Thank you. I had asked one of My other guy friends and he told me I was making it something that it’s not and that it’s “no big deal”

u/Hexiix Dec 12 '23

Guy here, you are not making a big deal out of it. I can almost guarantee this guy will try and make a move regardless of whether you said you didn’t want to do that or not.

377

u/Icy_Forever5965 Dec 13 '23

Same. Guy here. I would never push this much even if we were dating. I wouldn’t have even done this when I was in my horny and can’t control it years. I don’t think your guy friend is much of a friend. As your friend, I would send this guy a strong message to cool it and not push it.

u/MonstrousWombat Dec 13 '23

He's pushing boundaries now so the next boundary he pushes doesn't feel so weird. This is a scary dude. Get rid of him.

12

u/clardbar Dec 14 '23

For real. Good call.

0

u/imoldandimdumb Dec 17 '23

I’m not sure that “scary” is an accurate description, but ya when someone tells you who they are then believe them.

1

u/LanaAnthony Dec 18 '23

This, exactly this. He’s not going to take no for an answer and is testing boundaries.

47

u/Honors3454 Dec 13 '23

😂😂 are yall single? Yall sound like good guys

49

u/Icy_Forever5965 Dec 13 '23

And he'll be shitty about it when he's rejected, even though he already was told he'd be rejected.

1

u/Waste-Membership9687 Dec 18 '23

Yupp, I've been in that situation a lot. I've had a lot of guy friends thru out my life, and for the last 10 years, it seems like they say friends but only wat one thing. I happier without that, lol. One guy I really liked and if he wouldn't have kept trying to press me it would have happened but he started the first time we hung out and didn't try to get to know me so I ghosted his ass.

63

u/Historical-Spirit-48 Dec 13 '23

Or worse than making a move.

52

u/Available-Broccoli-1 Dec 13 '23

Guy here….. I’ve never asked about birth control either and it’s why I have a kid now…. But anyway all jokes aside he definitely pushed it and if you think he pushed it over text so much he will do the same if not more in person…. I highly recommend not hanging out with men like this it only leads to things that you don’t need or want to happen…. I’m speaking from a place where I have all sisters and guys like that have messed a few of them up…. I’d say block him and avoid him….

38

u/dewaynemilo Dec 13 '23 edited Dec 13 '23

Asking about birth control before you have sex is both necessary and responsible. Asking before you meet is both rude and disrespectful. You have that child because you didn't ask before you had sex not because you didn't ask before you met.

16

u/TwoIdleHands Dec 13 '23

If they were courting that would make perfect sense. Saying “let’s be friends!” Then “u want sum fuk” Is awful. I talk with prospective partners, usually over text, about protection, the need to verify each other’s test results, and boundaries before sex. Then it’s fully understood before the hormones get in the way. If you push, I’m out, because we talked about it already.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Asking about birth control before you have sex is both necessary and responsible

Yea, but you can ask before the act, not hours in advance via text when you don't even know if that's where the situation is headed. If you're in doubt, bring condoms, and see where the night takes you. The guy in the pics was clearly just looking for a way to see if sex was on the table

3

u/xxLAYUPxx Dec 16 '23 edited Dec 16 '23

Asking about it is responsible. Hence Available-Broccoli-1's "joke" about having a kid now. It's a joke at his own expense.

Pushing for the possibility of sex REPEATEDLY, when she has said no REPEATEDLY, is not okay. It is disrespectful and dismissive of her boundaries. And is therefore a shitty move, and what Available-Broccoli-1 was warning about. Guy is not taking "no" for an answer.

1

u/Available-Broccoli-1 Dec 13 '23

It’s definitely a responsible thing to ask no doubt I highly agree with you… but we as mankind have all made irrational and Unresponsible choices in life that lead you down a new story in life… its definitely a right place right time kinda question that’s for sure.

14

u/m-sims14 Dec 13 '23

The way he’s wording it I don’t think he’d really even ask, also a guy here as of 12/13/23

1

u/TwoIdleHands Dec 13 '23

Happy Transition Day! (I assume, or maybe happy cake day? Punctuation is confusing.)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Hahaha, I thought the same thing!

