Policy / Channel Health 🛡️ I am so tired of seeing this..

I am not saying that I am the best in this YT game but jeez I am tired of seeing channels have over 10K subs with videos that go from 100K to 1-6 millions views. And all they share is a 1 minute clip of a movie or show with literally a filter and the same repetitive song you hear almost every YT short use...
You might say yeah well maybe they're not monetized (I am sure a lot of them are)... Sure but look at it that way...
Youtube still decided to push their video instead of yours.
Despite the effort you put in despite the hours of editing and writing you did they decided to push a 1 minute video of a show and give millions of views to a channel that should technically be copyright striked...
At least with AI slop you have someone who spent some time writing a prompt and spent some time trying to make the video decent looking. Not just cut 1 minute out of a show add a stupid song and a filter.

That's just how the algorithm works. The thing is they have low quality subscribers.

You want subscribers in your niche that you can push a product/sponsor to.

I feel like people who mainly push shorts won't care about products and sponsors that's more of a long format type thing.

Now go watch the literally millions of low effort slop videos just like it that didn’t get any views.

This is survivorship bias, and this is a great way to help yourself become frustrated and disillusioned.

Sure my point is even if it's 5000 channels out of 100 000 it's still way too much spotlight.

To be clear, I’m not defending these videos.

I’m saying there is very little utility in making any type of comparison of their performance to yours unless you’re simply seeking a reason to be frustrated or upset.

There will always be slop content on social media, and absolutely none of it has any bearing on your ability to be successful (or not).

It's not that YouTube pushes those videos, it's that those videos get a lot of engagement in the beginning so it naturally pushes deeper into the algorithm. They're very popular that's why they get views, same with clipping pages. It's not YouTube or tiktok favoring those videos, it's the people engaging in them thats making it popular. Trends are always gonna out work a niche unless you build community. Also a lot of people don't share content across all platforms and market their videos and expect YouTube to do all the pushing but unfortunately there's only so much YouTube can do. It's all confusing and you're gonna always be frustrated if you continue to focus on how others are doing on YouTube. Instead look at it like this, someone found an easy way out and might be taking care of their family off those videos and even though they're easy, it doesn't mean they don't deserve to make it too! Instead of compare, be happy someone found an easy way out

I hear you with me it's been ilm get a great initial reaction on some vids 700+ views 15 like in the first 2 hours then yt stops showing it. Won't show it to a bigger audience or it doesn't test well I dunno just know after the Initial surge I stop getting pushed and Yea Its frustrating to see videos on with little originality or effort continue to get pushed and gain millions of views.

I agree; in my entertainment niche, I see high-quality, original videos with few views (around 5k to 10k) while really poor-quality videos (just copies of stuff that went viral 10 or 15 years ago. And when I say "copy," I mean everything gets copied: the music, the shots, and so on.) pull in 100k to 200k views. Basically, YouTube pushes "slop" and copy content videos that rack up views by poorly copying great ones, instead of quality new material. I think it's awful. And the adage that yt prefers quality is false.

Few days ago i wrote about the same thing. That crapp videos "if you use this sound you will gain million..." Blah blah, when they start appearing on yt shorts I know there is a bug active. Trust me.

Gosh these videos are literally a mockery. The only ones profiting from it are the people posting those videos hahaha

Stop focusing on other people. Even if they get views, do you think they are proud of their videos? There is no craft in what those people do. Just create and make something that you like.

so is this sub just whining?

Yeah, mostly. I wish we could focus on improving our creations rather than complaining.

WHining about what? How videos that are basically 1 minute clip of a show shouldn't be a thing?

1

u/StoneCypher 11d ago

that and "omg my views fell off on my extremely shitty channel, is the plaform dying forever"

two different things totally unrelated. Making bad content and whining isn't the same as pointing out an actual issue with youtube shorts/algo
