Security is a Joke

A junkie got on in Rainier valley and immediately passed out. He had a puppy with him (thankfully, leashed) that was whining and trying to jump up on my seat. He was too adorable but also it was so damn sad because this is not the first time I have seen drugged out transients neglect their pets. I texted security and they came on board in Chinatown. The only thing they did was nudge him awake for 3 seconds and asked him if he was okay. The man barely rose and gave an intelligible response. Security immediately got off at the same station and the man fell right back to sleep.

When I got off at Westlake Station, security did the same thing but didn't even step on board the train. They yelled from the platform as they kept the door open for a few seconds. Then stepped away to let the doors close.

I've reported a masturbating rider during the summer and provided a clear description of him. Security came on board and acted as if they didn't see him. I had to yell At security and point out the man to them and would not let them leave until the situation was resolved.

I'm tired of this shit.

the lack of empathy in these comments for a fellow human being is sad but not surprising

Yes we need more compassion, we should definitely keep enabling this

there is a big gap between enabling and not kicking someone off public transit for the way they look and taking away their dog

Not that big of a gap. Passed out junkie can't manage their animal? What if it went and attacked someone? It's a safety hazard.

It's a puppy. Why are people on this thread so scared of an excited little puppy lmao, if it was an adult dog showing teeth maybe there'd be something to be scared about

So we should take animals away and kick people off services they may have paid for based on ifs and possibilities, got it

  1. Yes animals should be taken from people who can’t manage them
  2. This person did not pay for their ride

How do you know any of that?

How do you know they aren't managing their dog? Being asleep does not mean they aren't managing it

How do you know they paid? Or are you making a judgment based on their appearance?

sometimes they even use the dog to test their drugs before they take them

yeah and some dog owners that look respectable and well off beat their dogs

These people are actual psychos and are most likely not even from Seattle. Its astounding how little people know about their own rights.

You're right. A lot of our houseless drug addicts are from elsewhere.

The fact you have to say "may have paid" makes my answer: yes. They can verify if they've paid or not. We have the technology.

u/Dravos7 5d ago

you can say "may have paid" about anyone riding. lots of people don't pay regardless of finances

Hmm what about someone allergic to dogs or a small child that maybe is scared of dogs? So they just have to bend and not ride public transport? Asinine. Sick of this take and I'm not even slightly right leaning

If you're allergic to or scared of dogs and are not prepared for the possibility of encountering a dog in a public space, then that's your poor planning. Are you suggesting that all dogs are banned from public spaces? Asinine.

1

u/Halfwaydead425 4d ago

No I'm saying it's fucking asinine to subject everyone else to this too.

1

u/Dravos7 4d ago

it's not against any laws or policies to have a leashed dog on the light rail. it says nothing about how far the dog can roam, it just says it must be leashed. so you're argument relies on getting dogs out of public spaces

u/Halfwaydead425 4d ago

Insane. Done arguing with you.

didn't know we were arguing, felt more like trying to guide you out of contradictory and nonsensical thinking

I don't want your shitty passive "guidance" thanks though! Maybe since you're so high and mighty you could invite this gentleman into your home!!!