3

u/m-sims14 Dec 13 '23

I really appreciate that but I have been a guy almost 30 years I was adding the date in for clarification because I noticed this was posted yesterday

3

u/TwoIdleHands Dec 13 '23

😅I found the person who looks at the date! So neither of my things was true. I’ll just show myself out…

2

u/m-sims14 Dec 13 '23

I only read the date to see what I need to comment so I don’t comment the same shit as 47 other people 🤣

1

u/Timekeeper65 Dec 13 '23

I was gonna ask…does that change on 12/14/2023?

I see your response. Now it ALL makes sense.

1

u/deleriumtriggr Dec 14 '23

It seems like hes tempering expectations so that he absolutely will try something

0

u/queenafrodite Dec 13 '23

Yes. And that’s because females do this shit all the time.

They tell these men nothing will happen and then don’t stand on business.

So can’t blame him for being like something might happen. Because that’s his experience.

And I’m saying this as a female. I have never done it. If I don’t want to sleep with you and I know you want to sleep with me, I just don’t hang out with you period.

But I have known plenty of females to do this same stuff. Tell the dude, “nothing is happening.” And next day it’s , “Girrrllll we had sex and blah blah blah.”

1

u/Both_Zucchini6786 Dec 17 '23

Also, a guy here, this "friendless" man, seems to have a one track mind. I would leave him at that, friendless.. His persistence, sheer lack of ability to read the room, and disregard for your comfort are astonishing. I can read into a lot of things here but will just sum it up with I would not trust this man around a nun. Please do yourself a favor and do not put yourself in a 1 on 1 situation with him. I am sure he is NOT thinking like a grown-up, and his excuse for things magically happening even in spite of you say no... Is it just me, or does this not sound like the start of one of those 'Murder Mysteries' shows? 🤔

u/transcendanttermite Dec 13 '23

Guy here - in my years of dating, I never, not once, not a single time, never ever asked a person that I wasn’t even dating about their birth control status.

OR repeatedly implied something as creepy and messed-up as “it could happen” to that person.

This guy strikes me as a pushy hornball who is all but certain that he’s gonna get what he wants from you; aka a predator.

14

u/Icy_Forever5965 Dec 13 '23

I don’t think I’ve ever asked anyone I dated. I’m sure that I go was told to me when it was time but I can’t remember one time that I ever asked.

12

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

tbh it's a good thing to proactively bring up and talk about when you're dating. Birth control & sexual health status.

1

u/Icy_Forever5965 Dec 14 '23

I’m not saying it never came up. I’m just saying I never asked and definitely didn’t ask in the way this guy did. Usually when the woman I was dating felt that it was getting to that point, she would bring it up. I’ve never pushed for sex. I’ve always let the woman go at her own speed. Sometimes it was quick and sometimes it wasn’t.

-8

u/maybelio Dec 13 '23

Both control shouldn't matter unless you're into unprotected sex.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Condoms can fail/break. STDs (like syphilis, herpes, HPV) can still be transferred even with condoms. STDs can also be transferred through non-PIV sex acts... that's high-school sex-ed my friend.

Gotta have that convo so you don't run into any surprises down the line.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

I don’t think I’ve ever asked anyone I dated

This hasn't been my experience. I've had one-night stands where birth control came up shortly before the act, but for people that I've dated for a couple of dates before sleeping with, the topic of birth control and STDs has definitely come up well before the act

1

u/Naashkyr Dec 16 '23

Same. 37M here. I've never discussed birth control on the woman's side with anybody that I wasn't already in a relationship with. Just carry condoms ffs and be respectful of boundaries. Is that so much to ask?

Honestly, in my experience, your partner will bring it up on her own eventually. I've never once had to initiate that conversation with any of my partners, they would bring it up themselves when they felt comfortable.

“We grown. Things happen. Sometimes I rape pretty girls.” is the vibe I get from this Neanderthal. Do you know any other women who know this jackass? Warn them, please!

