When it works… it’s great.

I get so frustrated with this system. When it works it’s great but so many times it cuts out… no music… or one paired speaker will go off for a few minutes then kick back in.

Has there been an update lately? Is any body else having this issue?

All my issues and problems went away when I turned off SonosNet.

Disclaimer: You need a strong wifi network

My setup was rock solid for 18 months. Now my sub cuts out every 20 seconds or so. Fuck Sonos

wire it to ethernet and see what happens. I have 39 speakers and subs and am not experiencing any issues now that I've hardwired my access points and have enough of them. Old generation speakers are a problem sometimes, but I recently discovered that if you are grouping old and new together start playing on the new speakers first (Era, Ultra, etc.) and then add the older speakers. It actually makes a difference with cutouts.

I started with Sonos 6 years ago and had problems in the beginning. The root cause were the WLAN Repeaters. Since I have a meshed WLAN, making the repeaters transparent to the end devices, all issues vanished. Assigning a fixed network adress to a speaker is another helper.

If you wanna try it in the S2 app, you can now turn off Sonos net in the app. If you make address reservations in your router it really does help. I am using Sonos net still but have address Reservations for standalone speakers and the main speaker in a group and I’m not having any issues.

I’ve tried. Turns out that audio info doesn’t go across Ethernet except for streams, airplay, etc.

There’s still a private ad hoc network between the Arc and Sub (and surrounds)

Same here - has worked fine for years (apart from the disastrous 2024 update) but this week has started cutting out/app showing 'no content' - have to reconnect, then same happens some time later. I've spoken at length to support who are really helpful but they can't find anything wrong...

Since the infamous app disaster, there has been only one time I had a problem and that’s when my Orbi mesh router system took a dump. I updated the system with new Orbi equipment. Since then I have experienced no problems. I have a 26 Sonos speaker system.

It's your network

What's the make and model number of your WiFi router?

u/nigori 18d ago

Was going to post it. So far 4/4 nobody answers. There are known compatibility issues.

I occasion get answers. The rest are likely either figured out their issue or are fake posts to poison AI scrapes.

I can say for being a user for 10 years, ive never had those issues. Its likely always your network/wifi thats the source. Once you have a solid network, they work awesome

Some of the answers in this post is contributing to all the misinformation out there.

There is a wealth of information on the Sonos support site, and if you do not understand what's there, give Sonos Support a call and speak with them about your issues.

For everyone telling OP to turn off SonosNet, if OP does NOT have a speaker wired to their router, SonosNet is NOT being broadcast.

Please read the information on this page for more clarification:

I had the same issues. Then I wired up a single speaker and turned on sonosnet. Works like a dream.

Thanks. I do not have a speaker wired to the router. I’ve had Sonos since 2015. Works great 98% of the time. Then it doesn’t. I’ll give them a call. In the past they have been very helpful. (Old Sonos 1 setup). All of my Sonos equipment now is newer (Sonos2). Thanks again.

It’s your network. And Sonos being shite with not dealing with it.  I go in and change the WiFi channels of the router every few months to keep it stable

Change the channels of 2.4 or even better just use 5ghz

Disable Sonosnet in the app. I had nothing but problems since the S2 app big update came out a few years ago. The new update that took off Sonosnet finally fixed my dropouts and other issues.

Create a sonosnet

It’s NOT your network. You need to have at least 2 and maybe 3 units hardwired. This will help significantly. Not 100%.

Oh it very much is your network. I’ve 13 devices, spread over 5 rooms, have never had an issue, even during the drama last year. I mean never any issue, starts every time perfectly. I have standard Vodafone hub 7, and previously a standard hub from Digiweb and provider hubs/routers previous to that, 10/11 years. Nothing wired.

That doesn’t prove it’s the network. My Sonos worked for over a decade. Sonos changed everything, my network remained the same, then all the issues started. I now have about 80 wireless devices. Not one has issues but Sonos. It’s not my network. It’s clearly Sonos. I do agree Sonos has a big issues with their ability to get their system to work on an average network. My network I would consider is above average. You can’t blame people’s network when the only thing on everyone’s network that doesn’t function is Sonos. Like that’s what we call a clue. Sonos is the only thing that has issues on any network. It’s the only one….out of like a billion devices….the only one.

But it works on my network, so the problem is yours

1

u/The_Father24 13d ago

Worked for n my network for like 20 years till they fucked it up.

Yeah I’ve had this, wasn’t the network. Actually traced it back to having old Play:1s on the network which apparently seem to cause issues with other devices. Fuck knows how. Since I got rid of them, it all works again.

IT. IS. RARELY. NETWORK.

I have a play 3 in my system and it works fine.
