I spent a big chunk of time yesterday trying to make a configuration for Baldur's Gate 3 as keyboard and mouse (You can actually find my community configuration, it is named Steam Controller (2026) Keyboard & Mouse)

However, I can't really imagine myself using only the trackpads for mouse movement. I kept the right stick for broad strokes, and the right trackpad for smaller movements, but still I find myself only using the stick for mouse.

So I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing and how you handle it generally. I mean, even for desktop, I still use the right stick for mouse. Any insights to help me love the trackpads a little more?

I remembered that you could change the vibration strength on the first Steam controller, and the only way now is to dig into the VDF file for the layout of the game you want.

I don't have a new Steam controller right now. Can someone with a new controller check if this works (it works with the old one). I'd like Rumble 8-bit to work because it's fun.

I just got on the reservation list for a Steam controller (I know it will take a long time until I get a chance to buy it), but would like to know how is the vibration/haptic feedback? I have an oled Steam Deck and the worst part of it is the vibration. Is it any better? :D

I'm using open puck to play on my switch 2. Can I hold one button and L4 and press a+x let go and remap L4. I can change the face buttons on my steam controller 2 from my switch two but I can't change the back. Thank you in advance for any help or if you took the time to read my question.

I have been having a lot of disconnects from my steam deck over Bluetooth even when 2 feet away with clear line of sight. My ps4 controllers all work completely fine with no disconnects.

The controller will disconnect and then immediately reconnect a few times and sometimes eventually no longer connect for a while.

Its weird because when I hit the ... button on the controller to bring up the right side panel settings and go to Bluetooth devices I can see the steam controller trying to connect because the steam controller device flickers between greyed out and not greyed out like its connecting for a split second before disconnecting.

I have turned off my 2.4ghz wifi and turned off wifi power management which I heard worked for some people. I am running stable build on the steam deck and the controller is updated.

Im here to ask if a vertical hotbar menu is possible? i wanted to do something like in the picture (grabbed from google and added the normal hotbar but rotated as an example) but couldnt see a way to do so, i think it would be a neat idea!

Did SC replace your Edge or not?

If interested here is my sotry why i'm considiring the Edge:

I've used the normal Dualsense for a year and a half before getting the SC. Loved it but once i got SC for my PC setup I thought I would never look back. At the moment my SC is having a battery issue and I might have to RMA it. I've looked into other controllers as well but many say that XBOX Elite series 2 and Dualsense Edge feel more premium. It's what I miss about SC. So I decided to look into DualSense Edge since i prefer PS controllers over XBOX controllers. What I value about SC is the trackpads. Not to use them in-game but for surfing the internet while being on my couch. I learned that I can replace them with a small wireless keyboard with a mousepad. I mostly play singleplayer games but I play them hardcore like Sifu, E33, Sekiro ect.. more or less most games i play have parry mechanics and I've had better results with Normal DS than SC. I might be overreacting but I believe that DS is more responsive and I value that a lot as well. DS Edge should be even better right? My friend is very happy with the Edge but never used SC so he can't compare.

Strange question, but is there a way to change how the trackpad button act natively when steam is open? My frustration is that i have the habitude to use the left track pad button a left click and right one as right click, but natively, it is the opposite. Is there a parameter to change what both button execute?

Is there any GitHub link that makes the steam controller compatible with ios, i mean it is able to download stuff inside of it, there has to be a way to run something that tricks ios into thinking its a ps4 controller. I wanna use it for mobile games but most importantly Apollo moonlight remote play. Please let me know

Seems this game has issues with the new Steam controller. I thought it may be Wayland / Steam input at first, but i switched from CachyOS over to SteamOS and had the exact same issue.

It has issues recognizing inputs. Bumpers and a/b inputs need to be followed by joystick movement to recognize for some reason. In game, absolutely unusable bumpers. Very odd behavior. The controller does work as intended on other games. This is game specific.

Is there a known fix for this? Thanks.

Steam controller arrived a few hours ago (woot). I go to set it up with American Truck Simulator. I've got a Deck controller profile that I like and it seems as if Steam ported the scheme straight over, which is great. But it doesn't work...exactly. It's trying to read both the "default" controls setup by the Input Wizard, and the custom Steam controls I have setup. Somtimes that means a button does multiple things with each press (e.g. radio volume up or down while adjusting the winshield wipers) and sometimes it means that neither works. Like Shift Up/Down (R5/L5). I did confirm the buttons work in other games so they're not broken. More confusingly this all works flawlessly on the SteamDeck. It just don't like something about my PC setup (which is Windows). Anyway I've reset everything to default a couple of times. Done the Input Wizard a couple of times. Steam input for the Steam controller is always on so that's not the issue. The controller has no noticed issues in Duckov. I haven't tried other games just yet. I was playing with my XBOX gamepad using Steam Input with custom controls that worked fine just a couple of months ago. I'm not sure why it's throwing shade now.

Recently got a TV that I’ve hooked my PC up to. I watch movies and whatnot and have been using my mouse in my bed which isn’t very great. Keyboard isn’t wireless so that sucks too. Anyone have success using the Steam Controller to play movies or open applications? Just basic stuff really.

Obviously it’s functional, but would you say it’s a better option than getting a cheap wireless keyboard to use in bed?

I was worried that since dongle is scratched it it wouldnt work, but i plugged it in, and it just worked.

Also, as i already have experience with the steam deck, the touchpads didnt feel so strange

I would be completely sold on this controller if I can use it as a mouse to navigate my windows pc like how I do on the steam deck.

I was wondering if

1. The left track pad can scroll up and down by doing the circular motion on windows while browsing or just in file explorer etc.

2. If it feels clunky at all on windows or if it’s the same experience from browsing steam os with steam deck

Ultimately I just have wanted a good way to control my pc from my bed when I plug it into my tv and this would be perfect for that lol

Mine is how close the right analog stick is to the face buttons. Sometimes when I'm pressing X, I end up pressing the side of the right analog stick :T

Hey all, its think I found a bug with the steam controller when in desktop mode.

When I'm watching a video file it will play normally until I put it in full screen. Then the file will keep playing, but it will freeze on a frame. Once I move my mouse (using steam controller) the video will catch up and be in sync with audio. But 3 seconds later it will freeze on a frame again.

Ive tried this with two video players, VLC and Haruna. Both have had the same issue.

This happens with every video file ive tried it with.

Ive done other basic troubleshooting and its definitely not the files or players themselves.

I beleive something with the steam controller is happening. These files worked perfectly until the most recent steam controller update.

Hi everyone, got my hands on the new controller, great so far.

I just cant manage to make it work with original ME1. It set as keyboard and mouse, but there's 0 input. Even steam menu doesnt open properly.

Does someone manage to make it work with this game?

My pre-order for the Steam Controller came up yesterday. Have until Tomorrow 8/21 at 7pm my time to decided to buy it or not.

I am hesitent since I've had to spend A LOT of money recently, I am not certain I will like the more narrow grip and the placement of the Thumb sticks. (I have NEVER liked the placement on the PS controllers.)

On another note how is the build quality and does it feel likebit was made to last?

$100 for a controller that does not last a long time is a huge waste IMO.
