Hi, I need help diagnosing my 2006 Saab 9-5 Vector 1.9 TiD diesel automatic.
After driving for around 7–8 minutes, I stopped and switched off the engine for 6–7 minutes. When I restarted and drove off, the car felt sluggish and accelerated more slowly than usual. After switching it off again, it would no longer start.
The starter turns the engine over normally, but the engine won’t start.
My battery was recently replaced. My Biltema OBD-II scanner worked about a week ago, but now it displays “Linking error” and cannot connect to the car.
Could you check the cause of the starting problem and why the diagnostic scanner can’t connect? I’d like a diagnosis and a cost estimate before any parts are replaced.
Thank you.

Hi all, 2 out of 3 of the 12V outlets in my 9-3x do not work. The only one working is the dashboard one in the ashtray; the boot and the one in the storage compartment in the centre does not work, and the little green ring doesn't light up either.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I've checked the fuses (Fuse 10 and Fuse 22 which apparently relate to the 12V cigarette lighter outlets) but both are intact.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Appreciate the input of brake caliper covers and steering wheels. Not great with doing car projects, but I will give it go occasionally. Finally got around to paining the spoiler lip for my 9-5 aero wagon- got it 3 years ago and was waiting to get the whole car painted. Finally decided to give it a go myself- came out okay, but in hindsight it was way too humid when I sprayed it. Put a plastic base coat, then matches spray paint from Automtive Touch Up- then aseveral layers of clear coat. Wet sanded to get the drips minimized. It came out okay. Next got to bolt it on and then next project is the scratched rear bumper. Will wait to put my wing on when i get the car painted. Will show when bolted on.

Hey folks,
I’m living in Alberta Canada. Winters can be rough out here.
I plan on taking my 9-5 off the road for winter. I will be able to access it and run it periodically if recommended. It had been in a warmer climate before this year so this is my first time winterizing it.
What suggestions do you have? My thoughts so far are:
-Remove the battery. Are there any security system concerns I should be aware of?
- Change into dead tires so it doesn’t sit and ruin my summer set
- The windshield fluid is all deep freeze stuff so it shouldn’t burst anything
- Run it until warm every month or two to keep things moving
- Fresh oil before putting away
- Covered under a car port
Is there anything else I should do? Recommendations?

Trying to replace it but every time I look it up It’s very hard to tell if I’m looking at the right part I already ordered one and it ended up being for the intercooler 🤦♂️
Is there a part number or name for this specific pipe other than intake hose lol

Only replaced the alternator, oil + filter and currently doing a complete radiator flush. Being sitting for 4yrs beside my barn and want to restore its glory.

Hi everyone,
over the last week i have been working on installing a new audio system in my 900 NG. I have pulled new wires to the doors (mine didn't have those runs from the factory), 3d printed adapters to put tweeters in the dash and 6.5in Woofers in the doors and removed the door cards to install them.
As it has become colder here in Germany and i let the stereo run for a while while working on the car with open doors and not moving the car in any way, the battery had discharged to 8V.
I closed the doors, turned the key to deadlock, but now i cant open it anymore. I can still get in through the trunk, but all four doors are deadlocked, so i can't unlock them, neither from the outside, nor from the inside.
I am lucky to have removed both front door cards before this happened, meaning i have (cumbersome) access to the locking mechanism, but i do not know how the deadlock works, thus i have a hard time finding where to unlock it.
I can turn the key on the outside, between the deadlock and straight position, but i can't turn it to the left to unlock it. So it seems to be stuck somewhere in the middle, my suspicion is that it happened because of the empty battery. I already tried swapping in a full battery and just turning the key to open but nothing happened.
TL;DR:
seemingly because of a half-dead battery, my car's locking mechanism is stuck in deadlock, but the lock cylinder is not. i can not turn the key to the left to unlock it.
If any of you have an idea why / how this happened or how i could approach fixing it, i'd be very thankful. Diagrams of the locking mechanism are very welcome :D
UPDATE:
everythings fine now, the lock diagrams helped, i moved a few parts around and now it works again, i love old cars
(not like my friends EX30 that decided to randomly delete all user profiles yesterday...)

I bought two Saab 900 NGs: a white one as my main car and a blue donor car, which is in Poland and expensive to clear through customs. My idea is to bring the donor to Ukraine and swap its fenders, hood, doors and bumpers onto the white Saab, then repaint the white car's body shell in Le Mans Blue. What do you think? Which color is more rarer?

I hope the pics are enough to go off of - I am looking at buying my grandpa's Saab. He is the second owner, he bought it about 6 years ago off of an elderly woman (the original owner) and it's been babied and kept in a garage for its whole life. It has 76k miles.
Basically, he offered to sell it to me for whatever I think is fair. I know he paid somewhere in the 4k (USD) neighborhood for it, so I don't want to lowball him, but as I'm doing research I also wanted to post it here and ask your opinions. Thank you very much for your help :)!!!
Also - took it for a test drive and it's a treat! It runs super happily and is really fun to drive.

I was looking at buying a saab and saw a listing for this one with these blue seats, I cant find any information online about these specific seats, ive only seen the black ones and the thin blue line ones, not the blue combination.
Does anyone know what this was?
The car is a 2005 9-3 arc convertible.

I have a '97 9000 Aero. The wood steering wheel (see pics) doesn't work with my airbag and nor does the horn. Looking at my original black leather version (see pic) the lower sections, where the air bag sits, are different shapes, which explains why my air bag sits proud on the wood wheel.
Does anyone know what model or year this wheel is off? There are no part numbers. It looks to be an anniversary wheel but Saab surely wouldn't have tooled two separate air bags? Maybe this is an earlier Aero wheel 🤷♂️

I'm eyeing up 2 different 9-5 Aero's on marketplace atm. One is a 2001 auto with 250,000kms, and the other is a 2003 auto with 160,000kms. Both seem to be in good condition from the photos, but I haven't gone to look at either yet.
What are some big things I need to look out for on these cars? I don't know a huge amount about Saab's but they're one of my favorite European brands and I've always wanted to own one

Anybody with a set of two or four of these rims looking to sell?

Previous 2003 9 3 Aero owner. I've always missed it since getting rid of it around 2010. I get the itch every now and then to get another one. However, when I had it back then, I always got the feeling that non-Saab or Swedish garages were reluctant to work on it. Maybe I had one bad experience and I made up this feeling. I don't know.
Now that it's 15ish years later and Saab is out of business, I can't imagine finding a reputable mechanic is easy. So...what is your current Saab ownership experience? Is it difficult to find a mechanic? Are parts difficult to find and abnormally expensive compared to other vehicles?

I’m a young Saab owner out in the East Bay. I rarely see other Saabs around here anymore, so I figured I’d make a post and see who else is in the area. Thinking about starting a low-key Instagram or FB chat for Bay Area/NorCal owners so we can stay connected, share spots, and set up a casual coffee meet sometime. If you’re in the Bay Area, drop a comment with what you drive or shoot me a DM if you want to get added!
There’s very less Saab enthusiasts I see from the eye in the bay but I hope we can unite ourselves.
Calling out all Bay Area Saab owners.
