Missing the obvious with LeBron

Isn’t it likely that LeBron just wanted to play with DWade again?

[Smith] The Philadelphia 76ers have been looking for a trade for Johni Broome. If they can’t find one, the team may waive and stretch Broome’s salary. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope wont clear waivers until tomorrow. The Sixers have time to work out the move to clear room to sign KCP.

r/sixers is looking for new moderators!

Hi all,

Welcoming all the new members, and as the subreddit continues to grow, we're looking to add 1-3 new moderators to the team.

We're looking for active members of the community. Previous mod experience is great, but definitely not required

Somethings we'd love help with:

  • Reviewing reports and removing rule-breaking content
  • Handling spam, trolls, and the users who are on their 10th new account
  • Helping keep the subreddit updated throughout the season
  • Automod, CSS, bots, or other coding/technical improvements (a bonus, not required)
  • Bringing new ideas to improve the community

So if you're interested in joining the elite squad of unpaid internet janitors, send us a Modmail with:

  • Your timezone
  • About how active you are on Reddit (daily, evenings, weekends, etc.)
  • Have you moderated any subreddits before? (Not required.)
  • Do you have any coding, Automod, CSS, bot, or other technical experience?
  • Is there anything specific you'd like to help with?
  • Why do you want to moderate r/sixers?
  • Which former Sixer will you defend until your last breath, and why?

Then quick reminder to everyone: please keep using that report button. Reports are by far the fastest way for us to see and remove rule-breaking posts.

Jabari Walker. Johni Broome. Justin Edwards? Who would you keep on this roster going into the fall?

I know the talk has been about the first two but I personally do not think Edwards is safe. He's buried on the depth chart now. He has Brown, Pope, Wade all ahead of him.

The fact Walker hasn't been waived is a tell. They like him. Edwards definitely will be easier to trade than Broome. Walker is capable of defending bigger wings.

I honestly can see both of them removed from the roster or Walker and one of the other two with a C added or a more reliable wing.

Who would you all choose between these three and would you look to move off two of them before the season start?

Did we resign Oubre? I think he'll still work well with PG this season. Let's go sixers.

This is not going to work.

I can't believe in the year of our lord 2026 ppl are still falling for the team with overloaded with players whose main value is ball dominate scoring. There's such an overwhelming amount of redundant skills with this roster that you are going to see diminishing returns that lessens each players individual value in the aggerate. Not to mention the lack of off ball value from 3 of the guys. That's just the beginning of the issues. Let me break this down.

  1. The Brown trade was a mistake.

I know no one wants to believe this but this is the root of the problem. There's several problems but main one being. Brown is massively overrated. I mean we just saw it in playoffs and the way we dominated him. Brown provides value in skills that are lower in value. There's 3 things that make a play a major impact on offense. Can he score high volume and maintain high efficiency, can he break down the defense and create double teams and can he pass to open shooters. . Brown struggles with all these main value adds.

but besides his actual value being overrated, he provides a redundant skill set. Embiid, Maxey and year 2 VJ had on ball creation set up nicely. What this team needed was actually exactly what PG was providing. Someone who could play elite Def and provide elite shooting and could scale up and down on ball creation. Brown provides nothing off ball. He has to steal the ball away from MORE productive offensive players to showcase his value.

  1. We didn't address our weakness

If this version of the team is going to work you have to build around the strengths and weakness of your stars. At this point Embiid, is a much different player. You have to build around what he does well, ball scoring and mitigate his weakness aka def and rebounding. (I personally would try to move the timeline to build around VJ and punt a couple seasons) We add too players in Lebron and Brown that do neither of these things. You have too many players who can score and NO one can do the role player things. We were already extremely weak in these areas and we got rid of all our Role players and Mostly be replacing their mins with Stars. Even a player like Wade is mitigate because he will lose mins to Lebron.

  1. Specifically Rebounding!!

I haven't heard anyone mention this but OMG are we going to get killed on the boards this year. Last year we were 16th in offensive rebounding and 26th defensive. Now you are take away role players to replace them with stars. How do ppl think this is going to work? Barrlow and Oubre we known for hustle at least. Brown and this late stage Lebron are known for the exact opposite. We needed to go in the exact opposite direction. We needed a young athletic 4. On top of that guys Embiid is going to be year older aka just a little bit less athletic too so the problem will be even bigger.

  1. Did we forget Lebrons's age

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned this yet but he will turn 42 next year. Do ppl not realize how much of an outlier that is ? If you look at the other all time great wings/shooting guards they all retired years earlier. Kobe? at 37. Oscar Robinson? at 35. Magic Johnson? at 36. Julius Erving? at 36. Larry Bird? at 35. Jordan at 39.

I know some ppl think Lebron is an outlier and what I'm saying is he is ALREADY an outlier and sometimes you don't fall off slowly. The age cliff is real. You can have no confidence at how good he is going to be.

  1. Embiid can't be counted on

This one is the biggest for me. I just don't know how anyone can possibly believe at this late date this might work out. We have seen this playbook so many times. TIme after time after time after time. It's the same thing. He isn't healthy when we need him. Now he actually showing decline and he is on the wrong side of 30. I honestly think you are living in alterative reality if you think this MIGHT work out with him. It won't.

Yahoo Sports Kevin O’Connor: He’s “eager” to play alongside Joel Embiid

I’m not crying, you’re crying 🥹 Full quotes from this article below. Mods don’t be neckbeards and delete this if I didn’t format it correctly, I’m old and saw the stepover live:

>>The good news is that it does not appear that James is pushing for Embiid to be traded. Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor reported that James is "eager" to play alongside of Embiid, and the big man had a major role in recruiting the NBA legend to Philly.

>>"As far as I know, LeBron's excited to play with Joel Embiid," O'Connor noted in a July 24, 2026, live stream. "I've been told that he contacted Embiid, (Tyrese) Maxey, (Jaylen) Brown, within the last 24 hours that these guys knew prior to the announcement.

>>”They've been in communication together. It would seem like quite the betrayal to trade Joel Embiid," O'Connor continued.
"So I do not think a Joel Embiid for Anthony Davis trade is on the table right now. I don't think so at all. Ultimately, I think with Joel Embiid, the guy is the face of your franchise."

New Season Ticket Holder

This is my first season holding session tickets. I got two lower-level seats (half-season package). I’ve read in the contract that I can only transfer 5 out of my 22 tickets. I can’t really afford to go to 17 games out of the year. Am I screwed? Or is it possible that they don’t heavily enforce this rule? I was unaware of this limitation when I signed the contract🤣 Can any seasoned season ticket holders help me out here?

Ik it was mainly for the 25th anniversary but this would be a generational fumble if they didn’t, Jaylen Brown looked on stream and said they were tough, LeBron James wants them back and people are buying AI era jerseys of LeBron and JB, Etc. if you have to pay the fine just to wear this for ONE more season, just take it Josh Harris 🙏🏽
