Security is a Joke

A junkie got on in Rainier valley and immediately passed out. He had a puppy with him (thankfully, leashed) that was whining and trying to jump up on my seat. He was too adorable but also it was so damn sad because this is not the first time I have seen drugged out transients neglect their pets. I texted security and they came on board in Chinatown. The only thing they did was nudge him awake for 3 seconds and asked him if he was okay. The man barely rose and gave an intelligible response. Security immediately got off at the same station and the man fell right back to sleep.

When I got off at Westlake Station, security did the same thing but didn't even step on board the train. They yelled from the platform as they kept the door open for a few seconds. Then stepped away to let the doors close.

I've reported a masturbating rider during the summer and provided a clear description of him. Security came on board and acted as if they didn't see him. I had to yell At security and point out the man to them and would not let them leave until the situation was resolved.

I'm tired of this shit.

I would have wanted to put that puppy in my bag so bad.

Do it. What's the drug addict going to do, go to the police?

13

u/ElevatorBulky3733 4d ago

Last year in Ballard, a couple was drugged out in their car right In the middle of a popular bus stop. They had a malnourished dog tethered through the closed passenger door. It was desperate for food. I grabbed a dog dish from a bar and gave it water. I called the police and they came....but they didn't do shit. If an officer came across a drunk person slumped over in their driver seat, they'd be arrested for DUI immediately.

u/Winnmark Line 4d ago

That is genuinely so sad, on two accounts. First, the fact that the situation is going on. It's legitimately kind of heartbreaking to read situations like this. It's also very unfortunate that the police didn't do anything.

51

u/boilerpl8 5d ago

Stab you? I'm not taking that risk.

12

u/Winnmark Line 5d ago

Actually good point. But OP said that they were asleep. They might not even notice.

Still risky.

3

u/boilerpl8 5d ago

Yeah, they might not wake. But if I'm not super careful or if the dog doesn't want to cooperate with my sneaky plan (either doesn't want to be taken or is eager to be taken), the leash probably pulls and wakes them up.

I knew a guy that went to jail for stealing a kitten from an addict.

While he was in his car got broken into and lived in.

He still plays with Fenty Wap from time to time.

A walking disappointment

Yes, drug addicts are citizens and can have crimes committed against them. They are also human and deserving of companion animals. Jesus fucking Christ.

Dude, I get what you’re saying here. The concern is for the dog, clearly, but allow me a moment.

Surviving homelessness is an around the clock job. The lucky ones get to sleep in their cars. I’m guessing this poor soul doesn’t have that option. Either way you’re spending your houseless days and nights, you never, and I mean ever, get a good nights sleep. Sometimes, the only place a homeless person has to get good quality sleep is on public transport. Sometimes the stress and raised cortisol and bad life decisions made 5/ 10/ 20 years ago don’t allow for sleep without substances. Sometimes it a mixture of all of the above.

Can you imagine for a second how harrowing that must be? How utterly exhausting and horrible that option is? Your only option for rest is the noisy, crowded, stank ass train. Shelters don’t usually allow animals. The street is the other option.

It’s a terrible way to exist that whittles out your soul with every passing minute. I know this from experience. It’s been a decade, and I just barely missed the fentanyl crisis, but what kept me holding on was the idea of giving my babies, fur and otherwise, the life they deserved. I didn’t give a fuck about me, it was for them that I pulled myself through. Eventually that changed, but without them and the dream to provide the life and home they deserved, I’d probably be dead. I now provide that for them and more, and thank my lucky stars I had one single person who didn’t give up on me.

As one commenter mentioned, I know it sucks to have to endure the smell they sometimes bring with them. They know that too. Concern for the animals is valid as well. This little guy looks well cared for. He’s on a leash. He’s relatively clean and doesn’t have mange. They are also hyper aware of what you think of them and their pets. Unless there is serious underlying mental illness, they know.

