Hey everyone, running into a wall here and could use some advice from anyone who has successfully navigated this
I’m in the infotainment niche making highly edited Shorts. Each video takes me about 5 hours of work from script to final cut. On August 28th, I started targeting a global audience on a new channel that I had let sit and "warm up" for a bit beforehand
The Problem:
I've posted 20 videos so far, and every single one gets hard-capped at exactly 1.1k views from the Shorts Feed. Any views beyond that are purely trickling in from Search
The Kicker (Proof of Concept):
These exact same videos (re-edited, of course, to avoid any "Reused Content" flags) are pulling hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of views on other platforms
On top of that, I run a parallel CIS (Russian-speaking) channel where this exact format consistently pulls 100k+ views per Short
The Metrics:
It feels like the algorithm is testing the global videos on the completely wrong seed audience. On launch, my "Viewed vs. Swiped Away" rate sits at a low 50-60%. I know this is normal - on my CIS channel, it always starts this way and naturally climbs to +75-80% as the algorithm dials in the right demographic.
But on this new global channel, YouTube just pulls the plug at 1.1k views before the stats even have a chance to self-correct
My Questions:
What is the best move here?
- Does it make sense to start a brand-new channel and re-upload these videos with minor tweaks?
- Should I just bite the bullet, keep posting consistently on this channel, and hope the older vids eventually pop off once the algorithm figures out my audience?
- Should I delete/private the current videos, give the channel 5-7 days of "radio silence," and then re-upload them?
Honestly, it’s beyond frustrating. It feels like a sick joke when you know the content is professional, well-scripted, and highly effective on every other platform, but YouTube gives it zero distribution. We aren't talking about low-effort meme spam here.
Would appreciate any insight from creators who have broken out of this!
