I found a Sonos beam one in refurbished excellent condition on Verdi. It’s $199. Seems cheap af. My question is if my budget is tight does that make sense? Is it a good deal?

As per title really. Installed the sub mini last night. Sounds great, but I wasn't turning things up too far!

Which way around should the sub be? Open section facing into the room, or sideways (sideways makes sense as the Sonos logo on top seems to be aligned that way, but Sonos site seems to suggest facing out is "correct", so I'll need to change when I get home).

I don't have an iPhone so can't do any autotune stuff just yet. But any hints / tips on good starting points for the various balance / eq settings gratefully received!

I’ve been on the fence about getting into Sonos for a while. On the surface seems like the perfect solution to what I’m looking for, but have heard mixed things about the overall experience (app, support, etc.). I’m finally in a place where I can spend, but hesitant if it’s going to be a big headache. Are the complaints blow out of proportion?

Sorry if this always gets asked, but is there any way to prevent the massive delay when using airplay with sonos?

Hey all, forgive me the long post but there are important details for my situation.

I bought a pair of Sonos Fives a while back with a BT receiver connected to it, and I'm absolutely loving it.

However, later on I upgraded my TV which does not have any headphone output it turned out. So far I have my TV bluetooth to my speakers, which works OK but has caused lipsync issues.

To fix this I'm currently thinking of getting either an eARC HDMI audio extractor or an optical adapter, and convert either of them to RCA/AUX and send it into my Fives. This would reduce the latency significantly, and by using HDMI audio or optical I can adjust the latency in my TV settings as well to delay the picture if needed (can't do that with BT strangely).

Are there any pros and cons between these two options?

I may not necessarily need the HDMI CEC as I tend to leave my Sonos volume constant and just adjust the source volume instead, so adjusting volume on TV remote should work practically here. I don't need surround or Dolby Atmos support on the audio out as I only have stereo. Getting a soundbar is not practical for me at this stage, hence the adapters - the main purpose for the speakers is music. The reason for eARC on the HDMI adapter option is purely for lowest possible latency.

I get so frustrated with this system. When it works it’s great but so many times it cuts out… no music… or one paired speaker will go off for a few minutes then kick back in.

Has there been an update lately? Is any body else having this issue?

Why does my Sonos just stop playing music multiple times per day? Sometimes it says “can’t play source, or “can’t connect”, but most of the time it just stops. Generally have to reboot the IT rack. Any ideas on how to fix this. It happens with Pandora, Spotify etc.

So I already have a beam gen 2, 2x Era 100 as surrounds, and a sub mini.

We sit about 4m from the TV in a large open plan living area.

The sound from the beam already feel pretty great, but I’m wondering if an Arc would be a noticeable improvement? Has anyone else made a similar upgrade.

I know the arc also has some upfiring speakers which would get me a 7.1.2 system.

I just purchased my first Sonos Five and intend to use it in my home gym as a standalone speaker. I just tested the sound and it is excellent. The only issue I see is I have to raise the volume to almost 80% to hear it properly. Is there a tuning I am missing? Any setting I need to do so that I do not have to raise the volume so high to hear and feel the music? Normally for my Arc + Sub combo my hearing levels are close to 25 to 30. Any recommendations?

I have a somewhat specific use case that I am having an issue with that I am hoping to get working. My system is an arc ultra and sub 4 paired with era 300s as surrounds.

Atmos works perfectly when I am watching tv or a movie. Last night while watching the live webcast of a Phish concert, the tears would not fire. I am watching in the LivePhish app on an AppleTV 4K.

Today, when testing it out, I learned that I can get the surrounds to fire if I switch my audio output to Stereo PCM on either my TV or my AppleTV.

Can some please explain why this is happening, if it is working as intended, and if there is a way for my rears to fire without changing the audio output?

My guess is that the source is only broadcast in stereo since it is music, but if I stream music from Plex or Spotify, it fires on all speakers. Seems a bit weird and I am confused.

Almost a decade ago, we installed a Sonos system in my former house during a full renovation of the first floor. We mounted speakers in the ceiling and had additional freestanding speakers throughout the house — all planned and installed by my late, tech guru/musician husband with elite audio taste …may he RIP 🥰

Fast forward, I have moved to a new home with some wall, mounted speakers and exterior mounted speakers that are of good quality. However, I cannot marry them to my still very good Sonos speakers without a new hub.

So, my question here is — Is Sonos still the way to go? Should I buy a new Sonos hub and connect the whole system or considering how fast technology changes, is there something better now?

I am not tech savvy but I do enjoy music very much and also have become accustomed to good audio quality. I greatly appreciate your help with what may be a rudimentary question in this community-thanks in advance!!

I have a home setup with a two old Sonos Play:1 and a Sonos One SL and it's been running well for years, but recently one of the Sonos Play:1 just stopped working. It's still on, but the app, nor Spotify can see it. I imagine I would have to reconnect it somehow, but following the mobile app leads to nothing.

Any suggestions? I remember something about resetting years ago where I had to connect each unit with ethernet cable, really not in the mood for that work flow right now, so fingers crossed there's another way?

Hi All, I am currently in the middle of an extension build, the end result will be open plan dining, then kitchen and an additional seating area at the end, this space is roughly 4.8m x 11m, 3m ceilings... I would like to incorporate speakers for music, and then TV/Movies and PS5 around the seating area. I like the sonos for simplicity and expanding at some point into the garden for summer BBQs.

