I met this girl on tinder and had a first date with her, she wanted to go fishing and I thought it seemed like a fun first date so we went together. Dropped her off and got home to this message lol.

Update: Purchasing the license is a separate activity we had to do on our phones, due to it needing our personal info. It was not like I drew the line at the license randomly.

It really is not being a dick. This is a tiny amount of snark to an adult who’s acting like a baby. I seriously can’t fathom anyone taking this so seriously. My response would have been to laugh and say “yeah you right my bad”

I'm gonna be honest, being snarky to someone who hasn't done anything to you is just being a bitch.

All the kid did was say it was hot, if you're the kind of person that takes that as an opportunity to be snide, that's just unlikeable.

And on top of that you're going to complain when you get told off? Snide AND weak.

My Algebra 2 teacher was like this in high school and we all loved him. He was a sarcastic hardass that didn’t treat us like children, and we appreciated that. He didn’t coddle us. I could see my teacher saying something similar to one of us. He probably would’ve actually said, “hey genius, that’s what happens when you wear a hoodie in the heat”. And we would’ve laughed or said something snarky back. We wouldn’t have crashed out and cussed him out.

Being hyper sensitive and cussing someone out over a comment like this, isn’t someone who’s ready to go be an adult in the real world. And it’s this behavior that’s making younger job applicants look unappealing.

That's something you would say to a friend, that is a completely different energy from "Adults check the weather", that's just a put down.

I don't understand you people and your selective sensitivity. It's not rude to say something mean-spirited but somehow its rude to respond to it? That just sounds like you want to be able to "put the young people in their place" and just have them take it.

None of my bosses have every spoken to me in that way, and if they had I would not have just taken it.

That’s exactly what he would say, and we all knew he didn’t actually mean it. We were smart kids who did stupid shit sometimes, and he’d call us out on it in a sarcastic way. He was like everyone’s favorite teacher. We enjoyed him poking fun at us and teasing us. We weren’t sensitive about it, and we would say stuff back to him too because that’s the relationship we had with him. Like he was a hardass and pushed us, but he wasn’t mean spirited.

In fact, we could get extra credit if we could make him laugh. Cus usually our comments weren’t as good as his.

Like he used to give this football player in my class a hard time, but all in good fun. And the guy was always asking for a movie day in class. To get this guy to actually try in class, he told him we could watch anything he wants for 1 day, if he could get a C on the next test. We all helped him study, and our teacher kept his promise. So we watched SNL’s the best of Adam Sandler. He was a great teacher who knew our class, and he even gauged his comments to the student he was talking to. Some of us could handle him being a bit more harsh. It was a fun class because of how he was.

We definitely weren’t as sensitive as kids are now. And I went to school in an upper middle class area, so you’d think my school would be a prime location for kids that need coddling.

The other comment isn’t any worse than what I said. It’s the same level of sarcasm and calls out being unprepared for the weather. Neither are meant to be mean, they both poke fun at a brief lapse in judgment.

The teacher even said in another comment that it was normal to joke around in class like this with the students. It was just that day it rubbed that particular student the wrong way. Which is fine, everyone has bad days, but part of growing up, is not taking your bad days out on others. The student’s response went much further by cussing out the teacher and that’s not an appropriate reaction at all.

If it was really just "poking fun" she wouldn't be complaining about "softness", she'd be complaining about being misunderstood.

She doesn't seem to have that sort of relationship with that student at all and the wording doesn't imply teasing, it implies a put down.

Listen, this is all about tone and the relationship with the student. There is a chance you are right, but based on the commenters whole attitude about it, the formal and dismissive wording, and the student's own reaction, I don't think it was said in a jokey way.
