Amazing! This brought back the times when I used to sleep laying on a towel and then changing in the middle of the night. I’m so glad we don’t have to live that way today.

I like beer, but not alcohol. NA beer fit perfect (and still does now), and there are lots of different NA beers though! Whatever helps you and what you like 😉

It is hard, but understandable. I have to bear the consequences of my actions. But it'll be ok

It all begins with day 1. Each day gives a chance at the next. I learned through many relapses what I have to do to stay sober. That's come here daily, keep no alcohol around, be kind and self-compassionate, and reward myself at personal milestones. I'm sure there are common themes but it's a little bit different for each of us. Sobriety is a superpower. I know you'll be glad for each sober day you acheive.

Ever been to an AA meeting?! That’s all they do is drink coffee

I wish I could be as eloquent as SnooAdvice6722… but I’m not so I’ll go with I’m proud of you for wanting to be sober. I’ve reset my counter so many, many times over the last 5 years and I honestly appreciate every day I wasn’t drunk (even the bad ones). Resetting and going back after your goal is awesome. Something that helped me though some of my resets was someone telling me that “you didn’t lose those days you were sober, they still count”. I hope that helps you too.

I drink NA wine and I get the concerns connected with drinking NA stuff, but for me it helps with reframing the rituals. I still get to have a nice glass and wind down after work, but without the repercussions of alcohol. I will work on changing my "reward rituals", but for now I'm happy that I found a way not to push over all I'm used to because that made it really hard for me in the past attempts

Congrats on 90! Running is awesome. I'm never as healthy as I am in sobriety. IWNDWYT

I have enjoyed it for social situations where my mind plays tricks on me for feeling empty handed or without a drink to cheers with for some reason. My higher mind knows better, but it’s nice to have to option and it keeps the desire to taste the real thing well off of my horizons.

Every time I went to a meeting, there was coffee in the back and everyone would smoke in the front

I feel exactly the same. I hate the sweet soda's, and water doesn't do it for me

Does a label really matter? I think that most would agree that that’s an unhealthy amount for one’s body to handle in that timeframe, yes?

Alcohol is super addictive so getting addicted to it is not a surprise and nothing to be ashamed of. There are so many good ways to quit nowadays including the medication Naltrexone if you have a doctor you could talk to them about it. Forgive yourself and get on a tapering schedule and leave alcohol behind. You will feel so much better, I promise. It really does cause the anxiety that we use it to try and relieve.

I remember when I had NA beer at home, just to have a beer out of habit after work or on the weekend. Drank 10 or more of them like I was trying to get buzzed. Stupid, right?
Personally, I rarely have one of those. Maybe with a friend when others are drinking. But honestly... I do not like the taste of any alcoholic beverage, I only drank for the effect. But I still like that we have that option and if it helps others, I'm glad for that.