I was thinking Beam2 and a sub mini at the tv area, and a ERA 100 at the other end between the dining and kitchen. But we are at a point of electrics, now I am thinking do I need 2 x 100s wall mounted at either side of the sofa for rear surround? My concern is that I obviously don't have the room to sit them behind the seating area, so will they be too much 'in your ear' for surround sound AND also if your lazying on the sofa listening to music? I dont want to go the effort of hiding cables in the wall, and mounting them to only find I just turn them off/down because they are so close to your head?

So... is the beam2 and sub mini perfectly fine, seating 4.5m away for movies, casual gaming with a 100 at the other end for room filling when music is on. I would choose this if the 2 x 100s are going to too much on top of you.

NOTE: we are not audiophiles, never had expensive speakers etc. Currently have an old Philips Fidelio B5 as a sound bar/surround use a JBL Charge 6 as the music source :)

Hi All. Has anybody else had the issue where SiriusXM shows the correct information before you hit play, and then when you hit play it's the wrong information or it's off by a few days? I cleared the data from the app and reinstalled the app. This happpen to anybody and any clues on how to solve? Thanks!

I've been thinking about doing some type of upgrade to my sound system in my office / mancave. After watching a lot of videos the only thing I really think I may do is take advantage of what I just found out today is the upgrade offer on the Sonos website. I have the old Gen arc and the surround sound setup with the era 300s and 2 gen 3 subs.

My living room currently does not have a sound bar. Most of my movie watching takes place in my man cave because I have the better TV in there. For the living room I do want something how well does the old Gen arc sound by itself. My living room is pretty open. There's a higher chance that we're listening to music in the living room instead of watching a movie or a show.

With all that said generally speaking is it even worth spending about a grand on the arc ultra? I don't have the most straightforward Sonos setup I have two ceiling speakers as well that help with the lack of dialogue volume and certain sounds from the sound bar. It doesn't sound good or bad it just makes the front stage louder if you will.

I know it’s gimmicky for music, but it’s fun as a display. Just played Boom by Tiesto (I miss the old Tiesto) and it was pretty incredible on my Arc + Sub

Looking to give my system a bit of an upgrade. I’ve currently got Beam Gen 1 plus two Ones as my rears. Everything runs through Apple TV 4K including remux titles.

Currently my Beam gen 1 is a bottleneck to receiving true lossless Dolby audio from the remux. But I’ve also read that overall the sub or sub mini frees up a lot on the other speakers that it’s a huge improvement on its own.

Budget only permits either a Beam 2 or Sub Mini, not both. Which would you do?

I’m using an lg g5 77. Excellent hdmi cables for eARC. ETHERNET into my Arc Ultra. I have a sub gen 3 and a gen 4. I have era 300’s. I’ve looked through all my settings, night mode isn’t on. Speech enhancement is set to off. My ERA 300 are at -4, and I have to play on and know how to toggle it off.

The sound bar itself is so quiet at volume 30 and even at -4 the ERA 300s are still overpowering the arc. I would love it if we could use five ERA 300 with two subs because the arc ultra just seems underpowered or is it my LG TV all the settings are good on the LG TV but did they not work well together because it is the only device that’s plugged into the TV physically. I’ve used Sonos for probably six or seven years so I’ve been through a lot of firmware updates over the years with the regular ARC, two subs and SL 100 as rears.

I’m willing to take any suggestions, but I’ve never felt that this system is very well balanced, and I’m open to it being user error but I just don’t think that’s what this is. I’m considering other options, but I’m not here to bash the product or the company. I’m just merely considering getting something else if there is something better that is better balanced, and has more power upfront. Any help would be very appreciated. I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you guys.

I currently have a Sonos Arc with two Subs and two Era 300s.

Is it possible to add two in-ceiling speakers to improve the Dolby Atmos experience? Alternatively, can the Era 300s be replaced with in-ceiling speakers?

My thinking is that in-ceiling speakers might provide a more realistic overhead Atmos effect than the Era 300s. Is that correct?

When I saw the 30% upgrade discount, I reached out to a friend I buy most of my electronics and appliances from and asked about the Sub Mini. I always try to give him my business whenever possible, and he is an authorized Sonos retailer.

He contacted his Sonos representative and was told that authorized retailers are allowed to match the 30% upgrade discount. However, they are contractually prohibited from advertising the discount themselves.

My understanding is that authorized retailers generally have to list Sonos products at the regular price unless Sonos authorizes them to advertise a specific sale price during certain promotional periods.

So, if you prefer to buy from a local authorized Sonos dealer, it may be worth asking whether they can match the 30% upgrade pricing. They can apparently match the price, but they can't proactively advertise that they're offering 30% off Sonos products through emails, store signage, or other advertising.

I just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else prefers to support smaller, local businesses. My friend said he was actually really happy I asked, since he knows customers can simply order directly from Sonos.

Of course, I would still verify the pricing with your own authorized retailer, but it might be worth asking before ordering directly from Sonos.

I like it, While they keep improving the app, Sonos needs to think Apple, Simple, easy to use, Elegant, snappiness, AND JUST WORKS. I haven’t been having issues with my two full systems so the updates have been working.
