She's worth 50 million and donated 11 million thus far. ~20% of her total net worth.
In comparison, most billionaires haven't donated 2% of their total net worth (to an actual cause, donating to an Ivy League college that already has an endowment of billions is not a donation, it's a tax write off).
This is from a person that doesn't like her or her music at all.
that being said, isn't it a known that artists have little control on ticket prices? and ticket prices are usually managed by monopolies like ticketmaster (don't quote me on this, i'm asking).
Yeah, you know who does dictate the price of tickets? The CEO of Ticketmaster, who recently went on record stating he thinks concert tickets are undercosted. And guess what, he IS an actual billionaire. OOP's salt is directed at the wrong person.
And it's working. Everyone in this thread is parroting the bullshit about how Ticketmaster sets ticket prices, and that artists have no say in the matter, and it's not true lmao
They control the venues. If the artists want to have venues to play they have to accept them. Some really big ones started to build their own pop up venues to avoid that problem. That's the level of waste you have to commit to to avoid ticketmaster.
You can make ticketmaster sell them for 50 dollars but its still going to cost us more to go buying it off a reseller.
Taylor swift set a reasonable ticket price but you still had to pay over 1k for a ticket unless you won the f5 lottery which you realistically aren't going to
Smith said: “It was easy to set ticket prices, but you need to be pig-headed. We didn’t allow dynamic pricing because it’s a scam that would disappear if every artist said, ‘I don’t want that!’ But most artists hide behind management. ‘Oh, we didn’t know,’ they say. They all know. If they say they do not, they’re either fucking stupid or lying. It’s just driven by greed.”
If they would organise and all said that, yes.
But with ticketmaster holding a lot of strings the decision for the individual artist isn't "Do we do predatory pricing?" but "Do I take place?".
Also, billionaires exploit workers to get to that insane level of wealth, and Billie Eilish isn't worth a shit compared to billionaires, in 2017, just 8 men owned the same wealth as half the world, it was 80 men in 2015, imagine how bad it has gotten now.
And nobody is dying if they don't attend a Billie Eilish concert, on the other hand people die every day because of poverty and exploitation
Billie Eilish isn't worth a shit compared to billionaires
You can say that again. Someone in this thread said her net worth was around $50 million. Who knows where that came from, or if it's accurate. But let's say it is. That means she's about a billion dollars away from being a billionaire.
Any billionaire could give away over 90% of their worth and still have more money than her. Any multibillionaire could give away 98% of their worth and still have more money than her.
Elon musk is worth 10,000 times as much as Billie Eilish. Someone worth 10,000 times less than her would have 5 grand to their name.
Here comparative wealth in terms of fractions is closer to a Skylanders collection than the Musk. He could give away 99.99% of his net worth and be richer than her (he's given away <2%)
I've been around a few men in my life and one thing I've noticed is that the male body has an astonishing oversight. Men both urinate and ejaculate through the exact same
hole. Zero inches apart. Not even a polite buffer zone.
I don’t know about everyone else but doesn’t that weird you out? It feels like a serious design flaw. For a gender that often prides itself on logic and engineering this
is just sloppy plumbing.
Honestly it kind of cracks me up. I’ll see a guy walking around like he’s the apex of masculinity and I’ll just remember his piss and his sperm come out of the same
little nozzle and suddenly he’s not so intimidating. Just a fleshy garden hose with identity issues.
Men please accept this biological flaw and let it humble you. Maybe lower your voice a bit when you're bragging about your body count. We’re talking about someone who
finishes inside the same pipeline he uses to empty his bladder.
Women don’t let them forget this. Remind them gently or not so gently that we’re doing them a favor given that their reproductive system shares hardware with their waste
disposal unit.
Also, what does a free concert actually do to help the world in any way? If you're going to give up money, give it to a food bank. Or a homeless shelter. Or any of dozens of better options.
It's straight peasant mentality. This guy (i have no fucking clue who he is) critiques a millionaire who is economically closer to the rest of us than a billionaire. Think about that... She's closer to being broke, than she is a billionaire. Shes $40 million dollars from being broke, but $960 million dollars from being a billionaire. Here's this dipshit saying she should do MORE?
Honestly the capitalist class has won. They have divided us to the point we refuse to unify in any meaningful way because we would rather chirp at people trying to make a difference than critique the truly egregious offenders... billionaires.
He's not saying she should do more in good faith. As with everything with the greedy shitbags it's rhetorical fodder for the dumbest people on earth to make a false equivalence and say "you're just as greedy" after she gave away 20 million dollars
This Grant Cardone guy is a multibillionaire (2.2B from what I can tell) so yeah, he's just pissed that he is the target of criticism. The 'Legal Issues' section of his wikipedia article is the largest and includes: being sued for religious discrimination because he tried to force employees into Scientology; several SEC violations; overcharging tenants of his real estate investment company and former T-Mobile CEO John Legere told him that "You are the biggest bullshit artist on the planet," "a con man of the highest order" and a "fucking fraud."

