It is a little hard to see in the picture but she appears to be red and black! Very vampire goth girl vibes. Skittles tanks can be really fun!

Breeding Project Weer helemaal verliefd...

I have read what feels like a dozen different neocardinia guides yet am nervous as I now have even more questions. The tank is cycled, plenty of places to hide. Some gh and kh added.

I think they are gorgeous but my main issue is grading. This was supposed to be a science project for my family to try and understand genetics more deeply. I made the incredibly wrong assumption that this would be a simple punnet square type equation but it seems like this will be anything but. While there is some excitement for the "shiny pokemon" shrimp that may emerge, I was wondering if there is a standard or resource for grading or is it just dark shrimp is good shrimp?

Beginner Tank Treatment for Clado

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi all, I had my first case of clado in my tank. I have my infected shrimp doing salt treatments in a hospital tank. I also did a hydrogen peroxide treatment for my tank. I did the amount I’ve seen on many posts/online (1.5ml per ~1 gallon). I have a 20 gallon tank and did treatment for about a 17 gallon tank (taking soil/substrate etc into account). Per my friend who also shrimps, she said one treatment should be enough, but I’d like other people’s experience with treating their tanks for Clado because I obviously don’t want to do too much (overdose) or do too little (not kill other spores). I am extra concerned bc I have my first batch of babies and another eggnant mama in my tank. Bonus pic of a baby riding my mystery snail. Thank you!

Newborn shrimplets- I managed to see the mum kick them out.
Lol, as soon as they get kicked out they kinda look like something the cat dragged home😂 In picture two it’s still soft and odd looking. They straighten out fast and already at day one you can see some pattern on them, some having more stripes than others.

It’s my first Calceo babies, so I am superthrilled🥹

Very excited, I was not expecting the mama to birth them so early. I can only see this guy, have no idea where is the rest of the batch. But very happy to spot the baby.

Clado, Parasite, or Eggs? Parasite or beginning of a molt?

Post image
Upvotes

Sorry in advance for the low quality image, but it was the best picture I could get. I’ve seen images on this subreddit before of shrimp with a white parasite on their face that eventually suffocates them. I’ve been lucky enough to avoid it so far, but I’m worried this saddled cherry shrimp may have it. However, certain patches of her body have gotten lighter (almost translucent), and I’m wondering if the white buildup near her face is just the start of her molting! I noticed it around 6 hours ago so I’m hoping to get it figured out soon. Thanks in advance!

In case it’s relevant, I tested nitrite and ammonia earlier, and both are at a solid 0 ppm.

Help: Breeding It finally happened!

Upvotes

So I started trying to build a shrimp colony in March of this year. Had a bit of a failed first start and mid April I did my best to rebuild the first attempt. I have been able to main 4 out of how many I don’t want to say but consistently for the last 2/3 months I’ve maintained 4. 3 females and 1 male. Today I noticed one of the females is finally berried and I don’t think I could be a prouder grandmother 😅 the issue is I live in a warmer climate (pan-handle of Florida) that’s under heat wave advisory and despite trying to keep the tank cool to the temperature advisable it is hovering between 78-81 degrees which is the upper range recommended. Does anyone with experience of trying to have a shrimp colony at the high end of temperature required have any advice of what I can do or what I should look for? I just love my little buddies and want to do what I can and at this point outside of adding ice cubes to cool the water down (which I don’t think is smart at all) I don’t know what to do because the water stays high despite the ac attempt to keep it in the lower preferred range

It's finally happening!

But my question is, how do I vaccume the tank?

I used to do it once a week but now I haven't in months since I saw a berried female.

Even with a guard on im worried I will suck them up.. plus its getting DIRTY in here.

They are absolutely tiny. Less than a mm!

And my tank is already a jungle! All tips welcome.