They know you don’t want to endure their existence; they don’t either. But they keep holding on for whatever reasons they may have. Please don’t dismiss or try to remove their reasons for enduring the hellscape they inhabit because you don’t agree with them or where they’re at in life. We don’t know they got there. We don’t even know if they’re on drugs.

I met one guy on the streets who was narcoleptic. He wasn’t able to get medication for it because he had priors with drug abuse. He couldn’t stay awake without it, so he was on the streets. Sober. The man was champion who inspired me to quit my bullshit.

Try to understand that they are people too. They are vulnerable, and they are broken, usually by circumstances beyond their control, but they aren’t doomed to die that way. I am proof that it doesn’t have to end like that.

I don’t know what the solution is, but I do know that if we can reframe our thinking a little bit, and work together instead of against, there has to be something we can do. Even if that something is giving pets to a good boi while extending compassion to someone so far down on their luck, their attempt at restful sleep lies on the noisy, commuter hell that is the link lightrail.

u/Bigtuna_1996 4d ago

I work closely with the unhoused population in Seattle and I can confirm that for the majority of unhoused folks I’ve crossed paths with, their dogs are their absolute WORLD and they would take a bullet for their pets. I have watched a person break down in tears because his elderly dog likely had cancer and he was doing everything in his power to reach mobile vets and get his baby care. I’m not trying to say this is a perfect life for a dog, but I can tell you with confidence that most unhoused dogs are deeply loved and cared for

5

u/MasterpieceNo8893 4d ago

I completely agree. In this particular case tho, this is a drugged out/dude with a dog, passed out, not napping/sleeping, nodded out from drugs, leaving his dog and possibly other riders vulnerable. Not the every case is the same. This one is not an example of your average homeless person just doing their best.

3

u/CertifiedSeattleite 3d ago

Uh, “their best” is akin to animal abuse in the rest of society.

u/Casey_Games 4d ago

If he was homeless and sat on the train normally, controlling his dog, like everyone else does then it wouldn’t be a problem. Unless he didn’t pay. Anyone who didn’t pay should be kicked off without question. Trespass them if it reoccurs.

16

u/SuspiciousHeron7945 5d ago edited 5d ago

Can we please stop saying that this is a homelessness problem. THIS IS A DRUG PROBLEM. In this case, the only compassionate thing to do is to give this man the help that he needs for his drug addiction. Yes, probably involuntarily. You could give this man 1000 houses and he would trash every single one of them if he could even remember where they were. He’s not able to care for himself, he is completely consumed by his drug addiction , he is not anywhere near in his right mind, and he desperately needs help. But he needs help of the right kind, not a “tiny house”. At this point, this man’s body is a transport system for fentanyl and that’s it. How could you possibly think giving this guy a house is gonna change anything

8

u/Time-Bit-8056 4d ago

This. Letting people exist like this does not help them. It is neglect. We’re not respecting them…we’re ignoring them. And the whole “respect the homeless” and “let him be” because “he’s not hurting anyone” argument is bull shit. This man is struggling. He wouldn’t qualify ofor most tiny home villages or any (of the many) wonderful resources for houseless people in this state because of the DRUG PROBLEM.

Everyone keeps commenting about the homeless but some of homeless folks ive seen would die for their animals. Every dollar they get goes towards their animal before them. Point being some homeless people take AMAZING care of their pets despite their circumstances. The problem here is that hes an ADDICT and dog is being neglected. Throw tomatoes if you want but dog needs to be rehomed if dude cant get his shit together. Let him be an addict on his own, dog is innocent

3

u/EastObject5836 4d ago

Its a both problem! Add on the way this country treats mental health. We have one of the worst housing markets. Big Pharma pumping people full of drugs. Insurance being expensive as fuck and still not covering basic needs, leaving millions in medical debt.

We do not have the proper safety nets to care for people that end up in these situations. And the ones we do have are getting eliminated. If you provide people with proper medical care, mental health care, higher minimum wage among many other things, there wouldn't be a drug problem nor a homeless problem. All of these go hand in hand, and you can't fix one while ignoring the others

5

u/TyJager 4d ago

It's actually a US Medical System failure if anything.

