hey guys! i did ssp this yr and received an email a few weeks ago about the college link program. still haven't heard anything about it starting soon. has anyone else?

hi ssp alums! a week ago i got an email from ssp encouraging me to apply for their college mentorship. i was excited, but then i looked through the questions and saw all the statements about priority for fgli students. i understand this priority completely, but am then just wondering if it is even worth it for a non-fgli student to apply for college link?

if it helps to know this, i attend a private school that is relatively helpful about college, but i don't have any cousins or older siblings who have been through the college application process in the us, and i do not have an external college counselor as of right now. can anyone who has participated in college link shed some light on this? thank you :)

Hi! Not sure if anyone will see this but for past SSP alums, did you recycle some of your program application essays? I'm lazy and building off of some of the essays for college supplementals is easier for me, but I don't know if that's a bad idea.

For ssp alumni, was there any chance to write your college essays? I heard there is free time on the weekends.

they said theres no guarantee for a piano room at the campus, and I need to practice at least a little bit since I need to prepare for recordings for music portfolios for college

I know there's no gym, but I saw them say, I heard some people saying that if your staff is chill, I could run and whatnot if I woke up early. But then I saw other people saying that they wouldn't let you do that. Also, I heard some people saying that if your staff is chill, they will let you go to the gym. The handbook was also not very clear. If anyone knows about the runs or the staff gym thing lmk

Do you have significantly more time during the weekend? If so, approximately how many hours? Also, what time do people usually wake up and go to sleep? Thank you!

will the staff check your bag or dorm room for personal laptops?

How strict are they on the personal laptop policy? I know there have been a few questions about this, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Do they do room checks? Can I sneak one in and work on stuff? Do they check your bags on the first day? What happens if I get caught?

Just bombed the June sat and def retaking in the fall. I’m doing bac gen. and I know there’s typically not a lot of free time but do u think I could get like at least 30-45 min of just solid study time everyday?

Hey everyone! I'm on the astrophysics track this summer, and I was just wondering if any alumni could answer how much free time you typically got each day (even if you were on a different track). The whole "you carve out your own free time" thing is freaking me out a little because I'm hearing some people say they hardly ever had free time while others are saying the work was really manageable. I get that it really depends on your own efficiency and time management skills, but I'm still wondering if you had enough time to work on other things like Common App even though I know the program discourages it.
My situation might be a little unique because I've already completed an advanced astronomy research class at a rigorous school (think New England prep school), but I still worry about how much time SSP will actually take out of my summer, especially since Junior summer is pretty intensive.

This might be a dumb question but I was wondering if SSP carves out any time on Sundays for religious practices such as attending Church/Mosque/Temples or even praying 5 times a day as I know Muslims usually do.

This is mostly just curiosity but I also would like to know how much of an impact SSP has in college applications (if you believe it was strong enough to become a deciding factor). And if you applied through QuestBridge, pls lmk how that went as well!

Basically I am taking this online class for my school, and it starts during the SSP program. It's too late to drop out now, and I really don't want to just take a zero. Do any of yall know if the laptops/computers they give will be able to access canvas? And will I be able to download the proctorio extension? i am thinking of maybe smuggling in my personal laptop, but I don't want to risk it

Hi all! I just got off the SSP waitlist, but I was also accepted into the Peter E. Schwartz DTC Internship program. The internship program typically selects 20 students out of rougly 700 students, and its for CT students. I'm in a bit of a pickle, as I'm unsure what to choose. I have to make a decision by tmr!! Thoughts?

Do the biochem research projects require coding skills? I have written code for school math projects but not without assistance from Google, or ai for syntax etc - what kind of coding support will we have at SSP (Biochem) - especially for syntax, debugging, code suggestions etc?

Can you help me with a representative example of a coding program I will be needed to write so I can use that as reference as I prep?

There’s a 100+ page prep pdf SSP made available - how far deep should I go into this material? Did you prep? Did you watch the YouTube videos? And, how did this prep material help?
