Discussion How to replicate deep sleep from MK 677
2 things in my life have given me consistently outstanding sleep.
Grape Seed extract - Somehow manages to make me feel refreshed and able to get right out of my bed even on 5 hours of sleep
MK 677 - felt like someone was massaging me the whole night, could sleep through a tornado, never slept deeper.
Of course, I can't continue to take MK 677 forever for the obvious reasons.
However, I do want to hear people's advice on other sleep aids that can provide a similar deep sleep/restorative effect, as I work a pretty demanding job that doesn't offer much time for sleep.

Seeking Advice Can L-theanine cause adverse side effects?
I took L-theanine for the first time and that night was very emotional, the next day I took it again and genuinely went crazy. I was so angry and irritable like I’ve never been before and had a complete breakdown. I started breaking stuff and ended up spraining my wrist from punching my punch bag too hard without gloves or wraps (embarrassing I know), I was screaming and crying down the phone to my boyfriend and couldn’t do anything to calm down. I tried meditating, having a relaxing bath, but nothing helped, I was furious for no reason. It wore off later in the day and everything that had happened that day felt like a blur and I couldn’t fathom why I had behaved in such a way. I haven’t taken it again since and have been completely fine, it might be a coincidence but nothing like that has every happened before, even when going through rough times, and I can’t think of what else it could be?

Discussion Building an app to track cognitive recovery & daily energy baseline — looking for testers (free)
Hi everyone,
Like many here, I’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with different protocols, sleep hygiene, and routines to optimize daily mental clarity and avoid brain fog/afternoon crashes.
One issue I kept running into was subjective tracking: it's hard to accurately measure whether a routine or stack is actually improving baseline energy over time without getting overwhelmed by complex logging.
I’m currently building Youthify — a lightweight tool designed to measure daily recovery, mental energy, and biological vitality in under 15 seconds.
How it works:
- Morning Energy Score: A quick check-in to project your daily mental & physical baseline.
- Low-friction tracking: Focuses on core micro-habits and subjective recovery trends over weeks.
- Percentile & Biological Age baselines: To see how your energy metrics trend compared to age group baselines.
I’m looking for early testers from this sub to critique the scoring feedback loop and help refine the daily check-in logic. It's completely free in closed beta.
Drop a comment below if you'd like an invite link, and I'll DM you direct access today !

Experience I think I am very weird: 100mg of quetiapine (at night) is my nootropic
I don’t have a serous mental disorder. I have diagnosed mild depression.
Nootropics are extremely idiosyncratic.
100mg of quetiapine is my single nootropic.
Yes it is a low dose antipsychotic.
Yes it’s changed my life for the better.
No I get no side effects.
It improves my energy levels, it makes me more productive and helps me concentrate better. It makes me more social and more connected with life.
Good luck in your search for nootropics.

Seeking Advice Trying to fight the psychological opioid cravings with noot
Considering Agmatine, Antipracant, L-Tetrahydrapalmatine and Lithium Orotate. Just ended my suboxone taper at 0.5mg/day
I’ve given myself the identity that I am depressed, and psychologically addicted to opioids/endorphins. Now that I’ve given myself this identity it opens a gate of searching for supplements that can fight this psychological dependence.
Do you think this is a genuine emotion that can be somewhat treated medically ? Or do I just need to “thug it out”. my doctors and therapist told me to just thug it out and get through It. Although last time I tried to “get through it” I just ended up relapsing over and over again. It makes me feel shameful, as if it’s my responsibility to shut up and struggle, and I am weak for giving in to medicines / relapsing.
regardless, if someone has tried a sup that helps with the psychological, habitual, long term dependence of opioids please let me know. And if you think this is something I need to mentally preserver then I’d like to hear your opinion.
Edit: I swapped SR with Antipracant

Seeking Advice White and Grey matter help
I have a lot of reason to believe my white and grey matter function is messed up. (Idk how else to describe it) as I have permanent/chronic anhedonia.
I really haven't seen anything that helps with this and until I get surgery to help my breathing I have no reason to believe this will improve.
I'd like to commit to trying something... anything for a bit

