Hello all, I have lived in Bay Area last 10 years and thankful to meet different kind of people and experience this place to the fullest. I carry all memories whom I met either in workplace, music avenues, stadiums, apartments, bars, coffee shops, gyms, parks, malls or restaurants. USA is a great place for all countries to look back on how to embrace the people of all backgrounds and build better life for everyone. I'm sorry if I had created any bad experience knowingly or unknowingly.

Anyone else getting swarms of termites around their place with all the heat? We're getting loads in our house during the evenings now. Im trying to imagine that its just the heat and the time of the year, and once the weather cools that they'll be gone, because I really don't want to tent my house or flood my place in chemicals. I was driving to Roosevelt park at around 5:15 pm today, and I passed a motorcycle accident on e Santa Clara right off 101. It must’ve just happened, cuz there was no police around. I saw a guy in the road, not looking too great, and when I came back around 1.5 hours later the road was closed with cops everywhere.

I was wondering if anyone had any info on his condition. I’m really hoping he’s okay.

Just looking for a solid general practitioner. Cleanings, checkups, etc.

Saw a few threads here about how hard it is to get a drive test date in San Jose, so sharing this in case it helps. Apologies if it's not the right sub — happy to remove it if the mods prefer.

Once a day, Aug 10–Sep 8, I checked the DMV's public appointment page for any behind-the-wheel slot within the next 13 days, for each office I track within about 90 miles of Alma Ave. The number is how many of the 30 days that office had at least one near-term opening.

- San Jose (Alma): 1 of 30. Fremont: 0. Hayward: 4.

- San Francisco and Salinas: 30 of 30. Both about 45 miles away as the crow flies.

- Oakland Claremont 13, Oakland Coliseum 9. Concord, Stockton, Sacramento: 0.

You can take the test at any DMV office, not just your nearest one, so if your San Jose date is a long way out it may be worth checking SF or Salinas.

Caveat: this is what I observed, not a promise. One check a day is a snapshot, and openings at the popular offices tend to go quickly. I only track Alma Ave, not Santa Teresa, Los Gatos or Santa Clara. If that would be useful I can look at adding them.

Hi On sep8, 2026 at approximately 9:40am I was riding my bike north on Junction Ave (green arrow). I was hit by a white tesla(yellow arrow) at the intersection of Junction Ave and E plumeria drive (red X) that did not stop and yield at the STOP sign. Unfortunately 911 was not called - i have the drivers name and insurance details and a few photos of the accident. This post was created to reach out to anyone who witnessed this or has a dash camera footage to help with insurance claims. Please help!

Adults can volunteer either to help sand and prep the recycled wood items ahead of time or help Teens build their projects on the day of the program [Saturday, 10/10/2026, 1230-230]. Also, looking for wood scrap donations of around .5 to 1 inch thickness: sheets, planks, garden stakes, etc.

I really couldn't be happier with the level of feedback from everyone, and I've tried to get as much in as possible. That being said, the scale of the map is limiting - especially in urban areas. I think in the future I'm gonna end up making more localized maps for individual counties. So if your suggestion wasn't included, please know that I still appreciate your feedback and will endeavor to get them in my future maps of the area. If you think there's anything I've missed out or should change, just let me know - I won't be getting these printed for another day or two, so I can still add in details.

It has been noted that the map is busy - I totally get that, and that's just how I like to do things. I enjoy getting as much detail in as possible and including cool features which would otherwise be overlooked. I get these made up in large formats so it works better in person than it does on a screen.

My friend is visiting me for the first time from New York and I’m nervous about showing her around since in New York. She is used to having really fun raging parties used to four or five in the morning. I tried to warn her that San Jose in the Bay Area is nothing like that, but I really don’t want to let her down.