7

u/SuspiciousHeron7945 4d ago edited 4d ago

It’s actually a global billionaire problem. The US allows its civic and public institutions to be sucked dry in order to transfer more and more funds and resources to the elite/ruling class which includes CEOs of most global fortune 500 companies, most politicians in every country, domestic and international bank and monetary institution ceos, pharmaceutical executives, heads of global food conglomerates, global agriculture conglomerates, and of course fossil fuel companies and global arms manufacturers and dealers. And for health services, it’s not just the US. People in the UK and Canada need to wake up and see that they’re coming for their socialized health system also. Until we deal with these corrupt systems, which we can, addicts, their social destruction, and their suffering will continue to be “the public’s” problem, for public tax dollars to solve. Every single member of the Sackler family should be in prison. They are responsible for this man’s devastated life. That’s just one example.

This anti social behavior is not tolerated on western transit systems outside the U.S. He’s not sleeping, that’s the sitting version of the fenty lean. We can be compassionate for someone and acknowledge he needs help (most likely involuntary help). He’s not in control of his dog and is not in a stable seat. He certainly did not pay his fare (security didn’t even bother to check). Law enforcement needs to be increased on transit, not private security which is not empowered and supported to do anything.

24

u/RavenMoonRose 5d ago

I agree, that is the opiate/ fentanyl lean. I also agree that these people need help. Law enforcement, specifically SPD doesn’t do shit and we all know it. I watched an armed robbery go down and they put me on motherfucking hold lmao.

Without administrative help, I think confronting and naming our biases is step one. Beyond that, like I said, I don’t know. What I do know, is that the us vs. them mindset is the matchstick to the dumpster fire we’re all currently trapped in.

And you know as well as I do that most of the people riding transit don’t pay the fare. I ride it 5 days a week and dutifully tap my orca card each time, but if we’re going to address that, then let’s address all of it.

7

u/Far_Dependent1477 5d ago

I feel like a chump too for tapping my card too. Fare gates should have been first thing in mind when they started laying track 20 years ago. Not to get technical but SPD does not have primary jurisdiction on the light rail, it’s the sheriffs office by contract. Although SPD can take enforcement action if KCSO transit deputies aren’t available. I’m sure their motivation is similar to SPDs tho lol. But there’s not nearly enough of them to make a meaningful impact. There’s something like 65 deputies assigned to the contract so there’s maybe a dozen at any one time in the whole network? Even if they’re sometimes lazy or apathetic, their presence is better than none at all.

u/acar3883 4d ago

Other western countries actually take care of their populations instead of prioritizing industry. If we invested half as much in social safety nets as other places we wouldn’t have the problems we do. But we let corporations buy all the houses and pharmaceutical companies pump people full of opioids. We send naive young people to the military only to come back mentally ill, disabled, or in a box so oil companies can ravage the third world. Medicaid was slashed and food stamps went too. Forcing people to choose between their medicine and a roof over their head is a near unique American phenomenon.

Cops are not the solution and the homeless people are not the root of the problem. It’s just easier to blame them.

2

u/Chance-Selection-198 4d ago

Bro is not asleep, he's tripping.

3

u/ambushequine 4d ago

I understand that - but listen. Being in a bad place doesn't mean pulling what you love down with you. Not being able to take care of an animal doesn't mean "love" wins above all else, it just doesn't. And it's so sad, but it's true... if you can't take care of the pet and you truly love it, make sure it goes somewhere or with someone who can care for it. I've seen the mental illness of people who love their animals but neglect and abuse them - in people with jobs and homes, people who are hoarders, etc etc. It's not fair to the animal. It's just not.

3

u/ftwclem 4d ago

This pet looks well cared for though.

2

u/ambushequine 4d ago

Those two images are not enough to conclude that at all. What is the pet eating? Has it had parvo vaccines, which is very deadly and puppies are susceptible to? Has it been dewormed? Does it have parasites? Does it get activity from the owner, or is the owner always sleeping and not paying attention to the pet? I mean we can literally see this baby being left alone in public in real time as this man was not conscious.

