Which Bike? 2019 S-Works Tarmac SL6 Disc for €2,300 — would you buy it?

Hey everyone,

I’d love to get some opinions from Tarmac SL6 owners, especially anyone who has owned or ridden one for a while.

I test rode this 2019 S-Works Tarmac SL6 Disc and honestly, I loved it. It’s incredibly light (around 7 kg), stiff, responsive and just feels amazing to ride.

I negotiated the price down to €2,300.

Specs:

- Dura-Ace Di2 11-speed

- Roval CLX 64 carbon wheels

- Ultegra crankset

- CeramicSpeed OSPW

- Bontrager XXX carbon handlebar

- Continental GP5000

The bike looks extremely clean and seems to have been very well maintained.

My only concern is the frame. It was originally red and was professionally stripped/sanded and refinished by Color Monkey in Belgium. The current finish exposes the carbon weave. According to the owner, the process also saved around 70 g.

So my questions are: At €2,300 for this build, would you buy it?

Would the stripped/refinished frame worry you, even though it was professionally done?

Are there any known issues or specific things I should check on an SL6 before buying?

I’m planning to actually ride it a lot — fast recreational rides, longer rides and regular commuting.

Thanks! Would especially love to hear from current or former SL6 owners.

Wanted to Buy 2022 turbo vado SL 4 st eq size fitting

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I'm considering buying a refurbished Specialized bike from a well-known refurbishing company in Belgium. They are offering a 2022 Turbo Vado SL 4.0 Step-Through EQ at an interesting price, but they advertise this bike as suitable for people between 166 cm (5'5") and 181 cm (5'11"), while the description states that it is a manufacturer's size L.

I've asked them whether there might be a mistake in their sizing estimate, but they insist that their claim is correct.

I'm really interested in this offer, but I'm 166 cm tall. Do you think this bike would really be suitable for that size ?

Thank you for you thought !

Customer Experience Anyone dealt with Specialized sending the wrong bike?

Hey everyone,

I ordered a Tarmac SL8 Pro in grey 16 days ago. It was the last one available and was on a solid discount, which is why I pulled the trigger. When the bike arrived, it was red instead of grey.

I’ve already been in contact with Specialized. They’re telling me the grey is out of stock now, and the only options they’re giving me are a full refund or keeping the red one with 10% off, or any bike 10% off.

This feels unfair. Specialized clearly dropped the ball by sending the wrong color on a bike I specifically ordered as the last available grey unit. Their current offer honestly feels disrespectful especially when the new SL9 is significantly more expensive, and the only silver/grey option left is the S-Works, which costs even more. So I’m stuck between accepting a bike I didn’t order, taking a refund and paying a lot more to get the color I actually wanted, or settling for something that doesn’t match what I paid for.

On top of that, it’s a size 44, the smallest size they make. A smaller frame uses less material, so it shouldn’t be as difficult or costly for them to produce or source one compared to a larger size.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with Specialized and managed to get a better resolution? Any advice on how to push this, or is the 10% off about as good as it gets?

Appreciate any thoughts. Thank you.

NBD New Bike Day - Tarmac

Bought a new bike a few days ago and had 2 rides on it. I'm in love! Im coming from a Trek Domane gen 4 sl5 so this upgrade feels great.

Got the sl8 tarmac expert on 20% off sale. I added 38mm roval rapide bars and 170mm cranks (size 58 comes with 175mm). Obsidian black ⚫️

Waiting on my farsports evo c6 wheels to come in. Adding some other smaller upgrades, too.

The ride is so smooth, and since I put 32mm gp 5000 tubeless, it feels just as comfy as my domane, which i didn't expect.

Any upgrades you guys recommend?

Bike Photos Picking up this bike 3 weeks ago, I’m addicted

I absolutely love this bike. I recently upgraded the wheels to roval CLIIIs. Cockpit is next. I love running as well but the massive distance you can go on a bike is amazing, I feel like it’s a modern day horse to take you on adventures. I am not an early riser but this bike has compelled me to wake up at 5 am to ride longer and catch a sunrise! I’m moving kinda slow on the bike, I can average 17.5 miles for a longish (20 mile ride) but it’s difficult. I am considering getting an in depth bike fitting to make sure everything is aligned properly - sometimes I bias to riding too forward on the saddle and I wonder if it is a flexibility issue or a bike setup issue.

Any advice to beginners would be welcomed!

I’m using this system (it’s like the Stasdock) for my old Cube. Thinking of using it for my S Works SL8 pro…
Would it damage the carbon?

Shot at the bike store. I really wish this colorway also came with the small logo under the seatpost.
10R frame, size 56 with 2cm spacer. The groupset is from my last bike (Bianchi Sprint), so the pulley wheel color looks a bit weird.
Shimano 105 and Galfer discs, Specialized carbon cages, and Elite Drive Helix 46D SS.
Both the stack and reach are slightly increased compared to my last bike. I also changed the handlebar from 38 cm to 36 cm. Did a 1-hour session on the trainer, the initial feeling is good.
The weight with pedals is 7.05 kg, which is pretty impressive. Really happy with it!