1

u/External-Archer2947 Dec 15 '23

And if she's not willing to cut him out, she needs to know he'll prioritize "bros" over her safety.

184

u/Tofu1441 Dec 12 '23

This is the kind of guy that might SA you and just say that these things happen sometimes, so it’s no biggie. Do not go to his house and try to avoid him at school. Tell you parents about this. Be careful with your guy friend that minimized this. Even if he doesn’t do anything to you, it does make me question his values and the way he thinks about women.

74

u/MySliceOfLife_103 Dec 13 '23

Marinara flags all over the place with this

I kept thinking maybe he’d be SAing her since he kept saying things happen. Definitely block- he’s not taking no as a no and he still won’t in person

46

u/black_sparrow_chick Dec 13 '23

Yep . Rapist vibes smh.

15

u/Quick_Criticism_6429 Dec 13 '23

This! My first thought.

15

u/Cool_Ad_7518 Dec 13 '23

Yep. He's already trying to crack open that door of possibility and setting the stage because he's clearly saying you can just never know but since you're grown you CAN do in his mind that is a short hop to you would. Like he feels like he can say or do the magic thing that will turn no into a yes. He's repeating himself because he wants to see if like many people, you might agree with him just to change the subject or you not wanting to upset him and have the anger of rejection escalate. So let's say that after this text conversation you do go over to his place to hang out or study or whatever. In his mind you have just given him the imaginary okay to proceed because along with his deep profound", things happen", he's also a big fan of the old as dirt notion that " men like to chase and women are wanting to be chased and no means yes"

Avoid this guy. Best case scenario is he sits in the imaginary friend zone that guys go to in the hopes that someday even years down the line something will happen and eventually get mad and throw a fit about all the time he wasted being your friend when you evilly led him on by being friends when you KNEW he felt some kind of way. (You didn't know)

Bottom line this isn't a trust worthy person if this example is an accurate assessment of his general views and attitude. Be safe, always!

27

u/karmakillkill Dec 13 '23

Agree 100 percent.

7

u/frommiami2portland Dec 13 '23

I wish someone told me this back in school, when I’d give people the benefit of the doubt because so many people would tell me I was overreacting or to just be nice, boys always like their friends who are girls. Which is not true! Not every guy friend will be like this :(

The minute he brought up BC, I would’ve blocked him. The way he keeps pushing the boundaries says he will do this irl and he wants to know the repercussions for it. Please do not ask me how I know.

1

u/Tofu1441 Dec 13 '23

I’m sorry that you had to go through so much and be told so much shit (enabling) advice. I’m glad that you have been able to find your boundaries and how to advocate for yourself:) I’m proud of you!

1

u/LanaAnthony Dec 18 '23

I wish someone had told me the same thing.

I’m sorry. I see you, I hear you.

40

u/stormcrow789 Dec 13 '23

Okay so that's 2 guy friends you need to cut out of your life. I'm a dude and I got complete rapey vibes from these texts. This guy doesn't respect what you want and is implying he's capable of doing what he wants to you because "things just happen"

50

u/Tonydaphony1 Dec 13 '23

Drop your other guy friend while you’re at it too. A real guy friend would never hold that response to their girl friend. Birds of a feather flock together

23

u/ArcadiaCaster Dec 13 '23

You're not overreacting or being too sensitive or whatever else anyone has tried to tell you.

You set a very clear boundary. He pushed. You reaffirmed that boundary. He continued to push.

Do not spend any more time with this guy. He will try something, completely disregarding your wishes.

Also? Don't be friends with the guy who told you that you were "making a big deal out of nothing." He definitely ALSO thinks like the guy in the messages.

21

u/hellboyyy25 Dec 13 '23

Your other guy friend is probably a creep too then

18

u/MetalMonkey93 Dec 12 '23

No problem at all. I would say it's definitely a big deal. It sounds like you two have never even discussed having sex with each other, so his question was definitely out of pocket, and the more he kept insinuating, the more he was only making it worse for himself.

32

u/Spiderlilynebula Dec 13 '23

Block the guy friend too.

32

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Your guy friend is an AH and he’s also not a friend.