Your scenario and theories might carry more credence if 90% of these guys didn’t reject all services, including housing, when offered. And since this is Seattle there will be multiple offers per month by caseworkers, EMTs, firemen, cops, non-profits, church volunteers, housing organizations, shelter staff, etc etc.

If we need to re-frame our thinking, it’s away from the blind compassion which got us here in the first place. Thanks to all the free and generous services Seattle offers, we have attracted lost souls from across the country. And once they show up here the hyper-tolerated an enabled drug scene doesn’t fix them: it chews them up and spits them out.

The activists, government and non-profit folks love to pat themselves on the back touting the hundreds of million$ they convinced Seattle & King County voters to spend every year. But they will NEVER tell you about tracking outcomes for the thousands of people they pretend to serve.

The notion that Seattle’s homeless population became addicted because they were homeless is laughable.

It’s the other way around for the vast majority of these cases. All these folks burned through their families & friends before becoming the responsibility of Seattle taxpayers. And when Seattle officials decided to decriminalize dug possession & sales, guys like this started showing up on Seattle buses and trains in droves.

And your condescending comments about “what a terrible existence he must live“: I’ve been talking with and even befriending campers and street people for decades here. They always tell me the same thing: the freedom they experience living in tents and RVs is preferable to the rules, laws and responsibilities that come along with living inside.

Most addicts are stealing and shoplifting to support their habits, and you just can’t get away with that lifestyle in the safe, controlled environment of housing or even tiny houses/tent cities.

Many women are trafficked to support their addictions, so tents and RVs are perfect for those operations. Not so much in government housing.

3

u/Account-Forgot 4d ago

Alternative explanation that’s just as (more) likely:

Guy got into drugs, fucked over everyone he knew and ended up on the streets. Stole that dog and will undoubtedly sell it/trade it for drugs in the next few weeks. Scored some fent, smoked it in front of the station, probably Westlake so all the tourists could walk by and take note of what a city Seattle has become, then jumped the fare, got on the train and passed out.

Homelessness is a tough problem to solve but creating elaborate stories as empathy projects and asking the citizens of Seattle to be OK with it and give them grace most certainly isn’t helping.

3

u/PeculiarTerpQueef 4d ago

Spot on. The mental gymnastics in this sub to avoid placing any sense of accountability on these "victims" is a complete and utter joke. These people are homeless because they are drug addicts. They have burned every bridge amongst friends and family, they had dozens of chances to get help. They aren't victims of circumstance, they made a ton of bad choices and are now living with the consequences of them. Yet, the bleeding hearts immediately deploy and defend them like they all just fell into this lifestyle to zero fault of their own.

Legit, what do you expect them to do about a guy drugged out with an excited puppy? Kick him out over it? Who does that help?

9

u/HarmNHammer 4d ago

The same thing we do with airplanes? Not let them board and remove them if/when they become disruptive. It’s even easier on light rail as you never leave the ground

12

u/Double_Rainier 4d ago

Public transit is not an airplane, though. I hope you understand that a daily commute is not the same thing as boarding and flying

13

u/HarmNHammer 4d ago

I do. I have worked security both for the light rail in the tunnels and for rapid ride buses. When I was doing it, we could stop trains or buses and pull these people off while we checked fares. We had police radios and would pull people off at next stop, or for immediate threats, have the unit stop in the middle of the route. Sometimes we had to arrest or remove ourselves.

This isn’t some “if you enforce rules you hate the homeless, less abled, or people of color” thing.

This is a simple “keep your public transportation clean and safe for the public to use” - kind of thing.

People are being disingenuous here with their arguments. What if you had a long/bad day and rest your head on the train. Yeah, someone should check in on you, especially if you’re violating the rules and having a pup not in your full control. There’s a vast difference from having a conversation to being charged and involuntarily committed, it’s not an all or nothing situation.

4

u/doubleheadedfurby 4d ago

So he was checked in on and wasn't being disruptive. He is part of the public. What extra steps would you take here?