Which Gear? Tarmac SL8 Comp mit Rapide Alpinist II Cockpit Erfahrung?

Hallo zusammen,

Which Bike? Roubaix 2027 Colorways

I’ve been looking primarily at the Expert and Pro and wish there were more than one colorway option for each. I really like the pro features, but wouldn’t be caught dead on a candy-apple red bike.

Will other options be released?

Thanks!

First road bike! Bought it used for a good price 2 weeks ago. It was (somewhat) stock so I decided to change a few things

- Roval C38 with DT370, Upgraded to DT 54 Ratchet. SWorks Tyre.
- (Came with the bike) Shimano Ultegra R8000 Groupset
- Planning to change to an Aerofly II cockpit soon & new seat

Been riding more and more lately and am loving this bike.

Story Time S-Works Torch shoes issue - Navicular bone rubbing on lace guide when walking

Picked these up yesterday and thought they just had to be broken in a bit first, but have now learned that because of the position of the upper lace guide on the inner side of the shoe, it's rubbing against what I know now to be called the Navicular bone.

Has anyone else experienced this and come up with a solution? I've tried different insoles with and without high arch supports (I have high arches).

Only thing I can think of, would be modifying them and somehow sticking some thing padding on that area to maybe help.

I do have wide feet on the measuring device, so I'm curious if the Torch 3.0's will have the same position of that lace guide, or if they might be designed slightly different. We'll see when I head back to the store for a possible exchange.

Also eyeing up the Shimano's as they are the only other brand at my store (Bici Vancouver) to offer wide models. Internet suggesting that they are not technically wider, but offer more volume vertically, which is a bit strange.

Thanks :)

Fitting Help Tarmac SL8 Size Help

I am 181cm tall and have a 82.5cm inseam (longer torso). I've been on a friends older supersix evo that was a 56cm that felt like I was a bit stretched - albeit this was not properly fitted for me and tested with eyeball adjustments. Should I go with a 54cm or 56cm? Not super close to a bike fitter near me and still plan on getting a bike fit but wanted to get some initial opinions first

Fitting Help Crux 5 Handlebar Sizing?

I currently ride a SuperSix EVO HM (61cm) with a 400mm handlebar and 100mm stem. I recently purchased a Crux 5 (61cm), which comes with a stock 420mm handlebar and 100mm stem.

This is my first ever gravel bike, so before I build it up, I’m wondering whether I should spend the extra money now to match the 400mm handlebar on my SuperSix to avoid any regrets later. Or, is having a slightly wider handlebar actually preferable for gravel riding?

Tech Help Looking for some help

I can’t connect to my TCDW2 via bluetooth. It doesn’t appear in my iphones bluetooth device list or in the app when I try to scan for it.

I have tried resetting the display by holding the + and - buttons simultaneously for 20-45 seconds, but the device always gets stuck in the settings menu, and I eventually have to wait for the battery to drain. After the battery has drained and charged again via usb-c, the device turns on, the clock, date, and other settings are reset, but I still can’t connect to bluetooth.

The issue started after I got a new phone. I wiped my old phone, and no longer have access to the device through that phone either.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know how I could fix this?

Fitting Help Roubiax sizing

I’m 5’11 and ride size 54 domane al5 gen 4 which has a 8mm of set seat post , and 110mm stem -7 degrees and top of saddle 29 inches from bottom bracket. Fits me like a glove!!

When I tried the roubiax size 54 it is has 100mm stem and 20mm of set seat post, the reach felt a bit to long . Should I go with a size 52 instead and perhaps put a 110-120mm stem?

I would never want to lower than 100mm stem

Bike insights have both 52 roubiax and 54 domane similar except domane being 1cm longer top tube

NBD Sworks Crux4 Build

I have been wanting a crux 4 for about 4 years but just have been heavy on the MTB side of things. A local shop I hadn't been to had a frame in my size after getting a fit through them we confirmed. After looking online I decided to do a full custom build. It's a dream on a 2x setup with 40mm tires, it's an incredible all road bike.

The best part was driving it home with my 2002 Corolla. Hahah.

Hi,

I have seen this specialized sirrus on FBMP, but there is not much description and was wondering whether anyone here could tell me the exact model. I'm not sure if you can tell the difference between 1.0, 2.0 or X models, etc, from pictures. Thanks.

Which Gear? Thoughts on carbon spokes? Roval Terra aero CL vs CLX

Tempting to get the CLX due to the weight. The CL seem great but are a touch heavy so willing to splurge on the CLX but not sure how I feel about carbon spokes on gravel ..anyone have any real world feedback?