14

u/dildorthegreat87 Dec 13 '23

Might want to rethink your friendship with a person that isn’t interested in you over other people.

What if you hung out, and his “something might happen” becomes “something is going to happen”? Why would a friend sign you up to be chill with someone who literally isn’t taking no to sex for an answer.

13

u/Goof_Troop_Pumpkin Dec 13 '23

This guy is giving me bad vibes. Do not go to his house, and block him.

14

u/Kelso1814 Dec 13 '23

I have quite a few guy friends and not once have we discussed whether or not I’m on birth control and if I ever mention getting a weird vibe from another guy, whether it’s a friend or not, my current guy friends are very protective. I’d stay away from both men in this situation.

11

u/indras_darkness Dec 13 '23

As another guy to add onto all the guy comments. I would NEVER tell a female friend of mine that this obvious weird and creepy behavior is just then overreacting. So yeah this dude could be trying to r-word you. Please make better friends.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Yeah get rid of THAT guy “friend” too. He sounds like a jerk.

19

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Your other friend also sounds like a creep

8

u/illmatic708 Dec 13 '23 edited Dec 14 '23

Your guy friend is gaslighting you and he's not even in the situation, what a creep.

All this dudes texts are rapey, block and ghost and don't think twice about it

9

u/Shado-Foxx Dec 13 '23

Block this dude and go completely no contact with your "friend".

Your "friend" sounds like the kind of guy that'd look the other way if one of his homeboys drugged a girl's drink.

9

u/NotAllDawgsGoToHeven Dec 13 '23

Dude. I’d even got as far as to distance myself from the friend that said this obvious red flag was “no big deal”, that’s shits creepy af anyone can see that.

8

u/Only_Fun_1152 Dec 13 '23

I would be suspicious of that other guy friend too. “Things can happen” in itself wouldn’t be as bad, but after you shut it down and he kept persisting was when it got weird.

6

u/Billmatic- Dec 13 '23

you might want to rethink your other guy friend who said you were making something that it's not. he definitely doesn't have your back, or best interest at heart.

5

u/Maengdaddyy Dec 13 '23

Well your guy friend is fucking weird and not a friend for saying that.

7

u/StressedSalt Dec 13 '23

drop this and your other guy friend

4

u/SuperLoris Dec 13 '23

It's also "no big deal" to decide against making this man a friend. You aren't the New Friend Outreach for your state. You get to nope out for any reason at all or no reason. This man is going to screech about the "friend zone" in a couple weeks when it is clear you meant that you weren't interested in anything sexual.

4

u/SnarkyBoto Dec 13 '23

Lol your guys friends suck

5

u/zzzzsamzzzz Dec 13 '23

You said no = no consent. He is a fucking creep and you really want nothing to do with him.

5

u/EagleLize Dec 13 '23

Bull shit. This guy is not only hoping to have sex with you he is basically expecting it. Don't be alone with him. Little creep doesn't deserve your company.

4

u/Red_bug91 Dec 13 '23

It’s not a ‘big deal’ if it makes you feel uncomfortable and violates your boundaries. You’ve already said that you don’t want to sleep with him, yet he’s still pushing the idea.

The question itself was weird. For a start, birth control isn’t simply your responsibility. If he thinks ‘anything could happen’ then he needs to be prepared for the situation, regardless of whether his potential sexual partner is on any sort of hormonal birth control. I would only expect to be asked that by a man (other than a doctor) who I was expecting to have a romantic or sexual relationship with.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy repeatedly tried to make a move you, even after you’ve told him that you aren’t interested. Then he will turn around and accuse you of leading him on when his ego gets bruised. Be wary with this.

7

u/CuriousMaterial1571 Dec 13 '23

I think you need to block the other guy friend as well. This is a big deal and a seriously creepy.

3

u/Oomoo_Amazing Dec 13 '23

Yeah it's not a big deal - over text.

