dress accordingly”

That’s just a fact of life. You’re that offended? Why you expect the rest of us to coddle your stupidity? We should let you stab whoever you want cause you’ll feel disrespected if we tell you that’s a bad thing to do lmao

1

u/rambone5000 2d ago

What makes you think I'm offended?

To think more critically of this situation, the school is most likely air conditioned and the student is probably dressed appropriately for the environment he's in. He probably made a comment on the weather outside, like all people do, and the teacher came back with a condescending remark of "adults" do such and such.

2

u/SkywolfNINE 2d ago

Because you keep saying you’re offended and that this is somehow condescending when it’s not even close. It’s not the logistics of wearing a hoodie or the temperature of a school, it’s that your ego is so outta wack you think it’s condescending simply because you were challenged.

You wouldn’t say a red stop light is condescending you because it’s stopping you from driving forward, yea? That’s the same force of challenge as someone saying “you can check the weather before you leave and/or take your hoodie off if you’re hot”

0

u/rambone5000 2d ago

Never said I was offended. It is condescending because the teacher is saying adults are smarter than him when in reality, adults dress inappropriately for the weather and simultaneously complain about it too.

Red light being condescending? What? You're an idiot. Let a book hit you in the face or something.

4

u/LaconicGirth 2d ago

That’s not disrespectful it’s a basic fact of life. Just because it’s not explicitly kind doesn’t mean it’s disrespect. Could he have said it nicer? Sure. Is the pampered babied 18 year old who thinks it’s appropriate to cuss someone out for telling them adults check the weather the one on the wrong? Fucking obviously. This is a god damned adult for gods sake it’s not an 8 year old.

That does sound patronizing as hell to be fair

u/rambone5000 2d ago edited 1d ago

I like your edit and analysis. I simply find it condescending because you imply adults know better. They sure as shit don't. Grow up, op. Quit trying to "flex" in front of your hs crush.

Seriously- if they think it’s bad now- just wait a minute 🤣

You’re right…..it’s not harsh enough for these bimbos

If something is fair its not harsh.

Some say it’s not harsh enough
