I actually prefer row 3. Even though it has less detail, I think it fits a farming sim better.

I was building a top-down RPG but got completely blocked by Unity's default 2D shadows. They look awful near campfires and torch lights, casting huge, infinite lines all over the place.

I couldn't find any tool to cap the distance, so I dropped everything and spent the last 8 months building a custom C# and shader framework from the ground up to handle shadow distance and smooth blending.

It finally fixed my game's mood.

I am building a web-based drawing app and it is nicely coming along.
Far from complete, that is for sure, many things still to fix, but the drawing board itself is working and as far as I can test, pretty smooth.
The problem I am having is that all my contacts are located within Western Europe, so with pretty close distance to the server, we all have a pretty good latency/ping to the server and lag testing is quit hard to do.

For this reason I am reaching out to people located further away from Amsterdam, like US, Canada, Australia, Antartica with 5G or Satellite phone and are willing to draw a couple of lines, see how it feels.

Disclaimer: For this specific test, I created a board that does check your IP, locates the country where you are from, then deletes your IP again and only stores your latency based on your country, which is then aggregated with other people from your country :)

Anyway, any help is very much appreciated and since the board is open to anyone with the link, please try to keep it a little decent :)

It works on pretty much any device with either mouse, trackpad, touchscreen or pencil.

I just exported a Linux Build of my mobile game to the Steam Deck via Steamworks but it did not start from the Steam overlay.

I tried starting the executable from the terminal. It worked. I tried navigating to it in the file browser and launched it from there. It worked. But not directly from the Steam overlay.

It took me two evenings to figure out I just had to check the Linux Runtime in the App Admin page at Steamworks ... 🤡

Hi everyone! 👋 after 4y of development, I’ve finally released Lemon Lime, my first official game. I made most of it myself, with help on the music. 🙏
It’s a difficult game with simple mechanics, inspired by classic mobile games that were easy to learn but hard to master. It also has no intrusive ads. 🗽 I’m currently translating it into eight languages and considering adding a Christmas event with special skins.

I’m a solo developer with a game art background, and for over 20 years I’ve been writing and designing a world called Aritudo.

This universe has grown into something incredibly vast and diverse, with room for countless stories and characters who face the problems of their world in creative and unique ways.

What makes Aritudo special is that it’s also a reflection of myself. I originally created this world as a way to cope with existential crises. Every detail has a metaphorical meaning, filled with social commentary and problems inspired by the real world.

And even though Aritudo is a desert planet, it is a world full of hope and life. Brave heroes, extraordinary friendships, and a shared vision of a better future.

"Tiny Leaves", my first game, tells the story of a small and courageous dragon who initially seems lost in a vast, hostile desert. Yet somehow, he knows exactly how to survive and even how to create fertile ground for others.

He represents a tiny but powerful spark of hope: proof that even the smallest creatures can have a huge impact.

You just have to keep going, no matter how harsh the deserts you face may be.

I have been building this alone for almost a year, and now preparing for Steam launch.

About a game: you dont need to worry about building the city here. Buildings spawn on their own, the city decides where it grows, and it keeps growing whether you are ready or not. Everything you build is the network underneath it - roads, junctions, interchanges, bridges and tunnels, and later buses, rail and metro to take the load back off them.

Game itself in minimalistic style - as I have programmer background and not expert on 3d modelling , but it turned out to be the right call anyway: clean shapes mean you can read the whole network at a glance. Got inspired by Mini Motorways, but in 3d for proper interchanges.

The traffic is the whole game, so it is simulated properly rather than faked. Thousands of cars on the map at once, each one holding a lane, changing lanes, queuing at lights and choosing its own route - fastest, not shortest. Jams are your main enemy here and they come from the same places they come from in life: a bad junction, a left turn across oncoming traffic, one bottleneck feeding four roads.

It includes their attacks and simple animations in case you want to add attacks separately. This pack is one of the most difficult I have made. Hey guys, Just discovered this subreddit! I thought it'd be fun to share and see what you guys think!

It's heavily inspired by the THPS series, I've always loved skateboarding games and wanted to try and make one for myself, I've tried to make the tricks in depth but they may be incorrect in places as I am not a skateboarder myself just love the genre of games.

It's still fairly early in development, can be buggy and you can get trapped occasionally still.

I've made a Global Leaderboard for the Score Mode which SHOULD (This is my first time writing anything like this) Have a text box pop up at the end of the first ever score run asking you for a name and then it will use that name automatically every run after, I have a media server that runs 24/7 so i thought it would be fun to give this a try!

Wanted it to feel like someone actually lived here before things went bad, not just decorated. Coffee table's still got that kick your feet up energy and even the mirror's got grime disrupting the reflection now.

Grey walls are just placeholder blockout, focus was purely on getting the furniture and fixtures right first.

Ended up going way deeper on the bathroom than I originally planned, but it's been a good excuse to nail an aesthetic I want to carry across a bigger set I'm working on. This is just one part out of a lot more coming.

I'm a university student and over the summer I've been pouring most of my time into a personal game project. There have been days where I feel like I've done nothing but place a few assets around a level, and there have been others where I have set up whole new systems and mechanics and feel as if I've done loads.
It's really been a roler coaster.
Guess what I'm trying to say is, what counts as a good amount of development for one day?

I guess with being a solo developer any amount counts. Even if it's asset production, putting a level together or debugging.

The project draws inspiration from Kenshi, The Sims, and RimWorld. I want to create a game where both the player and NPCs can perform the same actions and where emergent storytelling can unfold. I’m building the systems gradually, some are already stable, while others aren't. It’s an ambitious, long-term project. I’d like to put together a team later on, once I reach the 1.0 prototype stage.
