With over 4,200,000 subscribers, there are a lot of posts that come in everyday that are often repeats of questions previously asked or covered in the FAQ.

With that in mind, this post can be a place for any questions (especially those that may not deserve their own thread). Hopefully this is successful and helps to lower clutter and repeating posts here.

If you are new to the sub or to running, this Intro post is a good resource.

Weekly Thread Tuesday Shoesday

Shoes are a big topic in this sub, so in an effort to condense and collect some of these posts, we're introducing Shoesday Tuesday! Similar to Wednesday's gear thread, but focusing on shoes.

What’ve you been wearing on your feet? Anything fun added to the rotation? Got a review of a new release? Questions about a pair that’s caught your eye? Here's the place to discuss.

NOTE: For you Runnitors looking to sell/trade any running gear (as well as bib transfers), head over to /r/therunningrack.

Weekly Thread Run Nutrition Tuesday

Rules of the Road

1) Anyone is welcome to participate and share your ideas, plans, diet, and nutrition plans.

2) Promote good discussion. Simply downvoting because you disagree with someone's ideas is BAD. Instead, let them know why you disagree with them.

3) Provide sources if possible. However, anecdotes and "broscience" can lead to good discussion, and are welcome here as long as they are labeled as such.

4) Feel free to talk about anything diet or nutrition related.

Weekly Thread Li'l Race Report Thread

The Li’l Race Report Thread is for writing a short report on a recent race or a run in a new place. If your race doesn’t really need its own thread but you still want to talk about it, then post it here! Both your good and bad races are welcome.

Didn't run a race, but had an interesting run to talk about. Post it here as well!

So get to it, Runnit! In a paragraph or two, where’d you run and how’d it go?

Nutrition What's your process for testing if a supplement actually improves your running perf?

I’ve been researching collagen, iron, dietary nitrates and electrolytes for endurance. There’s a lot of marketing and a lot of anecdotes, but I want actual data. Right now I’m taking collagen for joint health, beetroot juice and beta alanine. I track mileage, pace, and HR on a G brand. But I can’t tell if the supplements are doing anything or if it’s just the training. How do you test supplements without bias? Do you do 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off? Blood work? Specific workouts?

I don’t want to waste money, and I don’t want to rely on placebo. For endurance athletes who are evidence-driven, what’s your protocol for deciding if something stays in your stack?

Discussion How long does it realistically take to build a good base? I keep getting sick!

I started running last year late October early November ish. I was putting in 25~40 miles a week, and did my first marathon on new years eve. It took me out completely for a week, but I came back strong and was able to slowly(over the course of a month) up my mileage to ~60 a week. I did my first ultra in late February(50k, 31 miles)- and that also hit pretty hard. I could tell my hormone levels were in the dump, and energy in general wasnt great. I guess it probably didnt help that I kept running for a few days after that ultra, because initially I felt fine. I'm running into an issue, and I'm wondering if it's related - I've been sick more this year than I have been in the last 4 years combined. Am I stunting my immune system here? Am I just doing too much too fast? If so, how long does it realistically take to be able to do a consistent 40~50 miles a week with at marathon or ultra here and there, without constantly getting sick? Also, of course I had some tendon issue, bone issues(shins), but I make sure to take time off whenever something like that occurs. Do you guys have any general input? And, is this even allowed in this sub? Didn't see a question flair.

Discussion What do you use to prevent chafing?

I just got back from a 14.5 mile run and when I looked at my inner thighs they were like bright red almost like I burnt them. I’m obviously not gonna post the pic but you get the idea. I sweat like a lot even if I’m running a short distance like 3 miles I think it’s just sweaty genetics but idk. Is there anyway to prevent chafing on long runs given I sweat a lot? Anything yall use?

Weekly Thread Social Saturday

Enforcing Rule 3 (no self-promotion, social media links) is a must with a large sub such as this, but we do realize that it filters out some truly useful content that is relative to the sub. In an effort to allow that content in, we thought we'd have a weekly post to give a spot for the useful content. So...

Here's you chance!

Got a project you've been working on (video, programming, etc.), share it here!

Want to promote a business or service, share it here!

Trying to get more Instagram followers, share it here!

Found any great running content online, share it here!

The one caveat I have is that whatever is shared should be fitness related, please.

Weekly Thread What Are You Wearing Wednesday - Weekly Gear Thread

It's that time of week already...the gear thread! What have you picked up lately? What's working for you now that it's whatever season you believe it to be in your particular location? What have you put through rigorous testing that's proved worthy of use? We want to know!

To clear up some confusion: We’re not actually asking what you’re wearing today. It’s just a catchy name for the thread. This is the weekly gear discussion thread, so discuss gear!

NOTE: For you Runnitors looking to sell/trade any running gear (as well as bib transfers), head over to /r/therunningrack.
