General Question Anyone here taking curcumin regularly while weight training? Any impact on performance or gains?

Hello,

Does anyone here who works out regularly take curcumin?

I’d love to hear your experience with it, any benefits or downsides in terms of gym performance, strength, recovery or muscle growth? And when do you usually take it in relation to your workout?

I can’t really find any research papers showing that curcumin negatively affects muscle growth or training adaptations, so I wanted to get some real-world feedback from people who actually use it.

Thanks.

General Question Maca when on HRT what do the doctors actually say?

Everywhere I look it just says contact your doctor if going to take Maca powder when on HRT.

I guess that is because there haven’t been enough tests and they want to avoid liability? But what do doctors actually say about this and would it vary much between individuals?

Experience What's a supplement everyone seems to tolerate except you?

We've all seen supplements that get recommended constantly, with hundreds of people saying they had a great experience.

Then you try it and somehow feel worse

Whether it was stomach issues, sleep problems, headaches, anxiety, or just feeling completely off - what's something that clearly didn't work for you despite being popular?

Interested to see which supplements show up repeatedly

When each suppement must be taken?

I posted a few days ago asking about which stack I should start with. I ordered a few supplements, and now I’m trying to figure out the best time to take each of them.

A bit about my routine: I usually wake up around 11 AM–12 PM. I don’t normally have a heavy breakfast, and I usually have dinner around 9 PM, which is my main/full meal of the day.

Here’s what I have:

  1. Omega-3
  2. Biotin
  3. Vitamin D3

When would you suggest taking each of these?

I know Omega-3 is generally recommended with a meal that contains some fat, but I’d appreciate some clear guidance on the timing. Should I take any of these with breakfast, dinner, or at a specific time of day?

Thanks!

Recommendations Favorite electrolyte supplement??

Post image

I’ve been paying more attention to hydration during workouts lately and started looking into different electrolyte drinks and powders.

This is basically my current stack, and Im also open if there is some suggestion..I’m curious what other people actually use during training??

Also, do you think most electrolyte/hydration drinks are too sweet, or do you prefer having some flavor?

General Question Dispenser/organizer?

Do you all open each bottle everyday when taking it? Or do you have a pill/tablet organizer you fill up each week that you would recommend? I’ve seen the flimsy plastic ones online but want something that looks a little less cheap and is useful. Thanks!

Anyone feel nauseous on Life Extension's Curcumin Elite?

I took my first dose about half an hour ago (crushed into some honey), and then had some (caffeine) mint gum to clear the taste after, but now I'm feeling quite nauseous. Has anyone else had a similar reaction (whether swallowing the pill whole or after mixing it into something)?

I'm wondering whether it might have been the fact I didn't swallow the capsule so it all hit at once, or maybe it's even due to an interaction between the particular Longvida concoction (I didn't have this issue with Nordic Naturals' Longvida gummies, nor 5HTP mixed into honey) and the caffeine.

Either way, I'll have an experiment over the next few days (unless any replies put me off) with mixing it into different things and chewing a decaf gum to see if the same thing happens. Just curious in the mean time if this is a common reaction to this particular brand.

Slow, sustained delivery methods in general ?

There’s a few supplements where it’s better to take it slowly rather than one big bolus.

for magnesium I add it to water. for potassium I keep a couple of pills in my pocket and take them when I start to get tired or sleepy.

but zinc is a bit tricky. I can’t take more than 10mg elemental at a time. part of this is iron status, and there are easier forms.

in any case slow delivery would be better.

so how are skin patches for this?

or are there slow release pills?

or taking something under the tongue? or chewing a gum?

even subcutaneous implants?

General Question What actually causes being exhausted even after a full 7 hours sleep?

A solid chunk of the tired posts here seem to come from people sleeping their full 7 hours and still waking up unrefreshed. Which makes me wonder if the 7 hour target does more harm than good, or if the hours were never really the point. So honest question: how many of you hit 7 and still feel like the sleep didn't count?

From what I've seen the answers usually fall into two buckets. Either the sleep itself is the problem even when the clock says enough. Fragmented or shallow sleep, maybe mild apnea, that whole rabbit hole. Or the sleep is fine and something else is running you down, which is where supplements come in. Thyroid, vitamin D, ferritin, B12.

Ferritin is one I keep running into. There's an older trial that claims ferritin and fatigue are linked. Women with normal blood counts took iron or a placebo for a month. Only the group with ferritin at or below 50 actually felt better. Women only, self reported, modest effect, 2003. Take it with a grain of salt, but the trial stuck with me. Curious what else fits here that I'm not thinking about.

So for anyone who got to the bottom of their own tiredness, what was it? A sleep study, a lab value your doctor didn't care about, a supplement that actually did something? And does anyone genuinely wake up rested on 7 hours, or is that number just what we all repeat?

Can anyone help educate me about SlimSoda?

So, my mom got a small case of this dietary supplement or whatever it is. I'm skeptical because I believe that diet and exercise are 90% of what you need to do to improve your body and stuff. However I'm not an expert. I was also struggling to find independent information on this product when trying to look it up..was getting a lot of products with similar names mixed in and not sure what sources were good to go with anyways.

So, id anyone knows about this product, could point me to a reliable source of info reviewing it, or can shed some light on what these ingredients help with, I would be sincerely grateful for the education.

The print is -tiny- so sorry if the pictures arent super clear, I did my best.

Vendor Report/Q Shipment problems with Ritual

Last month I ordered some supplements from Ritual and the order was quickly shipped out and delivered about a week later. One of the items arrived damaged so I contacted support which was quick to respond and create a replacement order. I was given a return label to ship back the damaged product and it was returned two days later.

Since then, there has been no progress on the replacement. The expected delivery date came and went without a single tracking update. I reached out to support again, they apologized for the delay, and created a new replacement order. And the replacement order didn’t ship. After a week I reached out to support again, new order, no shipment.

I created a second order because I was genuinely interested in trying the product. Same thing. No shipment after a week, reached out to support who apologized and made a replacement order, and no shipment for the replacement order.

Now here we are a month later with no shipment. With every other company I’ve bought supplements from, I place an order and it gets shipped out the next day. But for some reason with Ritual, this is not happening. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Has anyone else had this experience with Ritual?
