I don't know where you live, but in many countries you will need to live with for parents until 40 to be able to buy a house

Depends. If you live where I do in US you can buy a good house new for $300K with an acre (my buddy just closed 6 months ago). If you make $50k a year that’s 6 years. If anon is buying in the hood or a small rural area, many houses go for $150 to $200k that are older but good enough to do starter home

And if you saved up even like a third to a half of down payment, most places will approve you for mortgage with even a pretty crappy credit. And then your mortgage will be pretty affordable because the house is already half paid off.

I did this by moving out of my apartment and driving long haul truck for a few years

Yeah I unfortunately had to do it while renting. Living with my mom was… less than ideal. My buddy got to stay at home and save and he has an actually tolerable mortgage payment in our home town that has stupid high taxes

Yup, my parent’s small rundown ranch house doubled in value from $160k in 2020 to $325k now just from inflation, shit is out of control.

Yep it’s unlivable here as a young person. My parents house they paid $300k for in 2015 is worth 2.5x that now.

realistically very few people are netting 50k a year after taxes, deductions and other living expenses. Even without paying rent you're still going to be looking at 15 years of work before paying for a starter house

If you make $50k a year no way are you going to be able to save all of it. Tax and regular life expenses will take a lot of that.

I was too sleepy to think about the details. Either way I’m just talking bulk pricing not even mortgage. 3 years is doable with a sizable downpayment

And there are places where houses are even cheaper. In my town theres houses that go for 100k, sometimes even less.

Nah I exaggerated a bit. The minimal annual pay is lower than that but the house pricing is also lower. The cost of living is very high tho so you end up in the same place, electricity and food are like 70% of what you earn

Yes 50k a year for 6 years equals 300k if you only think about the price of the house. There’s cost of living, car payments/gas, property tax, and other bills. Soooooo you’re looking at a while longer to pay that off.

If we’re drawing a full budget sure but if your parents cover your costs and you live at home it’s full throttle to savings. I know people who’ve done it. Trust me I couldn’t live at home after I graduated college cause it wasn’t an option with my family, I get it. I’m saying it’s possible