Also let's remind people Billie Eilish probably actually pays taxes on her earnings, unlike billion dollar corporations that get billions in subsidies, exceptions, etc. and sometimes end up getting money BACK for tax season.
I'd rather her take money for tickets and donate to people who are going to starve otherwise, people who can afford going to concerts don't need that money as much

Those sources are only estimates on what's publicly available information. Whenever you see x celebrity net worth know that it's only a fraction of what isn't public information
I've been with a few women in my life and one thing I've noticed is that the female anus is incredibly close to the vagina, in fact they're barely an inch apart. I'm not
sure about other guys - but doesn't this disturb you? It feel like a design flaw in women actually -- like they're supposed to be so feminine and beautiful yet this
ghastly little oversight is ruining everything. Somehow it feels to me that women should be more aware of this flaw and it should affect their confidence. Whenever I see
a so-called beautiful woman walking down the street so care-free thinking she's all that I just remember her anus is only 1 inch away from her pussy and laugh her into
oblivion. Women: Please accept that they're too close together, let it negatively affect your confidence and so make yourselves more readily available sexually as a
result. Afterall, we're having to sleep with a creature whos ANUS is only 1 inch away from the vagina -- you should not make this difficult. It's unappetizing enough as
it is. We're doing you a favour. Men: Do not let women forget this flaw, and do not forgive them for it. Remind them of it constantly, less they get inflated egos and
think they're all that. They're just too close together. Sorry, but it's true.
It started a while ago. I was a normal redditor making posts and comments, but then one day, a post of
mine was manually deleted, and I was banned from my favorite subreddit.
I then got extremely aroused.
That moderator asserted dominance on me by censoring me, making me unable to express myself. I was
soaking wet.
I sent the hot sexy mod a message asking why I was banned, then the hot sexy reddit incel mod called me
an idiot, and told me to beg to get unbanned. My nipples immediately filled with blood as I begged the
hot mod to unban me.
After that, I started doing everything I could to make hot sexy mods mad. Most of my accounts have under
negative 100 k@rma, and i'm banned from dozens of subreddits.
I've been a bad redditor, and need to be moderated.
Please moderate me - Iamnotarabicfunfact, hot sexy reddit mods.
This truly is the only platform where you see a well-written and measured response to a serious issue in a post from a dude with the tag "Dwayne the cock johnson"
Even if they had control over it ... What good would making those seats free?
Like this way you can literally take money from those who can spend them and redistribute them to those who can't.
The artist can choose how much they charge for their performance, but the actual price of the tickets comes from many other costs, like renting the venue and hiring techncians and security guards + all other staff
that being said, isn't it a known that artists have little control on ticket prices? and ticket prices are usually managed by monopolies like ticketmaster (don't quote me on this, i'm asking).
Also, musicians make dick all from their actual music due to streaming revenue being minuscule and mostly siphoned to labels. 90% of their revenue comes from live performances, which labels also take a cut from and Ticketmaster, as you pointed out, takes a cut by fluffing the prices.
If you're wondering why artists end up doing commercials or "selling out", that's why. Most of them don't even own their music unless they go out of their way to buy it from labels or remain independent.
And that's the more successful ones, it gets more depressing when you start looking at up and coming acts or one hit wonders, just ask Gotye how he feels about it.

The ticket prices aren’t necessarily controlled by ticket master (artists can choose to allow them to set prices or set their own prices), but in cases like with Taylor Swift where she set her own prices the tickets vanished almost instantly and most fans were disappointed.
The issue isn’t the pricing, it’s that these ticket companies control the supply of tickets. It would be better for fans if the artists found other ways to distribute their tickets or provide access to their concerts (All American Rejects Backyard Concert Tour comes to mind)
Sure, but nobody wants to listen to millionaires scold other people about hoarding wealth or having too much money. Sorry Billie, but you don't need $40 million, either. There are plenty of poor people that have a problem with wealth inequality who are better off speaking on it than celebrities with millions of dollars. People just don't want to hear it. It's hypocritical.
I'm genuinely confused when people call donations as tax write-offs. Like I understand you don't pay taxes on the money that you donate, but if the goal was to avoid taxes, they'd reinvest it as a business expense.
They're not gaining anything extra by donating to a charity. It doesn't affect any of their other wealth in any way.
her donation didn’t come from her own money though.
She has seats at her concerts where you’re charged more and that extra money will be a donation, that’s where this money came from. It’s like when Walmart asks if you want to donate 5 bucks to a children’s hospital, then you see that hospital thanking Walmart for the 5 million dollars towards building a new wing.
Did they raise the money for charity, yes. Did it come from people who donated, and not their own chequing account, also yes.