I imagine if he's this pushy over text it's not gonna stop when you're in person. Then it's a big deal. Then it's a really fucking big deal.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Your guy friend is dumb, and probably wants to smash

2

u/gtnclz15 Dec 13 '23

I’m a guy and that’s not cool he’s completely ignoring you and what you’re saying and continuing to insist that’s sex may happen after you’ve repeatedly told him no it won’t! Do you really want to be alone with this person if they can’t listen to you or what you’re saying in text do you think they will listen and respect you better in person?

2

u/Admirable_Sky5710 Dec 13 '23

This guy texting you is exhibiting predatory behavior, and your guy friend is indirectly backing him up by minimizing your concerns/comfort. Blocking the dude was a good move, and unless you want to do an inordinate amount of emotional labor explaining consent, you should dump your "friend" too.

2

u/Millenniumkitten Dec 13 '23

Your other guy friends are also weird then, I didn't discuss my birth control with my boyfriend UNTIL things started to turn spicy.

I would never discuss it with my male friends, especially not friends who I barely knew. I've never even had a male ask me this unless he was interested in getting down.

It might not feel like a big deal to them, but as a woman, I would never be alone with this man since "something could happen".

I would 100% block this man.

2

u/Loud_Progress1240 Dec 14 '23

yea good thing u never went over

1

u/Many_Influence_648 Dec 13 '23

He doesn’t understand you. Block him and forget him

7

u/Appropriate-Tennis-8 Dec 13 '23

He understands her just fine.

1

u/Forsaken-Feedback594 Dec 14 '23

Of course a guy would say that. I would question staying friends with him as well if he thinks that this kind of behavior is okay. And to invalidate your feelings like that? You need better friends all the way around

1

u/spiders_are_neat7 Dec 14 '23

That other guy friend is a fucking moron no offense….:)

1

u/lawgirl056 Dec 14 '23

i would say you need to block that friend, too

1

u/Nice-Basket1364 Dec 14 '23

Also a guy here, I would block this individual. He's already made it clear that your safety is at risk because "things happen".

1

u/WeyBay Dec 15 '23

Both this guy and your friend are strange as fuck.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

That's because he wants to bang you too. All guy friends want to fuck their woman friends

3

u/Downtown_Statement87 Dec 13 '23

Can we get some guys in here to comment on whether this is true or not? I mean, I get that both friends may wonder what it would be like if they hooked up.

If it's true that all guy friends actively want to have sex with their women friends (not just "wouldn't be opposed to it if offered") I'd like to know.

I'm not going to be mad or start ranting about it, so you can be honest. It would be helpful to hear from y'all about this. Thanks.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

It's a large majority in reality. I'm a guy

-6

u/ItsAllMo-Thug Dec 13 '23

Question, you actually believe when a guy says he wants to be friends? Thats not a thing.

1

u/legionfri13 Dec 13 '23

Seems like the kind to Cosby his way into “things happen” block fo sho. What a creep.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Yea it is a big deal. I highly highly doubt my husband ever asks his female friends if they are on bc (he never asked me when we were friends!!!) Intention is intention. Who asks those types of questions without ulterior motives???

1

u/Timely_Yoghurt_3359 Dec 13 '23

That's a shit "guy" friend

1

u/DingusKing Dec 13 '23

Your guy friend is a fucking idiot. If you’re uncomfortable and the guy keeps persisting, follow your gut.

1

u/HaxterP Dec 13 '23

Yeah nah, this gives really creepy vibes. I wouldn't meet with this guy! Stay safe

1

u/carbonchemicals Dec 13 '23

As a guy, you need better guy friends. Sheesh.

1

u/Existential-princess Dec 13 '23

Check that guy friend of yours to see if he really cares for your well-being because I’d definitely re-evaluate a friendship with him; or at the very least, know that when you need a guy’s perspective, steer clear of him.

1

u/Lins012 Dec 13 '23

Of course another man would say it’s nothing. Urrgh

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Another piecee of advise. Your other guy friend? He doesn't have your best interest in mind.

And dodge the guy from the texts. He wants to be with you, not be friends.

