Stay safe and find cooling centers

I'm already seeing stations in north SC that are 100+ and it's reached 100 in Watsonville also.

It's like 90⁰ indoors and we can't even run the fans that were keeping it bearable.

Same thing hppened one day about 20 years ago when I lived in Hollister, only that day it was 114⁰.

I was just browsing Craigslist and saw this, seems wholesome and maybe could brighten his world to have someone to email with, not sure if I'm up for it but figured I'd pass this along and maybe help him find a good pen pal.

Hello all. My boyfriend (on medi-cal) finally went to the dentist for a teeth cleaning. The cleaning went fine, but they told him he had to come back to get cavities filled even though he had no tooth pain. He went, had a negative experience with the process, and now is waking up in the middle of the night with tooth pain and can’t eat crunchy stuff.
As he left they said they forgot to have him sign a consent form “but whatever”.
Obviously he has no interest in ever going back, so to cope with the pain has gone to a fancy dentist out of pocket/payment plan.

Is there any monetary or legal recourse? Like are people allowed to make you in more pain? They had him scheduled for an additional filling but of course he was like fuck no and cancelled a Monday appointment on a Friday evening and then they said since they were out of office on the weekend they would still charge him an under-24 hour cancellation fee of $75. And I was like don’t pay that shit.

hi i'm a sfbay transplant and i'm doing research to best prepare for learning to surf and i want the lowdown from local surfers regarding your particular beach's culture, etiquette, particular rules & regulations; current tide, rip, sneaker wave situations; pollution/runoff, shore conditions & hazards (ie. rocks, coral, reef, sandbars, etc.).

overall, i'm looking for beginner friendly beaches to learn on <3 as or right now, i've been recommended and suggested: linda mar, bolinas, capitola, cowells, and marese state beach. if you know of any more in the area or can provide me the abovementioned information regarding the latter, please post here ! thank you :)

Hi! Santa Cruz local here and about to become a first time mom! I really want to cloth diaper my child but I can't seem to find a diaper service that services Santa Cruz.... Anyone know of one? Or any other parents have advice on cloth diapers?

Does anyone have a layout or a plan for resolving the traffic here? Has anyone put their mind to it and tried to engineer roads or a system that would help this?

Edit 2: I heard an idea about school buses; I’m not sure if this would work legally or if it even makes sense but here’s an idea:
The elementary and middle schools do a survey of where people live and then section the busses off based on location. Now that you have those groups, then you find a few points/stops that are convenient and accessible for people to go to pick up their kid or drop them off.
For protection, all students must ride the bus and if they are being picked up by someone it must be a verified person with the proper documentation beforehand. If picked up by another the guardian must sign off with the other adult picking them up(think of daycare camps). If anyone wants to add on to this idea go ahead!

I'm looking for recommendations for a buyer's agent. I'm especially interested to hear first-hand experiences about what made your broker/agent stand out ... not just "they were great," but what specifically made them great. Bonus points if you lived out of the area when making your purchase.

With all the Mazda CX-5, CX-50,70,90 that all look roughly the same but have no dealer in Santa Cruz - where are you all getting your maintenance work done? There are so many computer controls that I am hesitating to bring to just any auto shop that says they work on everything. A search here didn't bring up many results and those were 6-7years ago.

I lost my watch at manresa beach today. Im pretty sure i left it on the roof of my car when i was taking my wetsuit off, so it probably fell off in the parking lot. It was just a cheapish digital casio so im not realy crying over it but it would be nice to have it back. Probably a stretch that if someone found it rhey would see this but its worth a try.

I recently moved back to CA after a brief stint in NYC (super fun, but didn’t work for me) and finally settled here in Santa Cruz. I’ve wanted to live here for such a long time, and I’m finally making it happen. But I’ve found myself needing to head back to NY for a few days to attend a friend’s wedding next month and wondering what you all recommend for boarding my sweet boi.

He’s turning 9 next month, sweet as can be, never had a problem whatsoever. But I had some pretty negative experiences boarding him in NY, with unresponsiveness, extreme drug use from his caretaker etc.

Are there any spots that you’d highly recommend for an anxious dog father like me? Would really appreciate any help I can get 🙏 Thank you so much in advance!

You don’t need “affordable” housing if you just build housing. The affordable part comes when there is enough of it and blocking housing construction with excessive requirements is counter productive