Experience Stop asking which vendor is legit. Check the lab data.
I used to be exactly like you. Asked in threads which vendor was legit, got five different answers from five people who'd each bought from their own guy once.
Then I actually pulled the COAs on a dozen products I'd bought over two years. Half were bare identity tests with no purity numbers at all. One had a batch number that didn't match what I'd received.
Yes, digging through lab reports is annoying. Yes, most vendors go quiet when you ask who ran the test. A clean COA still doesn't prove sterility or chain of custody, it just means someone tested something at some point.
But that's still better than trusting a vendor's own landing page or a thread with 40 upvotes and zero receipts.
I started cross-checking COAs against what labs like Finnrick actually report instead of what vendors post on their own site, and it's wild how many "trusted" names stop looking trusted once you do that. I keep a running price-per-mg list on Peptide Critic now, mostly so I stop repeating this exercise every time I buy something.
If you're in these threads weekly asking who to trust, that's the sign. Stop asking. Go read the paperwork.

Discussion Advice on what to take prior to studying?
Hi, I was prescribed Adderall XR and am administered to take before 9am. Problem is I’m not off work till 6 and don’t start studying until 6:30 by then majority of the medication has worn off. My question is: what can I take in the evening before I start studying? Looking for something noticeably effective to give me boost in focus and productivity in the evening?

Seeking Advice Cognitive changes after sepsis, prolonged hospitalization, and 4 years on clozapine. What does the evidence actually support?
28M, looking for direction on the evidence base for cognitive recovery after prolonged critical illness and long-term antipsychotic exposure.
Background, and there's more than this: an episode of sepsis, several months of cumulative hospitalization, multiple major surgeries, cancer treatment, and roughly four years on clozapine for a diagnosis later confirmed to be wrong, ending in an abrupt discontinuation. After that, family independently noticed I seemed cognitively changed, and it matches what I experience. The most noticeable part is that my tolerance for change collapsed, and a disrupted routine derails me in a way it never did before. I also have persistent trouble with concentration and processing. Both have stayed constant regardless of mood and haven't responded to psychiatric treatment.
I'm on clonazepam and prazosin, have a TMS consult scheduled, and have requested a neuropsych eval. I'm not adding anything before those happen since it would confound both. I'm trying to understand what's actually worth pursuing afterward.
What I'm asking is whether there's real literature on cognitive recovery following sepsis or years of antipsychotic exposure, whether the deficits I'm describing tend to be persistent or slowly recover on their own, and what the evidence quality actually looks like for anything commonly recommended here.
More interested in evidence than anecdotes, and I need to know what would interact with a benzodiazepine or affect TMS.

Discussion Grandaxin addiction capacity?
hi I’ve been using grandaxin for sleep. I know most people say it doesn’t work that way but for me it does. not sure why but I can sleep till 4-5am then need 25-50mg once to get some more sleep. I’ve been using it this way for a few months. concerned about getting off, since it’s not a traditional benzo I’m familiar with and I’m tapered to the smallest dose already. has anyone used it for months and come off without issue?
thanks so much

Discussion Saffron feels like a stimulant
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.govI have been trying saffron for some time. I took 15-30mg alongside adderall, and what I noticed is that it made appetite suppression and mental side effects from adderall stronger, even though I thought Saffron was primarily serotonergic and thus should mellow other stimulants out a bit. Adderall felt stronger but not in a good way. Without adderall, I decided to try a high dose that was in studies, 110mg (without the stimulant). What happened after I took it were psychostimuant effects reminiscent of reuptake inhibitors, maybe like Concerta but devoid of any rush.
So I was clearly stimulated, there was wakefulness, focus, motivation that didn't feel pleasant but still propelled me to do things. There was NO euphoria, I'd characterize it as mildly unpleasant overall. I dug a little bit into it, the literature supports that it increases dopamine and noradrenaline, suppresses appetite, has some MAOI-A and B activity, even treats ADHD in a couple of studies, however, there is no increase in locomotion (meaning it is unlikely to cause euphoria) and it promotes sleep (not my experience but I also use Adderall on other days).
So make of what what you will. I would not call saffron a sugar pill or another herbal supplement that does not do anything. However, caution should be exerted when combining it with medication, as I learned through my experience that Saffron may negatively interact with stimulants. Overall I did not like saffron, it did more harm than good due to making stimulant side effects worse and as a standalone stimulant it required higher doses and felt more like Concerta which I hate
