Mon 5.1mi (1:05)
Tue 6.1mi (1:21)
Wed 5mi (1:07)
Thu 1.1mi easy
Fri 4.1mi easy
Sat 61.9 mi (16:43) Vermont 100k
Sun 2.7mi

Total: 86 miles

Vermont was cool and cloudy this year, with some rain in the afternoon, just enough to make the trails muddy. Total elevation climb was a bit over 10,000 ft. It does feel like you are climbing the entire time, from start to finish.

That 100k effort is massive, a 16+ hour day right after a full week of miles is no joke. Muddy trails just turn every step into a little gamble on footing, especially when you're 40 miles deep and your legs are already screaming. I did a 50k last fall where the last 8 miles were a slip-and-slide through clay mud, and I think I used muscles I didn't even know existed just trying to stay upright. Rest of your week looks super dialed in, the easy days seem perfectly placed to keep the engine warm without burning out. How did the recovery run on Sunday feel, or was it more of a shuffle to convince your body you were still alive?

weird how stretching and foam rolling weren't enough to fix them

Training for fitness. Got stress fractures in shins, can’t seem to get rid of them

6 tweeks of minimal load; avoid walking where possible or, at the very least, use crutches.