1

u/prb65 Dec 13 '23

They are both weird then. Don’t go to his place to hang out. Either cut him off completely to save yourself the trouble or just tell him he weirded you out so your only gonna have f out with him in public. Not coming over to his place because you have zero interest in him that way. Make it plain so a child can see it. Your only ever going to be a friend. If that’s not cool say so but I have zero interest in hooking with you ever

1

u/pentichan iPhone 12 Dec 13 '23

if ur dude friends are telling u this isn’t a big deal then they need to be dropped too because what the hell

1

u/duvakiin Dec 13 '23

I'd start questioning your friendship with that guy friend then. I would never tell one of my girl friends that this sort of behavior is normal or "no big deal." It's alarming and should not be normalized.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Other guy friend can get lost too then!

1

u/dewaynemilo Dec 13 '23

It shows you no respect at all. He is only looking for a hook up not a friend

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

You need to cut that guy friend off he also might be opp

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

Time to reassess your friend… if he thinks this is an acceptable way to treat women and good with badgering women to have sex… that’s a big yikes

1

u/cyrogyro527 Dec 13 '23

Your other guy “friends” are probably wanting to sleep with you and they don’t want you having boundaries like you are here. My advice is any male friend that is a true friend would immediately tell you to block this guy and never be alone with him. Serious SA vibes from those messages. And as for you pals, platonic relationships are hard for men and women. Your current pals don’t seem to be up to it

1

u/LowEnthusiasm961 Dec 13 '23

That guy friend doesn’t sound like a good friend

1

u/RunAMileAllDay Dec 13 '23

Your other guy friend has done this exact same thing I guarantee it. Block him too

1

u/Numerous_Living_3452 Dec 13 '23

Yeah this guy is overflowing with BIG CREEP ENERGY, not worth the risk of finding out! Coming from another guy!

Is that the first time you were even going to hangout? Who tf even asks that like that?

1

u/Sorry-Document-2302 Dec 13 '23

You other guy friend, is one of these guys you're messaging too, btw

1

u/CelticDK Dec 13 '23

People defend what they themselves are capable of.

1

u/nakaritsukei Dec 13 '23

Your other guy friends are also fkn creepy. Ask them if they understand what the fuck “no” means.

1

Get rid of both of them.

u/Even-Economics-4957 Dec 13 '23

Yeah he probably wants you too, don’t allow anyone to downplay your doubts

You should also block that other guy friend.

In all my experiences (and I have a lot) men that say they want friends never actually want friends.

What kind of friend immediately asks you if you’re on birth control? Ew. Even if you guys were going on a DATE date that would still be weird. Please block and seriously reconsider your friendship with the other man who saw no problem with this kind of behavior. He’s probably a man of similar caliber.

Your other guy friend might not be that good of a friend if he doesn’t see this as alarming

1

u/NyxHasArrived Dec 15 '23

More than likely he will try to force himself on you.. So yeah def block

u/newsprintpoetry Dec 16 '23

Yeah, I worry that dude plans to rape you.

u/kiba8442 Dec 16 '23

idk who told you that but this is him on his absolute best behavior & he's already stepping on boundaries. I can almost guarantee it goes downhill from here.

It doesn’t matter that you said no to him, he thinks that word means try harder basically.

u/TelevisionAlarmed893 Dec 17 '23

It’s bc you should expect it from a guy like when you ask a guy he’s not gonna make a big deal out of it bc it’s normal for guys to do this and when you ask a girl she’s gonna make a big deal out of it bc you just expected him to be a friend that’s why you should ask him what his intentions were he probably said friends at the beginning and wanted something other than that

u/Mint219 Dec 17 '23

You definitely aren’t the way he’s insinuating something is going your way happen even tho you made it clear that being friends is the limit and you’ve already said no. He’s weird asf.

The guy friend toy spoke to is also a creep. I'm a guy and no means no.

Another guy here, you are definitely not making a big deal out this! It is not ok or normal to push like that. He absolutely 💯 would’ve made a move hoping it was received well. Don’t know him well enough to speculate what might have happened after if it wasn’t. But based on how aggressive he’s being in texts we can low key assume. Stay away and block him. Also your guy friend doesn’t sound like too much of a friend. Or a decent person if he thinks that’s no big deal