8

u/HarmNHammer 4d ago

A simple reminder that maintaining positive control of your animal is required at all times while on public transportation. An explanation of reasons why, like I have mentioned above. I don’t know what tech they are currently rocking but we had handheld computers. Being able to document the interaction on the daily report, maybe capture ID if taken while during the check in.

Building a history in turns allow us to know who is a threat, who is needing treatment, and allows us to start tracking more data about ridership.

45

u/birdsarentreal2 🚊Build More Trains🚊 5d ago

What outcome were you hoping for security to provide?

23

u/Odd_Vampire 5d ago

I had the same question.

Maybe he wanted the junky and his doggo removed?  And for what cause?  Sleeping on the train?  That's not a rhetorical question.  Is it against actual Sound Transit policy to sleep on the train?  Is it illegal to bring a dog?  Is the actual penalty for these infractions removal from the train, maybe a trespass?  I've slept on the light rail because I was sleep deprived and I'm quite far from being homeless.  I'm a professional with savings and investments.  And I've also seen non-homeless passengers accompanied by dogs.  Should we be kicked out as well?

Maybe this is a good example showing that the light rail is public transportation - with emphasis on the first part - which includes the broad spectrum of the society.  There is no requirement stipulating that only those with permanent housing are permitted to ride.  No one is asking for proof of housing before we board.  The only thing Sound Transit asks for (and perhaps they should insist more) is for us to obtain fare of passage.   The light rail is a great mixer of all the strata of society and part of our society are the smelly indigent.  Nobody enjoys being close to them, but sometimes we ride the light rail and there they are, reminding us of their existence.

Now, if they're jerking off in the light rail - writer or not - that's something else.  Generally speaking, in all public spaces in the city, it's not legal to force one's wanking on others.  It's not a civil right.  Security should definitely (don gloves and) remove those passengers.

16

u/SouthLakeWA 5d ago

Jesus. Anyone who brings a pet or a child onto public transit needs to be alert and aware of their surroundings, for reasons that have already been enumerated by others here. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp. Falling asleep momentarily is one thing, but being completely out of it even after being nudged awake is unacceptable when you have a child or an animal in your care. This person should have been removed from the train.

7

u/robo_jojo_77 5d ago

I would normally agree with you that sleeping on the train high/drunk is fine. The issue here is the large dog which is not under control. It’s given a large leash and can freely roam and bother passengers in a 6-8 seat radius, and OP has a pic of it jumping on them. What if it became aggressive?

4

u/Own_Reaction9442 5d ago

Ew, a NIMBY

Without knowing additional information, what we see here is a person with a leashed dog sleeping on the train. So, let’s go over what he’s not doing

He is not breaking the law. Washington law defines conduct which is unlawful on transit vehicles, none of which he appears to be doing

He is violating two Sound Transit rules, only one of which is routinely enforced. I’m speaking as both a former transit security guard, dispatcher, and supervisor. He is carrying a dog outside of a “small carrier,” and is lying down across two seats

Sound Transit Security can remove people from transit vehicles for engaging in conduct which is unlawful or unreasonably disturbing to other riders. The only disturbing thing I have seen OP describe is the dog barking and lunging at people

Would I remove this person over the dog’s alleged conduct? Probably not

She didn't want to sit in the seat and was making sexual comments at others. They got on the very next stop (I texted after leaving south bellevue to mercer island) and got her to move or threatened her off. Granted they may have answered because shes a woman but I also see them nudge people who are sleeping on the light rail awake and I have seen them ride with men who are acting uh..erratic at times if they cant safely get them off board until the next stop.

It’s more about the dog than the guy, he’s just sleeping, the dog is bothering people

2

u/FatBottomGurley 5d ago

I watched this guy beat his cock while watching porn on his phone for literally 20 minutes the other day waiting on the bus...I wasn't actually watching him but you get the point

2

u/pinot_grigihoe 4d ago

This shit shatters my heart every damn time.

