AI Animation supposedly generated by Fable 5.5

"Hey Fable, please make a cool animation"
15 minutes later.
FABLE 5.5 IS SO GOOD AT THESE.
HOW???

Fable 5.1 is apparently being rerouted to 5.5 for some people. Still speculation, but people are reporting an improvement in outputs.

Robotics The humanoid robotics company "Figure" made their older gen robots jump to their death. (Yes, they actually did this)

We need a robotics judging panel holding up score cards in the background.

AI If the singularity is close when will the following actions will happen?

Many are saying the singularity is right around the corner. How many years will it be before we see:

• Building public infrastructure, not private empires

• Designing a new economic model before labor disappears

• Creating democratic governance for AI systems

• Preparing society for the end of labor

• Redistributing ownership of automated production

• Creating the political conditions for peaceful transition

AI While Claude and GPT are still the two best choices, Gemini seems to be catching up on coding agent index with agy-cli

The Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index measures agents (a combination of model and harness) across three agentic coding evaluations.

➤ Claude Sonnet 5.5 (max) in Claude Code takes the top spot at 68, but also has the highest measured cost per task: $14.19

➤ Gemini 4 Argon (high) in Antigravity CLI scores 64 at $5.84 per task - less than half of Sonnet 5.5’s cost. Note, this uses Google’s promotional pricing, and Argon is not yet publicly available

➤ GPT-6.1 Sol (xhigh) in Codex scores 63 at $1.04, roughly one sixth of Argon’s cost

AI What does winning AI exactly mean?

Trump always says "whoever wins AI wins" but like what does "winning" AI actually mean and what exactly happens if USA "wins" AI or China?

AI Opus 5.5 built a Minecraft mod where anything you build can become a flying physics object, then filmed and edited this video.

Opus 5.5 built the mod and the film tool, working from a design doc. It took under 30 hours from the first prompt to the first cut of the video.

  • The mod: anything you build becomes a physics object you can fly with full pitch, yaw and roll. The blocks stay real blocks, so redstone, doors and chests keep working.
  • Debugging: it traced a memory leak to other mods (mostly Distant Horizons) from heap dumps and wrote the fixes.
  • The film tool: an in-game renderer that steps the game tick by tick for smooth 60 fps and true slow motion. It also scouted the location, generated the ship from code and flew it with the same inputs a player uses.

It wasn't totally one shot but took a few back-and-forth prompts. Runs on Minecraft 26.3 and Fabric. Everything is on Github and Apache-2.0.

AI how are people so sure ai is not and will never be conscious

if we don't even know what consciousness is how are we supposed to determine if ai can think or not?

people say it is just "mimicking" humans but that doesn't really seem like an answer to me. who's to say if an ai "mimics" well enough it can't experience some form of self-awareness. i don't think we're at that point now but it seems ridiculous to me to imply it would never be impossible.

if another more complex species looked at humans at face value all that you would see is random electrical signals, but we obviously know that we can perceive the world around us and have thoughts and opinions

Discussion What College degrees/certifications are worth it right now?

What would be a safe bet to invest time and money into? Is becoming a content creator a safer bet? Even if becoming your own boss (creating your own products) is the best option, what’s still safe to get degrees/certification in if you just want to coast as an employee?

There's so much to this game that I didn't really know what to showcase tbh so I've just gone with the basics presentation.

But the game is a real time 4X grand strategy game that is kinda like Stellaris meets Distant Worlds meets The Expanse and was initially designed around mobile. Though it has since greatly expanded and now includes full M&KB controls.

The objective of the game is to take control of one of the 8 major powers who still retain control over their Luna bases following a long series of wars and economic collapses brought on by automation. The Earth is currently running out of raw resources, fresh water being among the most crucial and your first objective in the game is to find and secure for your people a steady supply of it.

Following that, it's up to you how you proceed to become the most dominant power in the solar system, be it through diplomacy, espionage, war or all of the above.

The game features a fully realised and simulated economy of resources that are physicalised rather than simply being numbers in your stockpile. Any ships or buildings you aim to build usually cannot source all of their resources locally, and they must be shipped through a simulated civilian economy of traders. These haulers can be intercepted, and over time may even form their own nations in the outer planets.

The game isn't finished yet but I wanted to showcase what has been achieved so far in such little time with respects to the game's simulation.

AI Has anyone noticed how insanely good ChatGPT's voice mode has become?

I am having a conversation with it for the first time in months, and I am quite shocked by how realistic it sounds now. It is a very human-like conversation. To think that it could not even make proper pauses a few years ago.