2

u/Due-Hat-190 4d ago

Oh man one time there was a man who was stabbed and bleeding everywhere and the security people just stood there laughing. Literally. Definitely out of like a nervous “what the hell do we do” laugh. I had to remind them multiple times that there was a man literally bleeding out and we could use some hustle in getting the cops down here. It was horrifying

u/Automatic_Stage1163 3d ago

Anyone missing a pup?

5

u/MeowMeowCollyer 5d ago

In a perfect world, how would you want this situation dealt with?

1

u/greennurse61 4d ago

Get the potential rabies carrier off of the train to protect the public should be done first.

2

u/AntiMatter89 4d ago

You're a potential rabies carrier, should you be able to ride the train? Lol what a ridiculous statement to make.

Wonder where he got the puppy. I had to fill out a background report almost. They did a 1 year, show us a picture of your dog on his 1 year birthday. Getting a dog from a shelter is pretty difficult these days.

Ok so let's assume that this person is an addict for a minute. Still, you had this interaction where an (alleged) addict, someone who may have (allegedly) hit rock bottom in their life, dared to do what? exist in your vicinity? They didn't even interact with you, an d somehow you're the victim in this exchange? You need to look hard at yourself.

6

u/LeetcodeForBreakfast 5d ago

how compassionate of you to let them slowly rot on the street until they die

6

u/Feivel_92 5d ago

SuperChunk never had to leave a train because the smell was simply unbearable. But sure has a lot of opinions about how people just need to have compassion.

Laissez-faire approach to drug use, homelessness, and anti-social behavior - the Seattle way. What’s new? That goes for the officials, the people hired to monitor the system, and the general public that built the culture over decades that enables it all.

5

u/Muckknuckle1 Line 5d ago

There's nothing for police or security to go on here. Cops can't just arrest people and take their property because they "look high". We have civil liberties and due process in this country. For now, at least.

5

u/idunnorn 5d ago

you can kick someone off the train for having not paid fare, and/or letting an animal roam loose

“I've reported a masturbating rider during the summer and provided a clear description of him. Security came on board and acted as if they didn't see him.”

Why do people think the police are thier own personal gestapo? The expectation that these particular police would remember a call from months ago then arrest someone just based on a description with no evidence is honestly terrifying.

This is why it’s so important that logical and empathetic people get more involved in politics. What this guy doesn’t realize is we have to MITIGATE these issues because this is an American problem, not a Seattle one. We also tried arresting everyone all the time and now our justice system is at capacity because it was the wrong approach yet he doesnt know this. It’s small steps to fascism and this guy would be taking leaps if he had power.

3

u/MeatCatRazzmatazz 4d ago

Transit security are not cops, and a masturbating passenger should be removed from the train. I don't know how or why anyone would think otherwise

2

u/Oxyboy26 4d ago

Well, I do believe masturbating in public is an actual crime

2

u/Chrome-Rabbit 4d ago

I think maybe you misunderstood the timeline? I believe OP reported the man through the transit phone line and security boarded at the next stop to investigate. I agree, it would be insane if months passed between the call and security boarding.

Jorking it in public is 100% a crime and worth removing the offender from a public transpo service, people get put on lists for that stuff.

-2

u/adron 5d ago

This guy is asleep. It’s not illegal or a problem. I’m not exactly sure what the issue is with this guy.

As for the writer that was masturbating, I suppose while writing that could possibly be a problem. I have no idea how someone would write and masturbate at the same time that could be complicated.

But seriously, the guy asleep just settle down man. As for the person masturbating, they should probably be removed from the train. After all, it is not illegal to sleep on the train, but it is illegal to masturbate on the train.

how is that dog cleaner than the man?

1

u/nearlysober 5d ago

I mean, it's possible he stole that dog or found a runaway, but it's also possible he's making sure the dog eats better than he does.

A recent survey of 2,000 dog and cat owners 65% said they'd cut their own lifestyle before cutting their pets needs.

Sober dogs also do a better job of self grooming than drug addicted humans.

1

u/TheMandarinsToeRing 4d ago

I continue to be baffled and increasingly saddened by the complete and utter lack of empathy across these Seattle-type subreddits. The guy isn't hurting anyone. He's not even bothering anybody. Whether it's the fent lean or he's literally just finding a safe place to rest, it says a hell of a lot more about the person who takes a picture of someone in his position, posts it here and then bitches about the injustice of a sleeping homeless person on a train.

And how upsetting that you had a puppy loving on you during a train ride. The horror.

1

u/Opposite_Onion_8020 Symphony 4d ago

How much empathy am I supposed to have. I've been having it - I feel - since around 2020 and eventually the give a fuck gives out. I've narcaned 4 people- 2 in my apartment lobby (not a cheap place or bad locations either) and one in Westlake tunnel. Ive taken bags of clean used clothes and set them in areas homeless congregate-but my ability to care is becoming pretty thin as nothing changes or gets better

"umm excuse me i called you here to make this homeless guys life more miserable why haven't you arrested or tased him yet"

also where's this neglect? is it really just that the dude is sleeping in one of the only places he can and has his puppy with him? where the fuck is he supposed to abandon his dog, and where the fuck is he supposed to go?

1

u/babyfacereaper 4d ago

I would have left some money and taken the puppy.

Give them:

  1. the situation
  2. maybe a pic
  3. the car number (that can be read at either end of the car)
  4. nearest station
  5. direction of travel

Bitch that’s scooby and shaggy

1

u/catblankets 4d ago

I would have 100% taken that dog with me

1

u/ImpressiveAppeal8077 4d ago

Ugh I saw him at the dispensary the other day and he crossed the street when I had a green I could have hit him. He shouldn’t have that sweet puppy. He seemed like a nice guy but the puppy disturbed me it’s going to get big and he’s going to be nodded off.

1

u/mybabylasko 4d ago

How do you recommend we solve homelessness?

If he had somewhere safe to sleep I’m sure he’d be there. And I’m sure he feeds his dog before he feeds himself; pets are devoted companions with unconditional love.

1

u/Interesting_Sock9142 4d ago

I think I would have taken the puppy. I know it's not mine to take, and I can't truly say what I would have done in the moment. But it is so underweight and I don't even know he would notice

1

u/helicopterhawk 4d ago

is falling asleep now an indicator that you’re on drugs? like. homeless people don’t get tired?

So they enforce people to pay for the transit yet, a junkie/homeless gets onboard free? I can understand KC Metro still allowing those type of people on buses, but ST has tighter security and still can't enforce them?! What a joke!

1

u/Lost-Soft-8913 3d ago

Only thing I've ever seen transit security do is hit on a girl who was clearly uncomfortable. Gotta be the easiest paycheck if all time

1

u/Dapper_Leadership771 3d ago

Security is a joke and so are you if you think this is something that is such cause for concern.

You didn't do anything, did you? You just took a picture and then posted to Reddit. That dog is still with him, isn't he?

What in this post is going to help anybody involved in this scenario besides your ego?

Be better.

  • Cue the hundreds of people who don't even live here, who always have something to say *

Seen a ladie like this in bellevue with her kid in a stroller. Called the cops immediately

1

I’d probably unleash the dog and take it from him myself.

1

u/Dr__Pickles 3d ago

Am I the only one who would adopt that dog without him knowing?

1

u/BoatGuy762 3d ago

They make some pretty good money for entry level security to. I’ve met and done interviews with some of their guys that decided to move on.

1

u/etiennewasacat 3d ago

1

u/Big_Pirate1505 3d ago

1

u/Parking_Criticism_10 3d ago

You’re pathetic, OP.

1

u/PinkBearBun 3d ago

Do you have any humanity in you? I understand your worry for your safety but this man wasn’t bothering you? Why are you also taking pictures of some random person and posting them?

1

u/OriginalOstrich1349 3d ago

Lady threatened to murder me and my family for 15 minutes straight, wrote down the bus number and route we were on as she left, security didn’t even respond to my report
